The student council was created to govern the school, if not obvious already. As stated in the School Notes, the campus is student run, meaning nearly everything from facility schedules to special events will be voted upon and agreed upon by the students themselves. This is the purpose of your student council, they will be the ones to make sure that everything in this school runs smoothly. It is their duty to make the lives of their 'classmates' enjoyable and they will always represent the voice of the people.
The process in which the student council is elected is fairly simply. Because of the various requirements and consequences, there is only one truly electable member and that is the president. From there, they'll create a council, moving from Vice President all the way down to simple representative. The Kings will all be asked to dicuss various topics, and compete in various competitions that will demonstrate all skills, moving from charisma to their athletic capabilities.
The reason for this is because not only will the student council be responsible for creating a wonderful experience for those around them and creating rules. With that job comes the preparation to act when needed to to settle disputes among students and threats to the community fairly. They must personally handle any rogue students and dissipate any illegal fights, while remaining neutral in all situations. They must not become hung up over their friends and act as true leaders, refusing to show any form of favoritism. They're asked to behave honorably and with respect, fairlure to do so will result in one of a few penalities or consequences.
Before we get there, this is the reason that only the student council president is elected. The student council is not only a group of officials but they will also be a team within Checkamte. While this doesn't mean they're the strong of their rank, it means that when it comes down to it, they're no different than any other team that will be fighting in Checkmate. They are to stand as a unit always and that is the prime reason that only the president is elected, to give him the freedom to form his own team as the game goes on.
Lastly come the consequences. Normally, if any member fails to meet any requirements of the student council, the team suffers as a whole. The whole team will forfeit their title as the student council and if anyone is willing to take the position, it is given to them. This is truly the only consequence though there are minor penalties for smaller issues. The student council is to create a peaceful life for those around them while upholding the important laws that make the school function.
