It's been awhile. I wish I had good news of a personal nature. I don't.

However (and this made me think of my lovely wife a little extra) on the games front:

Baldur's Gate has been remastered. Enhanced Edition. I bought it through Amazon and have to deal with it through Steam but oh how good it is to have it back--even if I actually prefer Shadows of Amn. Shadows of Amn is supposed to be out this year. Can you say "squeal?" I know that you can. heart

After that...the company which I believe is Overhaul Games (too excited to remember important details) wants to tackle one of my top 5 all time favorites (and one that outranks BG/BGII) Planescape: Torment!!

And all of this beautiful wonderful information discovered accidentally while I was trying to make up my mind about Omerta: City of Gangsters.

I still haven't made up my mind. Still, after finding out Leverage ended all this game news is a balm.

Also awesome is the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Solution. Unbelievably effective for me.

I'm sorry the news is still bad for you Felly. It's pretty bad over here too.
Have some *HUGS*

Ooh I didn't know it had been remastered! I love Baldur's Gate but haven't been able to get it to work for ages...at least I have Steam so I should be able to manage that ^^

Er...forgive my silliness what's Shadows of Amn?

I've missed you! heart

I've been on a Skyrim high...and I've been playing Heroes of Might and Magic 3 a lot because it is a game I can quickly play at night before I go to bed. And also because my laptop cannot support Skyrim so I have to wait to play it for when I go home. Ugh, college.

ME>You'll have to take some *HUGS* back. I am likewise sorry to hear about drama on your end.

The BG remaster happened in November or December. I hadn't heard about it either. Stumbled on it completely by accident while I was looking at misc. information on Omerta: City of Gangsters (a bad guy simulation+story+mild rpg+party fight game.) I squealed and scared everybody.

BG2 Enhanced Edition (that's Shadows of Amn and a LEAGUES better game than the original in spite of all the carry-over stuff) is due out this year. In my top 10 favorite games of all time, Shadows of Amn was way higher on the list till I discovered Bloodlines and then Dragon Age came out.

1. Dungeon Keeper II
2. Planescape: Torment
3. Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
4. Menzoberranzan (would be #1 if I could still play it)
5. Dragon Age
6. Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn
7. Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (I love 2-5 on those)
8. Might and Magic 6 Mandate of Heaven
9. Clouds/Darkside of Xeen
10. Baldur's Gate

In terms of story Torment, Dragon Age, and Baldur's Gate 2 hold the top 3 spots in that order.

Coming in at 11 is Magic and Mayhem, again another one I can't play anymore but it would be in the top 10 if I could. 12 would be Might and Magic VII For Blood and Honor and Witcher 1 at #13.

As you can see it's very 3DO/Might and Magic heavy. They were great games up until 8 for M&M and 6 for Heroes. Don't get me started on the Nintendo DS Might and Magic game. I want to jump up and down on it. = There are other spinoffs but I'm not familiar with those.

*hugclings the Mich* You could do worse than Heroes. heart I won't comment on Skyrim as it nearly broke up my other marriage. I missed you tooo! So much. You have no idea.

In the last couple of days I've discovered gog.com (Great Old Games) and they have Torment for download, tweaked to run on XP/Vista/7 (with some extra free downloads applied of course.) I'm going to go for it. It's $10 and will hold me over until Overhaul Games figures out whether or not they're going to do theirs. (Doesn't look good because of the spiritual sequel and all the hissy fits gamers are throwing over BG1 and its gay character. Sorry folks, there have always been gay/bi possibilities in those games, puh-duh.)

I guess that's enough of a novella for you guys to read this time around. whee

It's not that much of a novella Felly ^^

I always seem to learn so much about games off of you two. I'm so out the loop.
I like gog too...It lets me play theme hospital...oh how I love tormenting my patients in that game ^^

Hmm might have to go for BG/BG2 then if it comes out. It will be good I think.

Should I ask how Skyrim of all things ruined your other marriage? Am I getting confused again?

2 posts in 1 day, wth? XD

Oh honey, I'm not so much in the loop either but I have my niche (epic cRPGs XD) and that's where I shine.

BGEE is still as hard as the original 1998 release. BG2 was much easier, offered more freedoms, more items and *fanfare* romance storylines that in some cases were really complicated to keep going. I find myself wondering if for BG2EE they will polish the unfinished romances for female PCs. In the original they only finished 1. And he was a paladin. And that sucked. It was sweet though if you played it through to the end. I did once. It made me cry. Lots of people will tell you you can play BG2 as standalone. I suppose you can, but since it does continue the story of your character in BG1 I like to run them both back to back with the same character. I honestly can't wait for 2 Enhanced Edition. I'm all excited. (And if you've played Dragon Age the base engine is really similar. DA's is just much more sophisticated. I always said that if BG had been made 10 years later it would BE Dragon Age, or make DA unnecessary.)

But better than both combined was Torment. Sadly it's much lesser known even if it is if not the best then one of the best cRPGs of all time. Thank the makers of Diablo II for its obscurity. The release date was pushed up to force Torment to the shadows and it worked.

Bullfrog Games was so outstanding. They were responsible for Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 and Theme Park World as well, which I also love. I have probably put just as many hours into TPW as DKII and that's saying something. I bet if I bought it the same thing would happen with Theme Hospital. *L* EA's stupidest decision was to do away with Bullfrog. And that's the truth. IIRC they admitted it themselves.

Skyrim...geh. Ok Mich is my wife and I love her so...she can play Skyrim, that's ok. heart But my husband got so into it that's all he did. Leaving me to handle the house, the bills, the meals and everything all with Bastian underfoot. No me time. I still don't have a lot. These games pause and sometimes stay so for hours.

He'd promised he would take care of B to give me breaks but it never happened. First it was due to Skyrim...now he's writing a book. Thank all that s**t for why "I'm not an artist anymore" is just about absolute truth. =( It's a shame. Art really made me happy. I just cannot get project-minded with the boy dog around. It's hard to finish something in 10 minutes.

*HUGS* We're lucky to have you for two posts Felly ^^

I like RPGS...I never did like shooters or strategy games much. I liked being able to wander and spend three hours finding that one stupid thing you needed to do the quest and I missed cus I'm dumb.

I'd probably play both. And I have noticed a lot of the time game companies do really stupid things. Like the pushing of Torment into the shadows and destroying Bullfrog. I loved theme park world, and my boy adored dungeon keeper. Theme Hospital is...just every bit as silly...and if you take all the doors away SOOO funny. (A bit like sims when you're truly cruel)

Ah...you meant Mich. I got confused see. I'm sorry he's leaving you to do everything...even more sorry you can't do any art. That is probably the worst thing.

I love Skyrim but I don't let it interfere with my life. Hell, when my boyfriend was here over the summer I even let HIM play. Crazy, I know.

Nobody should be that into a game. Nobody.

Also, I don't want to go to my next class. I hate it. Hate. It.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 14, 2013 6:00 am

*hugs Mich* I hope the next class was ok.
And no..no one should let something rule them so much. And it's fun to share. I wish we had more multiplayer games..for the same system? not the over the internet ones so I oculd play with my boy more.
