Dagrun made her way across the soft sands of the beach. She'd been heading south for sometime after leaving the swamp. Her journey was to take her through the jungle to find the ruins in it's heart. At least, that was the mare's hope. She knew they were there, she'd seen them from above...but it would make a more interesting tale to find them on hoof. This meant traveling away from the beach she usually frequented to a new beach that seemed to be made of lighter sand. The hippo'suti was not afraid to go to new places. She loved the adventure, and it always added to her ever growing collections of the lore. She just wasn't sure she was up to traveling into the dark, thick foliage on her own. She didn't know if skinwalkers lurked there, or other dangers. The best she could tell, not many soquili came to this area.

Pausing on the beach to look at the green wall before her, Dagrun pondered where a good place to enter might be. She wasn't worried about water, as her power made her confident in finding fresh water to quench her thirst...and where there was water, she would most likely find fruit. The mare was just concerned about her footing, and having a way to take to the air should she need to.

Pavo was cursing himself. He had been recklessly aimless, and he was now lost. He became disoriented when he entered an area with dense vegetation. He managed to find his way out and to a beach. He had never seen the sea and at first ran to the shore only to find the water was painfully salty. It didnt seem like a smart idea to drink the water so he kept walking the beach. The size of the salty lake was enormous, and remarkable. He wished he had someone to share it with.

He had been traveling alone for quite some time. the last Soquili he encountered wasnt much help with directions, and that was over a week ago.
Pavo was collecting bits of things from the beach. Sea shells lined on his back, he wasnt sure what he was collecting them for, but he liked them. The sand itself was a bittersweet memory for him. It reminded him of his desolate homeland, its once fertile soil turned to bone dry sand.

He started to wander back towards the line of the jungle when a remarkable specimen caught his attention. From a distance he could see the wings and feathers and he knew immediately it was a hippogryph. He wasnt full gryph but he considered himself one. His heart filled with delight and he quickened his step to introduce himself to the Soquili before they entered the jungle.

Pavo ran part of the way and he sounded a little short of breath. "Hello! W-wait," He said loudly to get their attention, "m-my name is Pavo, Pavo Birdsong." He said as he trotted up to his hopefully soon to be acquaintance.
Pavo had always been eager to introduce himself to others. He didnt believe in evil, and didnt think a Soquili could poses it. Fortunately his reckless friendliness had yet to prove him wrong, and so he continues to be extremely open and pleasant.

Dagrun blinked at the voice, then turned to see who was approaching. She could see his trail in the sand, indicating he'd come from the very jungle she'd planned to enter. Perhaps this stallion could be her guide, or the very least help her know what dangers there might be. She waited for him to catch up, inspecting him as he got closer. "Hello Pavo. My name is Dagrun, a lore keeper. Did you come from the jungle?"

She was simply stunning; from her elegant curved horns to her delightful peafowl feathers. Pavo tucked his chin and looked at her amorously.
"It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance Dagrun" he said with a small bow of his head.
"I.. do not come from this jungle. I am actually foreign to these lands. My old territory, that was once lush, is dead and desolate." His voice and temper was upbeat and positive, and did not change when he mentioned his dying homeland.
"Do you come from the jungle?" He thought the question sounded a little silly, but perhaps it was an appropriate question here. Pavo sounded a little uncertain of himself.

Dagurn eyed him a little, taking in his colorings, claws, and feathers. "No, I am not from the jungle. I am exploring only. I come from far off to the north, the desert. I usually stick to the swamp north of here...there are some fascinating creatures there."

She stepped closer, slowly as not to alarm him. "I meant to ask, did you come from the jungle just now? And...your lands died? Are you not like me? You seem to be part hippogriff. Is your herd like you? Why did you leave them? What land...."

"Pardon me," the mare stopped herself, blushing slightly. She cleared her throat and looked at Pavo. "I always seem to ask too many questions too soon. It's my nature, learning the stories of others. I apologize to have rushed into it..."

Pavo smiled gleefully and tucked his head. "It is quite alright Dagrun, I don't mind the questions." he said with a calming voice. "but to answer your first question, no, I did not just come from this jungle. I was just walking on the sand. Without a herd I am hesitant to enter densely wooded areas alone." He looked up and smiled at her, "It is fortunate that we found each other. Strength in numbers you see, now we can both travel through the jungle with another pair of eyes and ears to watch our backs." A little while ago, a traveler had warned him of the jungles dangers, snakes, scorpions, giant spiders and vicious panthers. It would be unwise to travel in such an unfamiliar place alone.

He stepped up next to her to face the jungle trail ahead of them. "And if you would like to hear my story, I would be glad to share it with you along the way of you're journey." he paused for a moment, now it may be him who was moving too soon. It would be wise to know the goal or end of this jungle journey before so eagerly offering to help. But he couldn't help it, he hated to see such an exotic mare alone, and he felt compelled to help her, what ever her quest may be. "And, if I might ask, what is your journey?"

"You are right about strength in numbers, especially when traveling the unknown," the mare nodded in agreement, watching him. She couldn't tell if he was shy or being coy, or both. He was certainly handsome enough to get away with it. "I believe that we will be well prepared to watch against the dangers."

She turned her attention to the jungle path again, "I would love to hear your tale and put it in my memory with the others I've heard. I never forget the tales and stories I hear."

Dagrun looked at the stallion, "Well, Pavo...I am going to the ruins in the jungle. I wish to see what lies there and what mysteries, or truths, they may hold. It's a bit of an adventure, as I've only seen them from above, but it's been too dense to simply fly in."

Pavo tucked his chin and smiled gleefully. "An adventure with you to see the ruins sounds wonderful!"
He looked around them and marveled at the lush vegetation. The plants and insects in this place covered every square inch, and around each corner and turn of leaf was another small something to discover. Pavo thought the jungle was beautiful.

Dagrun was a world to discover all her own. She was an exotic mix of scale, feather, and skin. Pavo had never seen anything quite like her, Dagrun's colors and markings were as beautiful as the ocean sky and forest that surrounded them.

"This desert you speak of, I do not believe it is the one I am from. I am new to these lands and have traveled a great distance to start a new life here." Pavo always sounded happy and optimistic, and his body language suggested the same.
"I was told my old home was once as lush as this jungle here, but something changed and it became a savage land, difficult to live in, only a few generations before my lifetime." He would do his best to tell her what he knew about his old home, and answer any questions she might have.
