So, I'm 17 years old and I just went to a new church where the teens go and the pastor asked for us to confess our faults and to pray for oneanother. So I felt that I should say the truth. I said "I used to be bi-sexual until God cured me." The whole room seemed shocked and then the pastor led everyone in clapping for me. But at my old church people mistreated me and acted like I was crazy...like my testimony meant nothing. I'm asking, if I said what I said aloud the first time at a new church filled with people I don't know, have I already set everyone against me? Should I go to another church?
What would you think about a girl who said what she said? Would you believe her? Accept her? Please pray that about my experiences at church.

It was a shock to people. You didn't give the testimony to receive praise from the people. You gave the testimony to the Lord. Let it go and just go about your normal business. Give people time. Some churches don't discuss sex very well and don't know how to act when something is brought up about it. Pray before you change churches. You want to be where God wants you. He will direct you to a new church if you need to change.
It was a good testimony of God's healing. Don't let it hurt you that your church didn't respond as you had hoped. They can see the changes God makes in a person and your actions will speak volumes. You are not alone in what God has done for you. There are other people out there that God has delivered from this. Stay strong in the Lord. Stay in His hands and He will guide you.

I can understand that.

I can imagine it was a big shock for them, but they didn't ostracize you for it. They started clapping. When I read that, I was happy that you found a church that accepted you for who you are. We all have our skeletons, but it takes real strength and courage to take them out and dust them off for the world to see. I don't think you should find another church.

I don't find you strange at all for your testimony. I would believe you and I would accept you as well. What I do believe is that it's proof of God's miracle. It's amazing what He can do, and I'm glad that you got through it. I'm sure it was hard, going against your desires, but like I said, it takes strength to do that. You should be proud of yourself. smile It's quite an accomplishment. I will pray that you will feel no more shame about your skeleton and that you'll trust God to lead you down the right path. I'll also pray for your continued acceptance in your new church. You deserve to be happy and at peace with God's help.

As for the other church, it was wrong of them to ostracize you. Absolutely wrong. Christians are supposed to love no matter what, especially each other. It depresses me that there are churches out there that do that to people. Churches like that give Christianity a bad name.
