Anyone have any idea what happened to the Energon TPB stuff. Still hasn't seen light of day yet, looking forward to it, if it comes out. I want to see the whole series, done and done for the fun of it all.

Well, given that Dreamwave is nought but a festering memory, I would suspect that a trade paperback involving any of their respective publications would be highly unlikely to materialize. But then I again, I could be wrong...

I heard there was something in the works actually, but I heard recently the idea died off possibly. Hence why I'm asking, the whole series would kick a** more then the show's measly plot ever did.

I find it highly unlikely. There was even talk of IDW concluding Dreamwave's "The War Within: Age of Wrath", but given that the same was said about their unpublished Beast Wars comic, I should't expect this to be the case. Even though the production house that brought this story to publication is no longer, that doesn't automatically translate to the copyright expiring. Titan proved that pre-printing old material is possible, but it will likely be some time off yet...

Well, we know IDW is republishing G1 vol. 2, and they reported that publishing Energon MTMTE won't be a problem, but the other Dreamwave stuff is still up in the air as far as being published by IDW goes.....

Seriously? eek But why would IDW publish a narrative franchise that does not fit into their own continuity; "Infiltration" is entirely removed from G1, with the whole cast re-envisioned (yet again...) to modern vehicle styles. They're starting from scratch. Even their Beast Wars comic follows a different storyline to Dreamwave's.
The Energon MTMTE series would be a welcome addition to my library, but I'd really like to see the conclusion to "Age of Wrath", myself. I doubt it will happen, but you never know, I guess.

Cuz it's out of print and this way, IDW makes some monies off of it. mrgreen Besides, it's not like it'll somehow magically interrupt their Infiltration story right now. confused

But just because something is out of print, doesn't for an instant suggest that the copyright on said publication has expired. Even if the designated property owner (in this case, Dreawave Productions) entirely ceases to exist, the stipulations of the original contract can remain in place for years after the fact.
I'm not saying that IDW won't be putting these titles out there, I just find it somewhat unlikely, is all... but here's hoping! biggrin

Yeah, we were discussing the "Hearts of Steel" comic elsewhere in the guild, but it probably makes more sense to be doing so in this thread, so good going on submitting the link for everyone, mate. smile As for the pre-order thing, it certainly looks to be official enough, doesn't it? Cool. However, I don't necessarily look to pre-emptive advertisements such as the as being sacrosanct, considering that offers like this much-anticipated release, along with the ill-fated 2005 annual never saw the light of day. Shouldn't expect IDW to be quite so unreliable, however.

True, but I just thought it'd be something interesting to share, a preview of things that may come, and more likely so this time around since IDW is alot more stable that Dreamwave was, considering their success with Metal Gear, Angel, CSI, Silent Hill, 30 Days of Night, and anything drawn by Ashley Wood. I'd like to slap the writers behind the Silent Hill comics though......the 1st two issues of Dying Inside were nice, but after that, it became a mess and has been progressively become less and less Silent Hill-ish.....'tis a shame.....

I honestly hadn't heard of IDW until it was announced that they'd won the Transformers license! sweatdrop But I am quite familiar with the artistic stylings of Mr. Ashley Wood (a fellow Aussie, no less!), whom you'll find is responsible for this chilling image. 3nodding Personally, I was introduced to this artist's work back in the good ol' days of Ghost Rider 2099 - http://www.comiccovers.com/comiccovers-280/Ghost Rider 2099 [Marvel] V1/0015.jpg - but unfortunately Marvel didn't do his unique brand of illustration the justice it deserved. While he may currently be working on the covers for the new Generations retrospective series, it would be nice to see him do a story... t'would certainly be a deviation from what we're used to seeing with this franchise. biggrin
