Hi, I live in Jacksonville, and I was wondering if we had any lawyers or law savvy people to tell me the laws of emancipation in Florida.

I just turned 15 years old, and i've been thinking about it for quite some time. I live with my grandparents, and my dad is nowhere to be seen. My mother is an avid smoker and drinker, and she used to be addicted to cocaine. She has only been here for about five years of my life in total. I sleep on the couch at my grandparents home, I have no room, and no privacy.

I've been dating this guy, his name is John. He just turned 18, and we've talked about me emancipating and moving in together in his home state, Louisiana. He's heard about my problems at home, and he wants to help me. I've looked up emancipation laws, but I haven't really found much that is solid to me. Can anybody help explain?

... do you know John IRL? This has so many red flags. And as an avid smoker, I have no idea why that would be a black mark against an individual. I've done the couch thing after the hurricanes trashed the house, and it feels like you live in a fishbowl. But my concern is that this would send you out of the frying pan and into the fryer.
