Heraculeans are an all-male Oxygen-breathing humanoid species from Europa, one of the moons of Jupiter (Herca). This band of brothers is heavily monastic and is known for being fair and accepting of others. Their strength and agility is matched by their general gentleness and kindness. They are feline in appearance, with two tusks protruding from their lower jaws- leading some humans to jokingly refer to them as ‘Cat-Orcs’. Even the weakest among them tends towards muscular buffness, and a Heraculean that doesn’t love to show off his strength and muscles (or have a fondness for mirrors) is a rare one indeed.
(Naming Conventions: Typically greek or heroic-sounding)

Biology Heraculeans are an all male species. They lost their females in a huge plague very far back in their history. Fortunately, they have developed a magical means of reproduction that allow them to continue on as a species. Children are produced and born by a melding of magical energy through meditation. This is powered by admiration for appearance (of themselves or others), and love. It is common for heraculeans to produce a child on their own through sheer narcissism, but because of the meditation this is usually not an accident.
They are humanoid in shape, with large, powerful muscles. They bear thick manes and a snout with powerful jaws and teeth, including two tusks. They appear feline, and resemble lions, but this resemblance ends at their heads, unless they are one of the rare tailed ones. Otherwise, they have humanlike hands with vestigial claws, a human-like athletic body (a Greek Physique) and a pair of cloven hooves. They also are omnivorous, although the philosophies of many of them prohibit meat eating.
Their skin is lightly furred and is typically yellow, red, gold, and blue. There is occasionally a white or grey, Heraculean, though this is very rare and happens more with crossbreeding then with those that are fully Heraculean.
Their magical nature makes many instances of crossbreeding possible, though a Heraculean that produces a hybrid is sometimes considered mentally ill. Half Heraculeans, again due to the magical nature of the union, often suffer little to no ill effects from being of two species.
Color Specs: Heraculeans have intense coloring. Their common bases are a vibrant lotus-red, gold/yellow, and -rarely- grey or brown. Their eyes tend to be either of stormy (grey, light lilac, silver) or intense (yellow, amber, red, hazel) and, rarely, black. Their manes are typically a dark brown, and rarely black/dark grey or white.
Patterning tends to be of an intense coloration, usually complementing their base color but occasionally of a distinct variety of that color. Their markings tend to be Divaricate Triangle patterns of some sort, and occasionally spots, and sometimes other patterns.
While like most species on the Charon, they wear a variety of clothes, many will have at least one symbolic article, be it an amulet or boots. Something relating them to their Heraculean heritage. It is also rare for a heraculean to not show muscles or skin, as they are usually very buff and like to show it off.

History
Society/Beliefs: Heraculeans are a society of Brothers with no definite leader. They are governed by popular vote, where every Heraculean has a say. They believe in the concept of enlightenment and ascension to a greater plane of existance, and that each species has its own path. Heraculeans believe that they must lead each species towards this path, which they call Anatao, or Anataoism. Their primary example of someone who has reached enlightenment and transcended reality is Anata, the last female Heraculean. As the story goes, she was the last female and searched for an answer to save her kind. She transcended time, space, and reality, and with the knowledge she found there, gave the Heraculeans the ability to continue on without females.
While they believe that the path is different for each species, many are convinced that their method of enlightenment is clearly the best: discipline, training in the martial arts, and teaching others. Many also have their own personal codes of conduct. This means that many Heraculeans are warrior-philosophers.
On Charon, however, some Heraculeans have decided that the traditional Heraculean Anatao is flawed, and they must look at the other species for guidance.

On Charon On Charon Heraculeans typically go into professions where they can either show off their muscles and strength or do some good. Although not as smart as Lurians, a surprising number of Heraculeans pursue medical professions (probably because of their knowledge of bodies). Many others go into construction work, where they eschew machinery and show off their strength and bravery. Others model. They are not known for having a strong work ethic, however, and are considered to be beautiful lazy show-offs who can at least help in a pinch.
Attitudes: Heraculeans are generally open and accepting of all species and mixes and the many varieties of people and beliefs that Charon has to offer. In fact, they are generally considered to be the most open people except for the Lurians.
However, there are two major exceptions:
Heraculean Halfbreeds: While their magical reproduction enables a wide variety of hybrids, they consider this to be a pollution of their perfection. Half-heraculeans are generally regarded with disgust.
Female Heraculeans/ Half Heracuelans: They consider a female heraculean to be an insult to Anata's sacrifice and ascension. Though very rare, she and her parent/s would be shunned from the Heraculean temple.
