Nicolas was almost instantly greeted with the sting of the cool night air as he exited the tunnel. It didn't slow him down any, though a sudden yawn that he had to make did. It is pretty late, isn't it? If I plan on starting my vacation after this delivery, I should probably just get it over with and go home to sleep. he thought to himself with a slightly disappointed look on his face before reaching for a fairly worn and sandblasted Pokeball on his belt.
Too bad, I really wanted to do some more running. Ah well, plenty of time for that during my vacation. Nicolas mentally pouted as he sent out the Pokemon inside the ball, an oddly colored Vibrava that looked around briefly before flying around rapidly. Ordinarily, Vibrava either had a green coloration or, rarely, a rusty red coloration, but not Quartz. For some reason, her coloration was an odd mixture of both, leaving her eyes, wings, and tail fins green with a red tint, though it was somewhat concealed in the darkness of the night. In the daytime, though, there was no mistaking it.
Nicolas chuckled quietly at his Vibrava's antics as she rapidly buzzed throughout the sleepy town, careful not to fly too low and cause a disturbance but still seeming rather hyper. "Once you're done playing around I'm going to need your help, alright Quartz?" he asked his teammate on one of her lower passes over him, to which she paused briefly. "Vibra! Vi vibra!" she quickly chattered in reply before flying upwards again, chasing some opponent that she pretended was there, one of her games that she liked to play from when she had evolved.

After several minutes of buzzing around in circles, spirals, and twists, Quartz finally came back down and hovered in front of Nicolas, looking at him expectantly. "Glad to see you're having a good time tonight, Quartz," he happily said to the strange-colored Vibrava, chuckling slightly as he did so. "I need you to fly me over to Lavaridge Town, alright?" he calmly asked the Pokemon, reaching out a hand to rub her on the head.
To the very slight surprise of Nicolas, Quartz suddenly flew back out of his reach and gave him a mischievous look. "Vibra! Vi vibrava vibra vi!" she chittered at him, to which she got a chuckle from her trainer in response. "You want to go somewhere too, huh?" he asked her with a raised eyebrow some amusement in his voice, not because he understood her language, but because the two of them had some variation or other of the discussion they were currently having whenever he needed her to fly him somewhere.
Nicolas laughed for a moment, then gave his Vibrava a smile before speaking again. "Alright, alright, we'll go somewhere for a little while after I finish my delivery. Only a little while, though!" Nicolas pointed his finger at Quartz as an instruction to pay attention to that part, not that he needed to. "We're traveling again in the morning, so we're all going to need our sleep so we don't fall asleep in the middle of the road. Again," he continued, chuckling a bit as he remembered one of the times he had been going from one town to the other and the next thing he recalled was waking up in the middle of the dirt path of the route.
After giving her trainer a nod, Quartz flew over to Nicolas and grabbed him in the back with her feet. She didn't even bother to make a noise of warning before suddenly vibrating her wings at high speed, lifting the two of them off the ground with a fair amount of ease. Thankfully, one, her trainer was fairly light for someone of his height and age, so she didn't have to worry about him too much, and two, she had been flying him around off and on for about eleven or twelve years by that point. She was stubborn, and when Nicolas got older, instead of just sitting around, expecting him to catch some bird Pokemon or other to fly him around, she just kept training so she could keep lifting his weight anyway. As she felt her trainer slightly move, Quartz flew off towards his intended destination, the town of Lavaridge.
