[Chapter 1 - Introductions]
Situated at the top floor of the main quarters of the Gaian Tenkaichi Budoukai was the large span office of the owner of this tournament. White walls, cream-colored carpet, lovely marble statues of ideal human figures, paintings of landscape, and a red oak desk resting in the center with the large chair facing back toward a wide window which gazed out onto the grounds of the GTB. Seated in the chair was Midus Sonners himself, the golden-haired well-built man looking through papers within his hands, each having the profile of a participant registered in the tournament. As usual, there were a mix of newcomers and previous contenders. Some famous in the fighting world, and others trying to make a title for themselves. He could tell that this year was going to be just as interesting as the last, and the one before it.
The double doors of his office opened as a man entered through. He was wearing a dark red suit with a black dress shirt and a red tie over it. His hair was also red and a bit spiky in nature. He stepped over and came to a stop in front of Midus's desk, sliding his hands into his pants as he gave a genuine smile.
"Sir, the guests have arrived at the hotel," he started. "Unfortunately, one of them managed to already tear down a wall."
Midus looked up from his examinations, gazing at Alex with a raised brow.
"Is that so," he asked in his deep, encroaching voice.
"Yeah. The security managed to get him to fix up the damage. I just hope you like wood in place of stone."
Midus shook his head, placing a hand against the side of it. "These fighters know no restraint. I give them a nice bed, and they destroy it."
"If you want, we can make them sleep outside."
"No need. Fighters will be fighters. We shouldn't discourage their aggression so easily. After all, that same spirit is going to bring about a nice first round tomorrow."
Midus stood to his feet, turning around and facing to look out the window onto the expanse of the GTB land, a sea awaiting at the horizon near the beach area.
"It has been six years since I took up control of this great tournament. Time has not aged it one bit. May the tournament proceed appropriately."
"Yes, sir," Alex answered, giving a bow.
But as he did, an unseen twisted grin stretched across the red-head's face.

[Chapter 2 - Midus Missing]
During the day of the fights, as people cheered and shouted within the stadium at the fights currently happening, an event was taking place silently unbeknownst to most of them. One by one, officials and security throughout the grounds were disappearing as a unknown group of suited men moved across the various buildings, from the hotel where fighters were staying at to the infirmary where their wounds were treated to. It was only minutes after noon when the explosion on the top floor of the headquarters occurred. The fire department rushed immediately to calm down the fire, which took around ten minutes. When everything was finally ceased, the investigators of the GPD, the Gaian Police Department, who were commissioned for GTB, came in and did a forensics on the area.
Most of the staff inside the building had gotten out safely. Unfortunately, those who were on the top floor during the time of the explosion were found dead, which was totaled up to eleven killed. However, despite this, the only corpse not found in his office was Midus Sonners. Unlike the others, there was no remains of his body at all. Upon bringing in a scryer, it was concluded that Midus Sonners, in one way or another, was not present in the immediate area. Thus, he had been declared...
"Missing."
An announcement was now playing through large and small televisions throughout the GTB, both in public places and in the rooms of the hotels. They were also being shown throughout the televisions in the infirmary. Large screens were placed on a building here and there, which allowed broadcasting of announcements of this scale. And today, informing everyone of the current situation was considered top priority.
Standing behind a pedestal was a top official of GTB, Alex, speaking out to the many who were watching this broadcast.
"It appears that during the fights today, a mysterious group attacked both security and Mr. Midus himself. It is unfortunate to say that a few casualties have occurred from this attack. And the president himself has gone missing. On top of that, we have had a few people show distaste for the qualities of the fight, as there has been a higher number of fatalities in the fights today than there has ever been in the GTB. This includes the controversy of the death of a child participant, which we admit, does not paint a good picture of our social responsibilities.
"Due to the accumulated circumstances, we have decided a course of action to take in accordance of these immediate problems we face. First and foremost, we will work with the protesters to come to an agreement of a code of standard to follow to allow for more public friendly fights. In addition, an age requirement will likely be implemented for the next GTB. We are currently working with the Gaian Police Department to find out what has occurred here and to try to apprehend those who have caused harm to our organization.
"Finally...until we can finalize what has happened to Mr. Midus Sonners...I, Alex Arion, will be the acting president until further notice. Thank you."

