-Prologue-
The Cause

Hanalli was relaxing on a hillside overlooking the green field of grass. The wind blowing was soothing to her. Her eyes scanned the field of green before her.
"Excuse me, miss. Mind if I sit here?" A tall woman asked. She was carrying an umbrella and wore what seemed like a red kimono with white floral design. It was a human
"Not at all! The more the merrier!" Hanalli gave her best smile. For one without any hair, she shined so bright. The woman folded the umbrella and sat beside her to see the grass moving through the breeze.
"I am sorry for not introducing myself. I am Hanalli!" Hanalli dug out a joy bun to the woman. The woman looked at Hanalli with a stunned expression.
"You're....Hanalli?" she asked.
"Yep! I am Hanalli, the Youkai of Joy!" Hanalli Replied.
The woman gritted her teeth and took the bun in her hand before tossing it at her face. Hanalli fell backwards and tried to pull herself up.
"HEY! That's not very nice!" Hanalli wiped what was on her face off.
"You are Hanalli...It took me years to find you and now I will take revenge for what you did to my ancestors. Because of you, my family line has lived without any Happiness! " She pulled out a strange knife that caught Hanalli's eyes with fright. Hanalli took her staff out to knock the dagger out of the woman's hands as she tried to make her escape towards the forest of magic.
However, there was a trap waiting for her. Hanalli would try to reach Nahumar but halfway through the forest she would drop to the ground. Upon looking around, there were various charms to restrict her own power of flying.
"No..." She was panicking. It could be due to Nahumar's Domain or more due to the fact that a descendant of one who tried to kill her those many years ago. She hurried on her feet and began to run to Nahumar's home.
Closing behind her was the strange woman with the knife.

As Hanalli reached the clearing of Nahumar's shrine, she took a minute to catch her breath. The charms were really doing their job right now.
"Nahumar! Sorina!" Hanalli cried out. Nahumar appeared from the shadows as Sorina came flying in.
"What's the matter?" Sorina asked.
"A descendant of the one who tried to kill me...She is trying to kill me!" Hanalli cried out. Suddenly, an arrow came flying towards Sorina. Nahumar managed to grab it and snapped it in two.
"Show yourself." Nahumar sneered. The woman stepped forward. She no longer had a Kimono on but full priest attire. Unlike the priestess of this land, the color scheme was inverted from Reimu's.
Red Sleeves and a white body. A long skirt and her hair tied in a brilliant braid. In her hand was a bow made from petrified oak and the string was a brilliant gold hair.
"That's-" Sorina imedeatly knew what the string was. The woman lined her shot up at Nahumar and fired at his chest. Nahumar sighed.
"You know it takes more than a simple arrow to-" Nahumar then started to cough up a black fluid. Sorina and Hanalli were struck with fright.
"Yes, I know a simple human arrow will not kill you. Which is why this bow was made with the last strain of the golden one's hair. It's durability has lasted for years upon years. Generation to Generation. It enhances my arrows with a spell of my choice. The one I used on you will poison your 'Roots' till it hits the core." The woman explained with a grin.
Nahumar's body grew unstable. His skin turning into a grey stone before crumbling into a pool of black blood.
"NAHUAMR!" Hanalli cried out. Another arrow whizzed past her, impaling Sorina against the side of the shrine. Blue blood leaked from the wound before death would consume her.
"SORINA!" It was too much. Hanalli was breaking down. Her cries of agony and despair started to ring. Sobbing over the lost of her last kin. The woman gave a sly smirk as she raised one arrow up to Hanalli. Hanalli looked at her with eyes filled of tears.
"Hanalli. I think the best revenge is not to kill you...But to kill what makes you most happy in life." The woman lowered her bow.
"How...could you be so cruel...They were my children." Hanalli hung her head in shame. She let her tears drop and splash on the ground before her. The color changed into a gold tint. Her body grew dim.
"How could I? Maybe if you would of died earlier, then this would not of happened. It's your fault for bringing such negative emotions into this world." the woman turned and left the scene. Her name never given but her outfit was clear in Hanalli's Mind.
"...Tushui."

Ochiba later found the now dim Hanalli and the remains of the two last negative emotions. She did her best to contact Marisa who in turn contacted Rinnosuke who then told Keine and took her in. With such a loss for her, Hanalli found no reason to smile anymore.

Chapter One

"Yo Keine! I got those Dandelions like you asked me!" Mokou cried out as she knocked on the door. The door opened as Keine stood to greet Mokou.
"Thank you Mokou. Let's hope it will snap her out of it." Keine looked over to the table where Hanalli sat with her head hanging low and her face empty of all emotions. Keine attempted to lay one Dandelion before her in her view.
"Here Hanalli. Mokou went through the trouble of finding the brightest ones for you." Keine by now knew what happened. She lost her last two children that made her days worth while. Loosing children is devastating, especially if the widow had no one else. The Dandelion did not move at all from it's placement.
"Come on Hanalli. Quit your moping and tell us what's the matter. Keine is going through the trouble of making you talk and you wish to sit there like some kind of statue?!" Mokou felt agitated without any idea the situation was.
"Mokou! That is uncalled for. Hanalli lost both Sorina and Nahumar!" Keine was obviously concerned as much as any other friend would be. Mokou quietly shrugged as she walked out to take a breather.
"Whatever. All I know is that until little miss joy talks, we can't help her."

