- Here in the Quest Info section, you'll find the general overview of Quests and how they're conducting here in Solace Scents. It'll provide you needed information to help you formulate your quests to the best of your ability, and make you contest or custom ready for when the time comes. If you have any questions not answered by this thread, feel free to PM the mule, Olivia Solace, or ask one of our wonderful Managers in-thread for assistance.

- What Are Scents?
Scents are magical children born from incense oil purchased at the shop Solace Scents from Olivia Solace.
The incense of the child born from the oil is what counts as the "Scent", not the child itself.
Then How Are There Twin Scents?
Good question. Because the child born from the oil is not what counts as the "Scent", but the incense itself, it's odd to see how exactly there can be two children to one "Scent".
As we only have one active example right now of a Twin Scent, I'll explain it in terms of those two children: A "Twin Scent" is simply halves of a whole, or parts of the whole. In some cases, the personalities of the children and appearances may almost be identical. In other cases, their appearances and personalities may be completely different but play off directly of the Scent provided for them.
For example, you have a Twin Scent that is comprised primarily of Tuberose, Vetiver, Musk and Sweet Pea. Their personality keywords are "Sweet, Strong, Grounded". You could get a child that resembles the "Sweet" and "Strong" side of the Scent, with the colors and appearance of the Tuberose, and Sweet Pea, with a little Musk added into the mix, and its counterpart could possible be the "Sweet" and "Grounded" mixture of the Scent, with colors and appearance of Musk, Vetiver and Sweet Pea.
What Can Be A Scent Incense?
Pretty much any smell in existence could potentially be turned into an incense and embodied in a Scent. However, like with anything there are some exceptions to the rules. The following are things not permissible as Scents for various reasons:
_____ - Smells created by bodily functions.
_____ - Materials not created before the 1930s - 1940s.
_____ - Flowers from video games or manga.
_____ - Fruit or foods from video games or manga.
If you'd like, you are permitted to create your own fruit, food or flowers that are specific to Midori itself if you provide a detailed description of the item, as well as what it smells like, and where it can be found. We fully encourage in being creative and immersing yourself into the RP world.
What Species Can Scents Be?
There is no limit as to what Species a Scent can be, however, they must always be primarily humanoid. This means that if you wanted your Scent to be an actual bi-pedal furry cat person, you are more than welcome for them to be an actual bi-pedal furry cat person, so long as they are designed to be bi-pedal and have the capabilities to speak human language and interact in a human setting.
With that in mind, realize that the more bizarre your Scent looks, the more attention it'll likely attract and all that attention isn't going to necessarily be positive.
What Sex Can Scents Be?
Scents can be male, female, both or neither. There is no definitive as to what sex your Scent has to be unless they're pre-determined through Flatsale.
Why Do Scents Have Personality Keywords?
Personality keywords are personality traits of a Scent that meant to stay as solid personality traits throughout their existence. They're a way to help other players measure whether or not a Scent is staying true to their personality, and if a player is staying true to a Scent.
The Personality Keywords themselves also represent the strongest of a Scent's personality traits, meaning they'll be the ones that show up most often. This does not mean you're not permitted to tack on personality to the Scent, but these are the traits that don't change unless something sincerely terrible happens.
Personality Keywords are also descriptive words of the incense themselves translated into personality traits. So Personality Keywords should match the smells within the incense for the Scent.
Can There Be More Than One Of The Same Scent?
Unfortunately, no. Unless your Scent children are twins, triples, etc. There is no duplication in Scents allowed if the incense you're looking at is already in existence. On occasion a Scent dies, and it frees up the incense to be used again, but it can't be used again unless the incense is freed up.
If you're wondering if the incense you're looking for is free for use, please take a look at the Taken Scents List to see if it's available.
I Want This Scent, But I Think It's Too Close To That Scent?
