2012 is in the books, and while many people are still coming down from their New Years Eve partying. I've already moved on and have been keeping a close eye on movies coming out this year. Many movies look good, others need to be avoided. But for now, here are my top 5 movies I'm looking forward to this year.
5. Iron Man 3: Robert Downey Jr. and company are back with the third installment of this franchise. It took two Iron Mans and an Avengers to finally introduce his nemesis the Mandarin. But there is a trend with many superhero movies where I usually love the first two, then the third is a huge disappointment. And even if this movie breaks the mold and is awesome, It's a song and dance I've done before, so it's only #5 on my list.

4. Pacific Rim: I love monster movies! I grew up on Godzilla, so a movie about giant robots fighting monsters, I will most likely eat it up. It will be a good appetizer til Legendary pictures finally gets around to making the new Godzilla, (Which can't be any worse than the first US Godzilla movie... right?) Well anyways, this should be a good and awesome mindless action movie I can sit down, shut off my brain and enjoy.

3. Man of Steel: I love comic books and comic book movies. Superman however is far from being my favorite comic book hero. Despite that however I am intrigued to see how Christopher Nolan's involvement on this project may or may not effect the Man of Steels popularity, which has been lacking as he has been playing second fiddle to Batman for DC. And I'm also curious to see if they will indeed use this as a launching pad for the rumored Justice League film.

2. Oz the Great and Powerful: For a guy who just went on about his love for Giant monster movies and Super Hero's, I find it quite odd that I am more eager to see this prequel to the Wizard of Oz, directed by Sam Raimi and Franco Harris. Harris I'm not particularly a fan of. Raimi on the other hand I am, I forgive him for Spider-man 3, and am eager to see how well this project turns out.

Honorable Mentions: Evil Dead, Star Trek, Beautiful Creatures
1. The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug: I can't say I enjoyed Unexpected Journey as much as I did the LOTR movies, but it was still an awesome movie I loved, and from the moment the credits started rolling I wanted to not only see it again, but also can't wait for the next film! Now I am still questioning the decision to make the Hobbit 3 films, but so far I am satisfied with what they have done, and can't wait for the next one!
NO Trailer yet, so here is the ending cliffhanger scene from the Hobbit, teasing glimps of Smaug. If you haven't seen the movie yet, you may not want to see this, you have been warned.

So what movies are you looking forward to most this new year? I would like to hear what you are eager to see, and what you are going to avoid. My 5 films I will be avoiding in 2013 list will be coming soon.

For me it's pretty much only: Iron Man 3, Star Trek into Darkness, Man of Steel, The Wolverine, Thor: The Dark World. But at the top of my list is Pacific Rim.
As well as the 3D releases of Jurasic Park, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