Keine tried her best to make Hanalli speak. Hanalli has been drained of her Joy. Some of the people she had influenced or met tried to cheer her up. From Cirno to Suika, they would fail. It all seemed lost. So Keine tried to reason with her.
"Hanalli. I know it's painful, but please tell me who did this. Anything at all..."
Hanalli did not move.
"Say something...Please." Keine asked again with more emotion in the words.
Still not a peep. Keine was getting more concerned by the second. In this state, Hanalli could very well do something that could end up killing her. Then, Keine had an idea.
"Hey Hanalli. Look." Hanalli looked up to noticed Keine attempting to make her laugh with a weird face. It did nothing. Only the void like emotion was present.
"I usually make some people snicker at me with it...That's It!" Keine then had another idea.
She tried her best to boil the Dandelions but it did not even look too good. Like a very grass green liquid. The smell was not that pleasant either.
"Ugg..." Keine's comment as she tried to dispose of the foul liquid.

She has tried all she could to make Hanalli smile once more. All failing. Soon enough, Rinnosuke walked through the door with a little package.
"Keine. I have something for Hanalli. Are you in?" Keine, so excited to see Rinnosuke come, guided him to Hanalli at the table.
"Yes. Now let's give Hanalli the pa-" The package was tossed aside by Hanalli as she glared at Keine and Rinnosuke.
"Hanalli?"
Hanalli glared at the package and then to the two before her with a glare.
"You two sicken me. The minute either one of you find one another, I can feel the happiness radiate within you both. Do you know what it's like to loose the only thing that makes you happy in this pathetic plain of Existence?!" An outburst from nowhere.
Even as dim as she was, Hanalli could still sense joy.
"Hanalli, what are you talking about?" Keine asked. Hanalli started to cry once more. Her tears splashed on the table before them as they turned to a golden hue like before. She sobbed and fell to her knees just feeling happiness.
"H-hey. It's okay. I went through the trouble of finding this for you." Rinnosuke picked up the package to unwrap it. It was a now broken toy. Upon seeing what the gift was, Hanalli retaliated by smashing it with her staff.
"HEY! That was hard to find!" Rinnosuke tried his best to gather the shards of what was left.
"You think a meaningless object would bring back what was taken from me? Sorina...Nahumar..." with another deep breath, Hanalli burst into another painful cry. Rinnosuke quickly left the scene as fast as he could. Mokou would enter the door as grab Hanalli to drag her off.
"Let's go baby! I'm going to show you something." Mokou pulled her by the arm like a child into the bamboo forest. She brought her over to a small cart that sold grilled eel and was run by the Night Sparrow.
"Look. You are not the only one who lost everything that made them happy. There are people like you. Some lost more than you." Mokou tried to give her a talk. Hanalli at first thought it was a joke, seeing as Mokou is a human.
"How do you know? Humans have a mortal lifespan of one hundred and twenty two years Max. Quit mocking me." Mokou on the other hand did not like this.
"I'm not joking, Baldy! I am not a normal human. I can't even remember the year I was born or how long it was...but I have been suffering for a long time. I have watched everyone around me age and die. My family, my friends, even those I loved. I live a life of endless pain every day. I can not die, but I want to. You may think you have it rough cause you lost Nahumar and Sorina...but I lost more than that. I lost my Mortal Life. Forever burdened to roam this world without a chance in hell to just rot. You can impale me, Burn me, Cut me and crush me, but I will not die. Even now, Keine is one of the nicest people I met. When she leaves me, It will be sad...but if it's any consolation, I at least have the memories locked in my heart. Sure everyone I know is gone and the idea that I will never die still pains me...but the happiness I have is not from you or the people I love. It's the memories and past joys I have been apart of."
Hanalli was struck by this ideal. A mortal whom could live forever and has suffered much more than her? It was impossible but if she was telling the truth...
"So...the secret to humans being happy is memories?" Hanalli asked her.
"Well that is how I see it. Most people have their own methods of being happy, but the one thing we all can agree on is that the memories of the past are what keep us looking towards the future. Sure they may be gone, but the time spent with them is what matters. After all, Mortals do not usually live longer than a hundred. So they make the most of it!" Mokou gave the grin of satisfaction to show her honesty and truth. To think all this time Hanalli thought the secret to being happy was with an offspring...but it's the memories one hold that makes them happy.
"Mokou...thanks." Hanalli quietly said as her pigment started to lighten up like before. Mokou noticed this and handed her a Dandelion.
"So, how about it? Want to tell Keine about who did this? Then we can make that b*****d pay." Hanalli nodded, eating the Dandelion and giving her the smile of satisfaction.
"Yes. I wish to tell Keine."

"My Children. In the end, you all still make me happy. Though you are gone, I feel as if the memories of our time together has really filled my heart with such a bright light. Thank you."