Scents that have overlapping ingredients in their incense is completely permitted; however, their entire incense make-up cannot be similar. If there are a couple of ingredients that differ, than that Scent is definitely on the market for use.
If you have any questions in regards to whether or not an incense may be too close to another incense in existence, feel free to PM Olivia Solace or Ment Solace, or stop by the Main Thread and drop a line in there to see if any of the current RP Managers are around!
No Cosplay Scents
I have it on the front page, but it's good to have here too.

Who Are Guardians?
Guardians are the people who watch over the Scent children, essentially. They're their parents/caretakers and are responsible for the health and wellfare of the children that come from the oil.
Guardians can be of any species, and ethnicity, but cannot be of any age. For the purposes of realism in this B/C Shop, we ask that guardians be at an age where they could reasonably take care of a young child or young adult.
We do not allow children to be guardians for this reason. Guardians who could pass as children in looks because of magical race, enchantment, etc. must have a caretaker of their own, and the situation must be reasonable and approved by staff.
What Species Can Guardians Be?
Guardians are permitted to be any magical species/race that you desire, but that species/race must be humanoid in appearance. We'd prefer that guardians be human, but we are not against diversity of species/race in the shop.
That being said, please be aware that if you do decide to make your guardian something other than human there are in-game repercussions for this. Most people are wary of any and all magical species/races since the Grand General's ban on magic. There may be situations where people are openly hostile to your character as a result. Keep this in mind when choosing a a different species/race for your guardian.
If you would like to create a species/race or import a non-standard species/race to the Solace Scents world, please contact Olivia Solace so that she can work it out with you. Being that this is an open-world/user-created world, we want to make sure that any species/races created or imported will work within our world.
What Social Class Can Guardians Be?
If you are not familiar with our social classes, please read up on them HERE.
Given the context of the world Olivia Solace's shop is in, and the kind of clientele she would attract, it is most likely that Guardians would be in the range of Lower-Middle to Militia class. This does not mean that guardians can not be in Courtiers, Nobility, or the Poor, but it is more unlikely given the Poor cannot afford luxuries like incense oils and the Courtiers and Nobility would most likely not step foot inside of Olivia's Middle-class shop.
As a note: If you decide to pursue someone in the Militia class, please be aware of the heightened risk to themselves as they are under the command of Grand General Welbehenna.
Can Guardians Be Homeless?
While we cannot steer the course your RP takes you and the plots that you inevitably conceive, we will not allow Guardians who start out as homeless. Your guardian must be able to care for a Scent child, which means providing food, clothing and a roof over their heads.
If for some reason your plots direct you to being homeless we won't stop them, but be forewarned that you will need to play this part appropriately. If you have your character stealing and they weren't already a master pick-pocket, don't think that you'll get away with it each time. You aren't that lucky, and being poor makes you less lucky.
Can Guardians Have Mental Illnesses?
This is something we are extremely iffy about. Many people both in the shop, and on staff have dealt with mental illness. While we understand that some people like to RP their own personal experiences, we want to make sure that this is done in a respectful manner that doesn't make a mockery out of an already overlooked and ostracized issue.
If you're going to have a guardian with any mental illness, we will be extremely scrutinizing about it. And if we feel that it will result in a situation that makes people uncomfortable in regards to how it'll be handled, we will out right require you to take it out.
Do Guardians Need To Be From Serviene?
Nope, they certainly don't have to be from Serviene, but it's probably good to keep them living in Serviene the majority of the time. They could be from the other countries, like Powert, and moved into Serviene.
Can Guardians Have Powers?
Yes they can if they're of a magical race/species. But their powers can not be in any way exorbitant. They shouldn't be able to resurrect people from the dead, or deflect bullets like a human shield, or fly. Reasonable powers, please.
If you have a question as to what is reasonable in terms of powers, feel free to ask.
Can Guardians Be Related To NPCs?
For the sake of ease, we're not allowing this. No situations in which a Guardian is related closely or distantly to someone important to the plot.
