History: Shouta doesn’t remember much about his childhood. Most memories are just vague nightmares that wrack his brain and strain both his strength as well as his sanity. From what he can gather, Shouta’s family was murdered. He remembered nothing of the attacker but it’s presence was similar to that which he feels among Kishin. His hatred of the demons seems to be deep rooted and too much a part of him to be removed or rehabilitated.
All of that being said, Shouta’s notable background begins around his early teenage years. He’s known of his Weapon capabilities for as long as he can remember insinuating that his parents may have been a family aware of Shibusen, Demon Weapons, and Meisters. Shouta was introduced into the school at age 16 and up until then had all but concealed his abilities in order to blend in with society. Before leaving his run-down apartment and his grocery bagging job there was an incident where Shouta discovered a Kishin Egg killing in an alleyway. Shouta had never encountered a monster before, to his knowledge, but something about the creature reacted negatively towards him. He flew into a rage as he mercilessly attacked the creature with no training. Shouta was severely injured from the fight but the Kishin fell victim to his uncharacteristic rage. Having had his abilities discovered as well as being accused of being the monster of the two who had fought, Shouta was forced to recover alone and leave soon after.
One of Shouta’s physicians seemed to know exactly what Shouta was and informed him of a school that might be able to assist him with his abilities, and having nowhere else to go, Shouta happily obliged. Using the last of his money he caught a bus to Nevada where he walked 3 days to Death Valley and to Death City.
Shouta was instantly happy to be around others like him and he found that many had stories that could easily have been like his own if he only could have remembered. Shouta finished his first year at Shibusen without a partner. His methods were uncanny and virtually unheard of, as he was a weapon who fought mostly without transforming. He excelled in martial arts after some training and some strange power came over him while in a fight with a Kishin, that seemed to radiate him with rage. His fights always cost him heavily but no Kishin ever escaped. Having no meister, Shouta was forbidden to collect souls, making his missions extra-curricular and therefore making him appear as a sub-par student. It gave Shouta plenty of free time where he began to research his town looking for clues to his past and what exactly he was.
Much to the now young man’s horror, Shouta found an article in the schools database, describing in explicit detail the events carried out by a pair of Kishin Egg’s that showed higher intelligence. As the story read, These Kishin stole the youngest child of a clan of demon weapons while massacring the rest. Reports state that the Kishin’s intention was to fuse Kishin madness into a weapon through blood and instead of creating a black blood it became something that seemed to react violently with the Madness wavelength. Supposedly, the experiment turned on them when the young boy attacked the pair that official police reports dub as the child’s “parents”. The image on the article was the last thing Shouta remembered from his childhood. The figures of two slaughtered individuals, presumed to be his parents but now he saw them for what they were, a couple of deformed monstrosities.
Shouta has never discussed his true history with anyone although he suspects that professors and Shinigami have already put two and two together that he is some failed experiment that struck down his own captors. Shouta feels that the details are better spared anyway. The point to him is he’s the last of his clan to which he doesn’t even know the name and he owes them his life, wiping out as many of these Kishin as he could. Shouta is about to start his second year at Shibusen and plans focus his attention on getting a partner this year.
Personality: Despite a gruesome past, Shouta doesn’t mope around or avoid people. He’s confident and social reaching out to anyone he can. He jokes and works hard to make friends. He takes pride in masculinity, almost to a point that’s overcompensating. Kaine enjoys exercising and honing his martial arts but it’s not all work. Shouta plays sports, flirts, and even cooks. Shouta is socially awkward when he doesn’t feel manly or has been deprived a masculine activity and much like Death the Kid’s OCD it can be more of a detriment to him but certainly amuses others. At his best he’s laughing and amusing others with his antics, at his worse he comically expresses his emotions in a way that’s hard to take seriously but in the heat of battle he becomes stern and experienced, counting on his courage and stoicism to pull him through.
Shouta likes football, dirty magazines, a well cooked meal and pretty much anything that allows him to express his manliness. He dislikes people who don’t take the fight against madness seriously and he hates the stuffy teenage prodigy assassin type that tends to make up a huge population at Shibusen. Shouta sees this last dislike in the light of “If you had bad things happen to you, get over it. We all have a story and you aren’t special.” Shouta often refers to these people as “Sasuke” for some unknown, forth wall breaking, reason.
Orientation & Lover: Presumably straight as he flirts strongly with women.
Other:Shouta gives off a unique wavelength Tainted by madness. This hybrid wavelength instills its holder with rage in the presence of madness or insanity. While it bears no strength against opponents the weapon and user seem to be unaware of all but the most crippling wounds until after the fight. The wavelength requires a headstrong team to wield as it becomes a mesh of both meister and weapon’s anger. Shouta’s most powerful ally would be someone with repressed trauma such as his own or deep seated hatred that can't be expressed through any means other than combat ferocity.
