So this correspondence came from someone who wished to join the guild. However, his responses to the questions asked of people wishing to join were very disrespectful and negative. I denied the request, and this PM chain is what resulted.

Am I not qualified enough to join a gaiaonline guild that has zero qualifications to get in and are essentially just a bunch of 12 year olds who want to act like they are top tier fighters?
Or is it that I'm to qualified.

Well oh well, I could care less about a bunch of joke fighters anyway, I just planned on joining on a whim.

"Too" qualified. Further, your attitude does not appear becoming to a martial artist. In our guild we try to espouse a positive environment without sarcasm or a lack of humility. You are welcome to reapply, perhaps one of the other moderators will find you more acceptable. For myself, I do not especially want this kind of attitude in a place where I find solace.

Martial Arts was made to kill and impose power on others, even when you defend someone you have to stop the other person by "Forcing" their hand.
Stop thinking that the new age concepts of martial arts are what they truly are.

An interesting opinion, since I practice two arts that specifically emphasize not killing. I agree that the potential for injury exists when one is forced to protect themselves. However, I have yet to enter a situation in twenty four years of practicing the arts where I have been forced to do much more than immobilize the other person for the protection of myself and others. And as for "new age concepts," my concepts come from arts that were developed several thousand years ago. At any rate, this conversation is over as you are not the type of martial artist that I am interested in associating with. Best of luck in your future.

Fact of the matter is that you are doing watered down martial arts.

And also you did what I said..
You immobilized the other person, you forced them to stop, you ended it with your power. You threw more into the situation skill and strength wise and made him change his mind or physically held him down. It wasn't a matter of killing in my opinion ever, sure that was 99% but even now if you take a self defense.

I discussed martial arts with these group of people who claimed that martial arts were initially made as an artistic thing pretty much razz

They were made to break the other persons nose, to maim, or to kill.

I don't think I'm in the wrong here. Anybody else?

This guy reminded me of this for some reason ... what a fool ...

A crazy brawler challenges a Muay Thai instructor and got knocked out in

Ugh ... He feels like one of those cliche characters you'd find in the movies ... You know the one's ... Where a master has two top students, and one student takes the high road, and the other uses it to hurt people, and is obsessed with power kinda thing ... That guy would be the guy who goes rogue, and what not ... But then again what kind of master accepts a guy like that ... You did the right thing ...

Appreciate the support guys and gals. Some people just aren't cut out to participate in a positive and enlightened place like this guild.

/quote] Jokes on him. I do a watered martial art and I am proud of it. I think that everyone knows that Judo is jiujitsu without the gouges, small joint locks, or striking. Its very propose as defined by is founder is Mutual benefit and welfare and maximum efficiency. Can throws hurt people? Yeah but I like to think that as far as arts go Judo is one of the more pacifist ones out there. Hell it means the Gentle Way.

Dude sounds like a meat head. What style did he pratice?

No problem ... also not to mention ... what give him the right to talk down to anyone ... including yourself ... quiet ... you are probably one of the most intelligent and open-minded martial artists in this guild ... and the fact you restrain yourself in PM thread ... shows your maturity as a person ... it's an honor to have you a part of this guild ...

I think you did this the right way. I support you keeping this guy out, but I want to say this.

I hate this debate. The fact is is that martial arts were made to do BOTH lethal, and nonlethal maneuvers depending on the art and situation.

A martial artist should have to attitude of using the proper force for a situation.

If a buddy is drunk, then that is one thing.

If a man has a pistol on my girlfriend that's other.

The idea need to be not. "I will kill every son of a b***h who crosses me."

It needs to be "I will kill a son of a b***h who crosses the line."

My arts are made to empower a justified man to do what is necessary.