[Chapter 3 - Hidden Intent]
An hour after Round Two ended...
News reporter vehicles and police cars were scattered about the run down part of Barton Town, news reporters and cops interviewing various people who lived there. It was only moments ago when information of fights happening here and there was spoke about. The police were notified, but intentionally delayed their response simply because the GTB had reserved the area for their fights. Though, "buying them out" was the more precise term, as the residents were not evacuated in order to keep as little buzz about it as possible until it was over. The GTB supplied as much security as feasible around the area to keep its residents and businesses safe, though there was some damage and casualties here and there that were covered up almost immediately with the sway of cash and hush-hush.
“Yeah. I could have sworn I saw someone who looked like Deadpool fighting a catgirl with a cowboy outfit.”
“It was a fox, you idiot!”
“Yeah, fox, cat, they’re all the same to me. They were swinging swords and throwing fire around.”

“There was this big guy who had like a shield and a sword, ya know like the guys back in the medieval times, going against this smaller fellow. I just stayed back because I wasn’t about to get into that. But that big fellow was tall, black, and handsome, mhmm.”
__________________
“I thought the entire block was going to go up in flames. There was some good looking elf creature, too, holding onto these large axes. I swore that asian guy she was fighting was going to get his a** killed. Then he just creates an explosion out of nowhere. That’s some crazy stuff.”

“Man, this girl in some ninja suit was in this trashcan. Then there was this other guy, man, who was fighting her. Then they got like connected to some metal chain. After that, they were just throwing each other around by it, man.”

“I thought it was a joke at first. A kid fighting a this woman with shields. She was big, too, so I thought it was his mother at first. And if she was, she’s a bad mother to begin with. She manhandled that kid like it was nothing. But this kid wasn’t normal. He could call out lightning. The worst part was that he got struck by the woman’s shield and was suddenly bleeding everywhere. I was startled when this demonic voice came bursting from him. At that point, I thought this was hell. And I live here in the worst part of Barton Town, mind you.”

“There was a frog man and a masked man. What else is there to say?”

The interviewed man was dressed in a strange yellow suit with a headband around his head with purple hearts on his knees. His fat stomach was bulged past his open yellow jacket as he leaned back and released a cry that could hurt the ******** Aladdin s**t, man.”
And other interviews like this took place. Most of it was hearsay or just indirect observation of hearing strange loud sounds taking place around the area. Meanwhile, a blackout had occurred during this time, taking out part of the district and part of Barton Town in general. The electricity company had gone right to work to restore it, claiming it was the result of a powerful surge from one of their power transformers closeby. Someone or something must have done this, for it definitely didn’t come from an internal source. Maybe it was the result of one of the fights that took place around here.
-------------------------------------------------------
Back at the GTB, the participants were returned to the grounds and allowed to go rest, whether it would be at the infirmary or back at the hotel. The fights were finished and the officials went right to work to making their decisions of who goes on to the next round.
Inside the GTB HQ, within the office of Alex Arion, the acting president was seated back as he tossed a ball up and down. The doors opened up, two people stepping through inside. One was a tall man, bulged at the arms, with dreads hanging from his head tied into a ponytail. He wore a black suit with a dark blue tie. The other was a woman, shorter than him, with blonde hair slicked back against her head and down to her shoulders. A few sharp bangs hung from forehead as light blue eyes shone toward Alex as her teeth glinted from a smile. She was in a white suit with a black tie.
“We got a present for you~,” she cooed, stepping up to the desk and placing down a black box.
Alex placed the ball aside as he leaned forward, reaching his hand across toward the awaiting container. He dragged it toward himself; his thumbs unclasped the tab that kept it closed, and opened it. The light shone onto a green emerald lying in its cushion. It wasn’t just a natural shine, but one given off by some mystical energy hidden within. Alex picked it up from out of its rest, the green reflecting off his red eyes as he stared at it with delight.
“Was it easy,” he asked, his eyes never leaving the jewel he held within his grasp.
The woman rose her right hand, a few sparks of electricity dashing between her fingers for a brief moment.
“As simple as turning off a light switch.”
Meanwhile on Barton Town News…
”Today, police have reported that a rare jewel has been stolen from Barton’s Museum of History. The jewel is known as Dryad’s Tear, said to have belonged to an ancient tribe that once lived in the forest of Everlive one thousand years ago."

