Here, level one monsters roam free. Its the perfect area for starting out, with vast fields freckled with trees and breezes ruffling the grass. Nothing here is much of a threat, but its a good place for anyone to start.

XXXThe two landed on the island with about 2 seconds left on their flight timers, meaning that the other players had no chance of catching up with them, or even accessing the island until the higher levels were cleared. He looked around, and after whispering a few words, a wall of water surrounded the two seemingly out of the ground. He stretched his arms and sighed, getting ready for the fight. "They're a bit stronger to kill, but if you use sword skills with magic it should take no time at all to clear this place before they start respawning again." He said, smirking over to his best friend. He removed the bow from his back and notched an arrow on the basic weapon, his sword seeming to draw itself and twirl around him slightly. "Of course, i gave myself unique skills that were better suited to my insane fighting style. READY SET GO." He smirked, dashing through the wall, the spell breaking as the water seemed to turn to a think mist that covered most of the island for a few seconds. In that time, he had shot three arrows and killed two of the boars, the least of his worries. The wolves that charged him had both higher attack and speed, but less durability. He easily slashed one in two with a sword skill that launched him forward a few feet, launching into the air with a flip before shooting the wolf that jumped after him square in the eyes, causing him to explode in a localized rainbow-glitter explosion. Instead of it looking like panes of glass shattering, it looked more like you hit a pixie with a tennis racket.

Chacho

Chacho was whipping through kills, watching her EXP counter rise as she slashed and blasted through mobs. She was utilizing her unique skill, spells tumbling out of her mouth as she slashed through the creatures with her rapier. Being level one, she wasnt used to her speed skill being so low again, and one of the boars had actually flanked her and knocked her over. With a sigh, she summoned her pet. About the size of a lynx, it sported a cheetah pattern with a black mane and dragon wings. It was her pet, as a beast tamer, and one for the use of attacking. Her pet, named Lola, started her own small rampage, taking anything down that tried to attack her master. Once again, Chacho was able to continue her charge.

XXXBoth Chacho and himself were clearing these monsters with great ease, though both of them were still adjusting to the lower stat system. As a gm, he could increase their levels now if he wanted, but he preferred an honest method for leveling. By the end of their barrage, and after diving infront of multiple wolves and boars to spare both Chacho and Lola, his health was in the yellow by the time their cleared the floating rock. WIth a light sigh, he muttered the spell from before and pointed, a water wall forming around the edge of the island that they were sitting on. He sat down and took three waters from his inventory, along with a bowl, and sighed once more. Pouring a bowl of water for Lola, he tossed the other bottle to Chacho. He opened and downed his own, laying back in the grass to take a breather. His archery skill was leveling faster than he expected, and he was already a level three in archery. He hadn't anticipated the amount of arrows he would be firing at one point in time. He went through his menu, allowing his arrows to be replaced by ones of higher quality with slightly higher attack rating. His bow, however, remained the same. "I don't care if people hated SAO, but i can honestly say i've missed this more than I missed the real world when i was in here the first time." He said, smiling as he stared up into the sky. Both he and Chacho were almost level twos already, and Lola was already getting noticeably more proficient. Maybe he should have left the experience reward the same, even though the difficulty was increased...

Chacho

I don't miss the dying part... Chacho mused. Lola had her tail curled around her paws as she lapped up her bowl of water, her master sipped hers less fervently. The cait stretched back, looking warily at the walls of water. Chacho hated water which might have been because of her more cat like tendencies. Instead, she scooted a little further away. She flicked her hand open, looking at her stats. Already her sword and magic skills had gotten to level three, and because of Lola, her taming skill had also increased. Nodding with satisfaction, she closed her menu, eyes lingering on the space where the logout button was. What happens when we die in here. She blurted out, regretting the question once it left her lips.

