I've done research but it's hard to find anything without having someone say "No this is (Insert name) not (Insert name). So if you could help by clarifying things and help a bit that would be awesome! Maybe links to helpful sites or books to get.

Also how to convince my mother it's not Satanism. I mentioned it once and she said "Isn't that Satanism?" And so did a friend of mine. So as you can see where I live I can get no help.

What exactly are you looking for? Is there a specific culture or mythology that you are attracted to?

What have you already told them?

1. Celtic or Greek I guess. I'm still doing some research but like I said before.

2. "I have an interest in Paganism." "Isn't that Satanism?" "ASDFGHJKL NO!"

It really depends on what you're looking for. I started out at looking at recon paths first. Ended up that I was meant to be a reconstructionist but still that knowledge of the cultures will help you figure out exactly what you want.

Your family just isn't educated on the matter, and that's not really their fault. Educate them. I didn't come out of the proverbial "pagan" closet until after I had done a lot of research on my specific path and could answer questions better.

I'm still doing it. It's taking awhile finding good detailed info. I'm definitely will be looking at books next time I'm in town. *Not till around Dec 27 or later. DX* I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for. I heard of the Tree of Life and to say I love nature doesn't begin to describe me. I'm still doing my research though.

They aren't. And judging from my last attempts to explain ANYTHING even with the right information it will take awhile.

Just remember that Pagan is an umbrella term for many different religions. I have no idea what the tree of life is and nature is great and all but I don't worship it. You said you like Celtic and Greek mythology. Check out Hellenismos.us. It's a forum for people who are Hellenistic Recons. I post time to time there because the Roman and Greek mythology and deities are similar.

As for Celtic, that's an umbrella term as well for Scottish, Irish, Welsh..so on so forth. Each mythology and religion for each region is unique so just because you read up on the Scottish doesn't mean that it will be the same for the Welsh. The Irish religion is a closed religion to those who are not Irish living in Ireland.

As for your family, are they hardline Christian or just uninformed? This will effect how you approach the situation, including whether or not it's a good idea to actually practice in their house or not.

Yeah. I'm still hitting sites and stuff. It's taking awhile but hopefully I find something soon.

I'll check that site soon.

1. Celtic or Greek I guess. I'm still doing some research but like I said before.
You may need to be careful with Celtic cultures. There are some deities within the various celtic pantheons and tribes that are closed to outsiders. For the Greek I suggest this site mentioned as well as the Homeric Hyms, Hesoid, the Odyssey, The Iliad and a few other texts.

holywarriorprincess11
2. "I have an interest in Paganism." "Isn't that Satanism?" "ASDFGHJKL NO!"
Explain to her that Paganism is made up of a lot of religions that are not based on Judaism, Christianity, and or Islam.

The first thing I understand from some basic research I did before posting and from being told before.

I find it a bit funny she reacted that way since she says we're Protestant but we don't pray or go to church.

I'm told we're Protestant but we haven't gone to church since my brothers said they didn't want to. Since I have no memories of church I can guess this was before I was born. From what I'm told I was baptized too.
So I'm going with uninformed.
