I dont think goyf will dip too much, even though it is a reprint, people have valued it to 100-80$ range. and because it's not in standard and at such a high value per pack. it might dip like 10-20$. I remember when birds of paridise was valued at 15$ and it wasn't until after 10th edition it began to dip.and there are wayyy more birds. jace is only played in legacy and casual it is an 60-80$ goyf is played in modern, legacy, and casual (even though it's dumb in casual)

what I am getting at is This will not make goyf into a 30$ card, so collectors don't worry. if they made the packs at 4$ then MAYbe it would become a 50$ rare. but shops all know it's high demand and will probably value it at 50-70 preorder, but people will outbuy that in a heartbeat. store might not even sell it at the msrp, it might just be like the from the vaults and preordered at 2x the msrp. even at maybe 10$ per pack for a chance to maybe open a goyf which is probubly the ONLY 70$+ reprint in the set. Don't worry collectors your stocks are still safe

I have tons of goyfs, I personally am happy about it being reprinted. they shouldn't have modern turn into legacy. this will help a format live

I'm not gonna lie or sugar coat. It looks awful. Multiple cards that have never seen play in modern, many that never even saw play in standard. There are cards in the set that look like typical draft fillers! What the heck?
I know that a lot of people will say "But Lydia, you need to preserve draft balance!" And to that I say: "Yes, you do. Aren't cubes balanced?" Cubes show what this could have been. This looks like the sixth bad draft set in a row.
I am a modern player. I love the format. When was the last time those dragons saw play in modern? Or any giant except countryside crusher? Really? This just seems like an ill designed set to me. Maybe I am in the minority. But still, wizards. C'mon.

No thoughtseize? No lightning bolt? No living end? No fulminator mage? Honestly, it feels like it's mostly an excuse to make a ton of money without messing with the secondary market by putting all... Ten worthwhile cards out of reach of getting by mythic rarity. There are only a few GOOD cards in each color.

Red has like... Four modern playable cards, and only kiki-jikki is worth any money.

Blue has a few, but again, not enough to justify buying a single pack.

Tarmogoyf is the only reason I would even CONSIDER buying a pack. If you think about it, it is nearly impossible to make your money back on any pack, unless you get one of like... Eight cards. Really, just terrible.

I know it's not as powerful as most peoples cubes. D:

however, most sets will only come out with 1 maybe 2 modern/legacy worthwhile cards for 1 or 2 decks. where as modern masters comes with at least 30 modern/legacy playables at just mythic/rare/uncommon. not to mention the EDH playables and casual cards. (mind funeral is stupid expensive)

one color having 4 modern/legacy playables in a set is VERY good, especially when they are staples. and you can't really have lightning bolt WITH lava spike. it would make RDW far too strong for drafting purposes. Of course the cycle of dragons is pretty dumb, but for drafting purposes, they are still first picks.

Given that the cards values are not going to shift, I would much rather buy MM over any other booster pack for the MSRP. There are over 32 cards that are worth more than MSRP which you will be making your money back on.

If you can get a box for $230, you should come out about even, not including the foil in every pack. but if you are buying these things online, you are doing it wrong. If i had to choose from a box of MM or two goyfs, I would pick modern masters every time.

Stores that I am around are selling boxes for MSRP plus 5-10% off of every box. with only 5 stores in my area, including CFB, sell for more than 250$

However, I do agree with you two if you are purchasing them on the expensive end. the point of MM was to put more hard to find cards into circulation, and middle man dealers are taking advantage of it. My advice, if you find any for less than 200$ grab it hands down.

I will probably post a link of my boxes being opened just for giggles and maybe drafting advice.

ANYWAYS who's going to vegas this month for MM???