XXXOnce the question left her lips, the lingering smile on his face seemed to instantly disappear. He removed his sunglasses and sat up, unequipping them from his avatar. Sighing lightly, he scratched his head. "First of all, you won't be dying. Once Koku logs in, you'll have two people playing forward with you playing support from the back. You'll be safe; like in SAO, and unlike ALO, supporting characters won't be targeted by opponents." He tried to assure her, knowing that the actual answer was necessary at this point. "The way all the nerve gear works, it can be used to distort memory recall. When a player dies in game, their memories are erased along with all data on their NerveGear or whatever they're using. It also destroys the device so it can't be used again." He said softer, sighing heavily at the end. He decided to keep the number of casualties that had already occurred to himself; no need to make her panic. "Speaking of death and such," he began tossing a health potion her way, "can you heal me? If you're going to be a support player, you might want to start leveling up your healing magics." He said, sticking out is tongue and laughing lightly. He was trying to lighten the mood and take her mind off the general repercussions of dying. It was in fine print at the very bottom of the webpage, so most people has no idea what would happen if they died. And, unfortunately, somewhere around 15 probably had already died at this point.

Chacho

Chacho sat up quickly, her green eyes catching her friend's. How many people have died. It was more of a demand than a question, but there wasn't any way Teddy was getting out of this one. How many, Taki. Her voice was dead calm, void of emotion, which was never a good sign. She sat, staring him down, as she waited for her answer.

XXXHe knew that tone, and growled lightly, causing Lola to hiss at him. "Oh, shut up." He barked, causing her to hide behind Chacho. He shook his head and ran his fingers through his hair, staring off into the horizon momentarily before flicking his left hand down to access the menu. Where the loggout button was supposed to be, he had another menu beneath it that was also blank. When selected, his iris' had a slight orange tint around the edges; he had encrypted the moderator menu so only he could see the information on it. Luckily, the number had only gone up to 14. There was also a notice that software was defective, and it erased only the short-term memories before the game was started. He chuckled. "I'm apparently not as smart as i once thought. As of now, after two hours or so of starting the game, only 14 people have died thus far. But one good thing is that it deletes only the short term memory, which is only about a week or so of memory. So they'll only forget everything about the game, and the week leading up to them logging in." He replied, standing up. He cracked his back silently, turning his back to his friend as he looked up into the sky. He could tell that they were going to excell far past normal levels if they stayed here to rest, and they were only a wave, two at most, before the sun would be set. "But unless you're comfortable sleeping here, we should get going now. If you are, we have two waves before the sun goes down completely." He said, keeping his eyes affixed to the Dungeon tower he had in his sights. You had to be at least level 10 to enter the dungeon, to prevent some hot-headed player from rushing in right after the start of the game.

Chacho

14..She murmured. That either meant that the level one monsters was way too overpowered or some people had raced off into the stronger areas, and none but a few were that stupid. Chacho hissed, mimicking Lola, and her pet purred affectionately behind her. The cait growled a little more noticeably and stalked out to the edge of the island, facing the tower. If the memory lapse was only a week, it wasn't too terrible. But the ethics were still just wrong. She crossed her arms as a strong breeze blew her long hair over her features. She looked completely serene other than her flattened ears and lashing tail, which were the only dead giveaways to her anger. She was tempted to fly back, but that would achieve nothing. She traced the health vial absentmindedly with her hand, just thinking.

XXXWithout even turning to face her, he could tell that she was livid. He couldn't blame her; he was defying the general law of ethics that the world ran on, but it was less severe than the program that he had gotten it from. If he hadn't edited the program at all, then death in this world would be death in the real world as well. And both he and Chacho knew people who died within the original Aincrad and indeed never returned. He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair once more, his sword dislodging from the soil though he didn't lift a finger. His bow also floated into his hand, As he spun around and walked over to Chacho. "I understand why you're mad; I messed with the code of ethics. I'd also understand if you hated me for it. But please understand that the consequences really aren't severe, not at all. You know I could have done far worse." He said, sighing at the end. "Why don't you sit this one out to think and rest. Trust me, the monsters on the islands can't be detected from the ground and they constantly respond in order to balance out the player/monster ratio if needed, so there will be plenty more. I'll be back shortly." He said, leaping over the wall of water. He made sure to sprint and leap all during their last fight, his speed skill significantly higher than it was before. Once he landed, the monsters on the fairly sizable island turned toward him. Bring it. He thought, rushing forward.

