Knassas  Just at the foot of the Suuin Mountains, a small horse ranch is based at the crossroads. The residents are simple folk, living off the land thanks to hard work and ingenuity in the time of rebirth after Iakov's takeover. They remain neutral, preferring to be left to themselves rather than to be involved in the mess of politics. Avendean brought the head of the hammer down on the top of the metal wedge, splitting the log clean in half. A breeze picked up, causing him to shiver slightly. It was only just about the Equinox, but the chill in the air promised of a very cold winter to come. He stacked the freshly split wood in the shed and looked off into the trees. It was nearly a quarter of an hour past when Sam should have gotten there and he was beginning to wonder what could be taking him so long.

The laughter of his many step-siblings rang in his ears; it was an ever present sort of music that eased his mind and made home what it was. He paused for a moment to wonder what life would be like without it. The solitude of the road had very little appeal to him, but the tugging sensation his heart experienced when he thought of setting his eyes on the sea was the horn sounding the charge. He new it would never be silenced until it had been answered.
