How do you deal with closed minded family members? What if you're stuck with them with for the time being? That's my predicament. Last night, during a commercial where two guys were about to kiss, my grandma overreacted in front of my entire immediate family + grandfather. "Ewww, that's just gross! Who in their right mind would do that? Don't you all think that's gross? Urgh..."
I found this to be utterly embarrassing - how could one of the sweetest grandma's I've ever met be this closed minded? If she knew I was bi-sexual she probably wouldn't make so many bad comments about the LBGT community, but even then I would know her thoughts on me. I've been living here for about 5 months and she always makes comments about how its disgusting. She also tells my grandpa he looks gay in his old short shorts, which happened to be POPULAR in the not too distant past.
My grandparents are a major reason for why I'm not out to everyone just yet. ._.
I don't know, I guess I'm just ranting a bit... =/ Have any of you dealt with a close family member not being accepting? How did you deal with it? Should I wait till I get my own place before I announce my bi-sexuality? I

Mmm.. my father is pretty close-minded. I haven't told him just yet, but my mom knows. Then again, she's bi herself, so yeah. Heh. I guess I'd just tell them. She's your grandma and she loves you. I don't have the problem anymore, as I don't even live in the same state as my dad anymore.

Once I get my own place it will be easier to be open about it - because then I won't have to deal with them every day if they think poorly of it. I just wish they didn't criticize homosexuality so much.
I remember coming out to my mom x_x She promised to keep it between us then she went off and told my dad - it wasn't her place to do so. Now she wonders why I don't trust her.. : P
