Not sure if anyone else has seen the movie version of thus that just came out or not, but for any that have (or even if you've seen the musical), I'm curious what you think.

Les Miserables is a story that has been close to me for a very long time, likely because an amazing teacher introduced me.

Seeing the movie however, it was just...wow. It really makes you think about just how important it is to do what we can to love and care for others. The story is all redemption, hope, and loving others in the midst of hopelessness and despair.

I'm curious, for anyone else that's seen it, what you think of it. Care to share? :3

Wow! I can't believe anyone replied to this!

I got to see the movie in theatres with my grandma and my boyfriend. The singing was beautiful and the acting was great. I loved Jean ValJean (Not sure if I spelled that right...); it was so admirable what he did. And, don't tell anyone, I thought he was kind of cute, after he was out of jail and before he got older. You know, in the beginning sort of. Ahem, anyways.

The only thing I didn't like about that movie was the Cosette and Marius romance. I just couldn't get myself to believe that they would see each other once and fall desperately in love. I hated even more how Eponine was so in love with him (for a long time), and how he just didn't even notice or care and in the fraction of a second, fell head over heels in love with someone else. It was beautiful what Jean did to save Marius' life though, and it was so sad when Eponine sacrifised herself.

Great movie though. :] What'd you think of it?

I didn't really like Cosette's character, like when she got older. It's not so much that I disliked her, I just felt like we really didn't get to see anything of her character. She was kind of just...there. I do think Amanda sang her part well, however, and I don't think it's her fault that I found it difficult to connect with her character.

I do kind of like Marius and Cosette together, I think what they were trying to do is portray their first meeting as like, young love. Kind of like how some kids in high school will be all 'I'm so in love' when they really don't know the other person at all. I could be wrong though, I've never read the novel for Les Miserables (though I want to). Marius I don't think ever really noticed how Eponine felt about him, she hid it from him as she was afraid of being rejected by him.

I love love loved Jean Valjean's character. I also really like Fantine's character, even though you don't get to see very much of her.

There were a few things about the movie I didn't like, like they cut one of Fantine's songs short (in the movie it worked best but...but it was one of my favorite songs XD). I both liked and disliked Marius's voice. It sounded like he had a difficult time with the higher notes, and don't quite like his voice on the higher notes, but I love his voice on the lower notes.

I actually didn't mind Russel Crowe's signing, I think he could have put a bit more power or 'oomph' into his singing, but I don't think it was nearly as bad as people were saying.

Overall I really, really liked it :3 I think they did a really good job with not wrecking the story and stuff.