Notching two arrows, he shot them with expert precision and struck two boars between the eyes, killing them instantly. His sword went well past his reach and struck down two wolves that had advanced toward him. His sword skills were superbly timed, one killing two in one go. He kept firing arrows and sprinting around the island, increasing his speed, attack, archery, and swordsmanship stats incredibly. He made quick work of the island this time, switching from using his bow by hand to his sword, his bow now acting as a sort of turret by his side. Though this method takes an unprecedented more concentration, he decided that leveling his blocking skill was also something that would eventually come in handy. Now, he spent more time blocking with his sword and taking down the monsters with his bow, only using his sword when he had to. Using his wings would make the fight monumentally easier, but then his flight level would increase, when he could work on his combat oriented stats now. It would be easier to level up the flight ability when all the quests on this level were completed and people started exploring the dungeon, rather than when there was a plethora of monsters that needed a good slaying.

At the end of his battle, he flipped back over the wall of water, landing on one foot with ease. Without sharing the experience, he had leveled up far faster than the two had the first time, though his health bar had just entered the red after being bit on the side by the last wolf type monster. He flopped onto his back, staring off into space before muttering something idly. "Ouch." He said, chuckling lightly afterward."I wouldn't suggest doing that, if i were you. it was utterly terrible." He said, rolling over on his stomach. Going through his menu once more, he selected two sleeping bags from his inventory and placed them inside the wall. He also selected timber, and whispered a few words to catch them on fire as the sun began to set. He ate a piece of bread and drank a bottle of water and his health rose into the yellow, so he decided to sleep the rest off. "If you want to go out for another go, heal me and i'll make sure nothing touches you. If not, night hun. Sleep well." He said, crawling into his bed, changing into casual clothes as he zipped the thing up, curling up next to the fire before he started to doze.

Jayson Matthews

Jayson crouched in the tall grass of the Hunting Grounds, back on the main land. He had made note of 2 others whom launched themselves off toward an island, but he didn't expect them to have made the jump. As the man sat hunched below the meadow grass, he watched: wild bore, wolves, and foxes race through the land.

Jay chose stalking the wolves above all, because it increased his stealth tremendously, as well as giving combat expierience for each kill. He had been killing wild-life for what felt like an hour, and his level was just reaching the end of two. Jay stood from the grass, causing several animals to scatter from him, but also caused two wolves to move in on him.
Jayson's vision flashed red from the edges to alert him of the danger. He pulled Bolrikai from his back, and waited for the attack. His blade began to glow red as Jayson focused his attack. He slashed the first wolf, cutting down its side. As he finished the initial slice he spun and stabbed his sword into the second wolf.

Jayson heard a ping and his sword flashed gold, and Bolrikai transformed into a Barbed Sword . He swung the blade around his body and sheathed it on his back. "Guess it's time to call it a night." He said walking back towards the Town of Beginnings.

Chacho

Chacho had been fighting all night. So many times had her health dropped far into red, but she was also practicing her healing magic, leveling up the skill as much as she could. What Taki said infuriated her, she was taking her anger out on the mobs. All night she cleared, waited for respawn, and cleared again. She could feel herself getting stronger. Her Magic, Sword Skill, Healing, and Speed were climbing rapidly the more and more she used them. When the sun came back up she was ready for a new weapon, and slightly upgraded armor. Looking over to her sleeping companion, she sighed. They were listed as friends, he could find her if he wanted. With a low whistle to Lola, she rocketed off the island, heading straight for the town of beginnings. She was hungry, exhausted, and in need of gear, so naturally that was the place to be. She also wanted to clear her head.

XXXSitting up, he stretched and yawned to the sunrise. Looking over, the bed-roll beside him was empty. Looking at the respawn history, Chacho had been fighting all night for whatever reason. Well, at least she has a high level now. She can take care of herself for a day. He thought, growling lightly. But she just left him up on the island; goof friend, eh? Shaking his head, he stood up as he grumbled, putting the bed-rolls back into his inventory as he picked up both his bow and sword with his telekinesis, testing to see how he could do the two at the same time. Unhappy with the slowness of the ability at that time, he just grabbed his sword from mid-air and charged through the water-wall. His eyes widened as he skidded to a stop, almost the entire island absolutely covered in monsters. Leaping back, he started to use magic when they began to charge him, leaving him out of time for parlor tricks. He smiled and shook his head, charging forward. Dodging bodies and slashing fiercely, the bow that stayed locked by his side essentially never stopped shooting arrows off into the monsters. Apparently, enough people had logged in to call for a higher quantity monster respawn, using the same respawn timer as before. Goddamn...

