My Christmas was pretty nice. We do the same exact thing every year though and I'm a bit bored of it.. plus I don't like the food so I wish we would change it up once in a while xp But people love their traditions...

Well, if you consider what my family does in general, then I suppose we just do the same thing every year...
We have our own immediate family Christmas in the morning, and then head over to my aunt's house (used to be my grandmother's) and spend the rest of the day there, visiting and playing games and having a second gift exchange. But things are never exactly the same because people arrive at different times and we do different things to pass the time... There isn't any sort of set schedule or anything.
As to the food... We generally have the same things every year: there are two large pots of home made vegetable soup, at least two loaves of home made bread, and a deli ham sliced thin for sandwiches. Then there are the snacks and desserts: mixed nuts (not family members... wink ), a bowl of fruit, a large box of assorted chocolates, fudge, cookies.... And then there are the things that change from year to year... Sometimes there are pies, cakes, crackers with cheese balls, various candies, and this time, we had beef jerky! lol
So, even though it is sort of the same thing every year, it is also very different each year. mrgreen

That sounds nice though, same general concept but with some variety.
With us, everyone goes to my grandparents' house at 2:30. We sit in the living room and talk for a bit and about half an hour later, move to the dining room for cake and coffee. After that it's time to open presents (always from youngest to oldest). The younger kids then play with their toys for a while and everyone else just sits around and talks some more until dinner. And every year it's the same food: all different types of cheeses and bread. There's also some salad and mixed nuts (not family members here either wink ). But I don't like any of those fancy cheeses (they smell, some are seriously moldy, yuck!) so I just have bread and salad.
My other side of the family is the side I grew up spending Christmas with, and they're big fans of board games. At every family get together, there are multiple games going on and everyone joins in, it's a lot of fun. I guess I just wish we would so something more like that on Christmas, instead of everyone just sitting around chatting. Especially because half of the people who come only see each other once a year, so it feels like the conversation is always the same too. (Are you still in college? Psychology right? That's nice. And do you have a boyfriend yet? No, why not? etc. etc.)

Yeah... I don't think I would care much for that type of food, either. sad I like a variety of cheese, but not the smelly ones, and I absolutely will not eat any cheese that has mold. It makes me gag just smelling it and seeing it!
We like to have board games and card games going, too. If the weather is nice, people play outside and/or go for walks. If the weather is bad, we all stay inside. Even when we have to stay inside, though, we have plenty to do to keep us entertained. When we open presents, it is almost always just a free for all followed by a bunch of oohing and aahing and thank yous. lol
Some of the people who are there at Christmas are people we only see at Christmas or maybe once or twice throughout the year, so there is some "catching up" that takes place, but even those conversations are different from year to year. It is also nice when people come in from out-of-State. One year, in my grandmother's old house, we ended up having over 50 people because we had relatives from West Virginia come by as well! That was certainly an awesome Christmas! Of course, my grandmother's older house was a lot bigger, with the great room having been added on and all...
A lot of my favourite memories are from Christmases. biggrin