The statue of a mermaid with her hands pressed together holding a shining blue gem stood in the middle of a natural fountain, water pouring forth from the base of it as it rushed into a stream that flowed off into various parts of the forest. Rays of sunlight broke through the overhanging trees, giving the pond a sparkling appearance. Butterflies of various colors fluttered around, their wings letting off a mystic glow that seemed to be reflected from the surface of the running water. It was here where the presence of magic in Everlive forest was greatest, and was the source of the place's enchanting presence.
Three individuals stood around it, staring at the pristine scenery before them, each a subordinate of the president. The bigger one had braids cascading down his back, a white-skinned male with a good build of muscle. His name was Dalin. The second was the yellow blond that brought the green emerald that was apprehended from the Barton musuem. She was Larx. And the third one was a guy standing there playing with a blue sitar. He had blond hair that was spiked up like some kind of rockstar, though he had the presence of a metrosexual pop star. This was Dex. Music was pouring from his instrument as he manipulated the waters to spiral about, granting them easy access to the jewel that awaited them. As the path spread before them to open the bed of this stream, a torrent of water rushed upwards, forming into a gigantic sphere before them.
"Looks like it's angry," said Larx as she pulled out her daggers, electricity spouting from them as they were drawn. Dalin, in turn, removed his halberd from his back, resting it in front of him. "Anytime, water boy!"
"Music takes time," Dex shot back with a more happy tone, his blue eyes looking upon the monstrosity that erupted before them. It was a Greater Water Elemental, a guardian over the magic of this shrine. It stood there with its massive arms, ready to push back any that dared to interrupt the peace of this area.
"You're taking too much time!”
The water elemental drew back its arms before throwing them forward, ready to drown them all in a watery grave. Just then, a spring of melodies poured from Dex’s instrument, a wave of magic erupting through the music as the elemental came to a stop. Dex’s arms swung violently as his fingers masterfully crafted the tones that erupted from each string, overriding control of the elemental and taking it into his own possession. Such a skill was a very difficult task for any person to break, but Dex’s affinity to water, along with his great sounding music, made this process a lot easier.
Soon, he finished his song with a reverberating tune, and the monster ceased to act, dropping back down into the water in a pour of defeat, refilling the pond again. Dex skipped himself across the surface, walking upon the water with ease before he plopped the gem off its perch and presented it to his fellow friends.
“And here you are, ladies and gentlemen. The Undine Gem!”
----------------------------------------------------------
[The Den of the Serpents]
Music, gambling, fun, all the vices of men laid dormant in the next arena for the semi finals of the Gaian Tenkaichi Budokai. As people were drawn into the spirit of combat about to unfold within these halls, a deal was taking place behind the scenes. Once more, these three individuals who had obtained the prize of the Undine Gem had now come to receive their next reward. Zantara was his name, the seller of the Jinn Gem. In exchange for hosting the semi finals in his halls, they would receive this item in kind. The surge of business would only help the cleric, and thus, each person got what they wanted in the end. The business of this trade, of course, was not known pass the doors that sealed off the public, and Alex would have it no other way.
The acting president himself sat there across from Zantara, comforted in his red suit. He gazed upon the light blue gem, his eyes captivated by the magic that glinted from within.
“A pleasure doing business with you. Enjoy the tournament.”