Breathing heavily, he stood on the empty island eyeing the Tower off in the distance. His health bar was deep in the red, the numeric value in the single digits. He drank a health potion, noticing he only had one more left. He had leveled an unprecedented amount during that fight, and it almost cost him his life. Forming a quick wall of water, he looked at the mod menu to compare his level with everyone else's; the only player who outranked him was Chacho. He audibly laughed, shaking his head; did she leave right before he woke up? He accessed the mod menu again and reset the respawn timers for the floor, making the max amount of monsters appear everywhere. A reckless decision, but he really wanted to level some more. Yelling words to a spell, the wall of water shot outward, casting a multitude of rapid fire ice spears toward the angry beasts. Most of them were killed, and his magic skill skyrocketed upward, causing a smile to surface to his lips; he could do this. Hesitating for a second, he accessed the mod menu and reset the respawn timers once more; other than him, no one else had killed any monsters in that short time frame, so it wouldn't affect anyone else. He then charged through the wall, fighting once more for his life.

This time on his knees, his health was almost down to one as he stared onward off the island, his breathing ragged and forced. D-damn... He thought, getting up. taking his last health potion, he felt perfectly rejuvenated. Spectacular, even. He checked the menu again to see that many characters were approaching Chacho's level, but he was already surpassed her then some. He sighed, running his fingers through his hair. That would have to be the only time he would access the mod menu for personal gain; now he really felt guilty about it. He walked to the opposing edge of the island and saw Chacho zooming toward the island, so he dashed across and slid off, catching himself on one of the vines hanging down from the rock. From where he was hanging, he was invisible to the Cait Sith who was just landing on the Island. Silently and expertly, he launched himself perfectly downward and then jetted across the ground, headed back to the town of beginnings.

Chacho[/i]

Chacho skidded to a halt on the island, it only took her a second to look around before she realized Taki wasn't there. The beast tamer scoffed, one-shotting a monster as it noticed her and began to charge. Within thirty seconds of her being on that island, she was zooming back to the town of beginnings. Taki could do the dungeon, she didn't care she would just advance to the higher level mobs and keep training.

n i m m
Karis Fujisaki

After leaving the starting town, Nimm had taken off into the air and glided in the sky, enjoying the feel of the cool breeze on her face. Night had fallen, but that didn't really matter. Imps had considerably high-level Night Vision compared to most of the other races, and that wouldn't stop her from training at night. The small figure touched down back to earth and unsheathed her sword, while operating her menu with one hand. Interestingly enough, there was one skill that was colored gray, meaning it was locked. 'Guess that's gonna be unlocked once I reach a certain level... Nimm decided not to take notice as of now, and looked around the grounds. There was evidence that people had recently been training here, as monsters were one again beginning to respawn in the area. She smiled grimly, and as soon as she got into a boar's aggro range, she took off running, soon amassing a herd of wolves and boars behind her. Nimm whipped around, and her sword glowed a brilliant blue, the starting of a sword skill known as <>.

With that, she began hacking, slicing, cutting, and slashing her way though the mob of monsters. This was Nimm's so-called "suicide" tactic (for soloing at least), luring a huge group of monsters her way and fighting all of them. It reduced her HP bar quite a lot, but it was a good technique to level up quickly. The Imp took a small break to mutter a string of words under her breath. It was a healing spell, yet it had a gradual effect, and since her HP was at the further end of the yellow zone, it wasn't the most useful spell she could use. For one that had more of an immediate effect, she would have to level up her Magic skill first. To buy her some time, Nimm unfolded her bat-like wings and flew upwards to rest for a bit. She was hovering in mid-air, and so all the monsters could do was snap blindly at the air (in the wolves case), or wander off. After her HP had increased back to the very cusp of the green part, Nimm rocketed back down like an arrow, stabbing one of the wolves on the way down. It let out a timid howl, which somehow served to summon more of the beasts to its aid. Nimm let out a sigh and resumed attacking. Soon, the entire group had flashed out into blue polygons, and the girl sat down on a rock. She had gotten a big amount of exp, going up to level 2 and a good amount of Col and items had dropped as well. The fields seemed suspiciously empty, and it wasn't until Nimm had opened her menu did she notice the time. 'Should get going, she realized wearily. Nimm sheathed her sword and started flying back in the direction of town.
