 Pale green eyes surveyed the sand around her with a small sigh. She missed the forest. She missed her mother. She missed the world she had known before meeting that foul beast. Life had been much simpler then.
Braith felt out of place in this herd. The class structure was so strange from the family she had been raised in. The only anchor she had at all were the three beautiful foals born out of this whole mess. Her silver lining. The light of her life. The confusing, blinding, flashing light that made her stumble. But a beautiful light nonetheless.
The mare shot a glance to her little girl who was off in the distance stomping around in the sand and she smiled softly. What else could she do? She was mother now, heart and whole. Whatever that meant.
"Madhu, my love, do you want to go play?" she called out in a gentle voice to the young foal not far from her. He was always close at hoof. Not that it annoyed the young mother. In fact, it made her feel loved and wanted. It was endearing. But she worried about him. He was so shy.

Madhu was hidden in the bushes, watching his sister trying to stay out of the way. He lowered his ears and watched as Sadia frolicked not far away, if he tried that he'd end up flat on his face, or worse causing Sadia to hurt herself or.. some one else.
He'd learned pretty early odd things happened around him. He sighed meekly, hearing his mother he shook his head, well he wanted to play but he just couldn't, but he also wanted to be by his mother, which caused him to slip out of the brush, only to trip over his own feet and land in front of her.
This is why he didn't go play. put his fore hooves over his face which, made his entire posture look that much stranger. Why was he like this, Adil and Sadia never had as much trouble as he did. After a moment of laying there, meekly he stood, tried again to get to his mother, it seemed to work better the second time. His mother was always so warm, and he loved being with her, he felt safe there.
"I want to stay here." he said quietly beside her.

The sound of the bushes rustling beside her made the mare turn only see Madhu stumble his way out and land painfully in front of her. She made a concerned noise and stepped closer, nuzzling him as he got to his feet, inspecting him for any injuries he might have obtained in his little tumble. When she found him sufficiently okay she pulled her head away but gently pressed her side against his. Madhu always seemed most comfortable when close to her and this was the only way she could think to comfort him.
"Why do you not want to play?" she questioned gently, playfully flicking her tail towards him in hopes to make him smile. The boy was so quiet and sullen and she had no idea how to pull him out of her. Braith had been an only child and a fiercely independent at that. The mare was unsure of how to connect with him on this level.
"Not that I mind the company," she added quickly with another nuzzle to make sure that he was not thinking she was dismissing him as his father was often want to do.

Madhu said nothing when his mother inspected him,it was calming having his mother dote, he didn't feel so ashamed when he was with her his mother loved him for just being himself even if he was a shy child who found comfort in his mother. He was strange for this herd that expected so much from it's sons. Mama was was different she didn't expect the same, she was from somewhere else.
Madhu laughed a little as his mother flicked her hair him "Mama." he nuzzled her affectionately. "I feel safe, here." he spoke softly "I usually cause trouble anyway," he shifted uneasily though smiled at his mother when she nuzzled him.
"I love you mama," at least she loved him, he knew father didn't really care about him, he'd herd the trader stayed and raised those of his, why didn't father? His mood sullen again, as he glanced over to some foals playing a distance away before snuggling back up to his mother.

"You are safe here, my beloved little one," she responded before nuzzling the top of his head and inspecting his tiny little wings. So gentle. So fragile. Just like her little Madhu. She didn't know where he got these self-deprecating ideas from but it was heart breaking. All she wanted was for her little boy to be happy and healthy. To love himself as she loved him.
"What trouble, hm? Who says you cause trouble? You're still growing into your legs, my love, and balancing with wings is no small feat," she responded before pausing. He was so soft. So gentle. So full of love. How could anybody not see how much good was inside of him?
"I love you too. Say. Would you like to play with me?"

The ideas he had came from early on a long time ago, when he was just starting to walk, he had wanted to meet his father, it was probably the only thing he'd taken initiative to do but since then, Madhu had never had the confidence in himself to do anything else, he'd become clumsy and introverted. He never even told his mother he'd tried to meet his father. He'd run into his grandfather instead who'd consoled him at the time, he'd decided being with his mom was better, never going to see Tahmid again.
His tail flicked happily as his mother nuzzled him and looked at his wings. He fluttered them for her. Madhu was eternally grateful for his mother's strong optimism. Adil never had such trouble with his legs. ever, His sister seemed fine also. It was just him, His ears sunk a little as depressive thoughts started running through his head.
Braith's loving voice brought some life back into the colt, though he was content just to snuggle with his mother he still wanted to play with her. Madhu gave his mom a nod sending his mane flying all over his face. He attempted to blow it off. He gave her a cute little hop stumbling a bit but managed to keep himself standing and nodded again this time with a smile.

Every time she watched one of her babies flutter those tiny wings it brought a smile to her face. Perhaps their father was a waste of oxygen and did nothing but consume valuable resources that other stars could easily have had in his place, but he did do one good thing for Braith. He gave her the three loveliest presents she ever could have received.
Her smile broadened as Madhu stumbled to his feet, his mane in his face. So adorable. How could he think ill of himself? Bless him from his hooves to his heart, she thought.
"You ready, little one?"
She mare stood straight up before lowering her head down closer to his level, her smile turning into a mischievous smirk and she pawed at the ground in front of her with her front right hoof.
"Because I'm it! Better run!"

Madhu gave her a nod and smile and pranced in front of her, His mother made him happy. Despite all his flaws she was one of the few that loved him still. Even if he was a failure to be a proper colt.
He wasn't quite sure what the expression was she was giving. He looked slightly confused at first. She spoke playfully and madhu brightened like the sun. With his brightest laugh the colt as he bolted giggling his mom had made a funny face when she said it.
"You can't catch me momma!" he cried as he ran. He seemed to forget his clumsy legs for a time and run like the other foals laughing and prancing. Knowing his mother was on his heels. Momma was the best ever. Why would he want to go play with the other foals who made fun of him all the time? Madhu didn't understand why she wanted him to play with them all the time. they were mean always calling him unlucky.

Braith gave the little colt a head start, knowing her long legs would catch up to him with ease. A smile pulled at her lips and she watched him for a moment. Not a care in the world as he ran, mane fluttering behind him, his bracelets tinkling on as he took each step. If only he were this happy all the time. Her sweet little boy.
Once enough time had passed, she took off after him, laughing as she did to let him know she was gaining on him. Rather than tag him, though, she swerved ahead of him and around him, herding him back the other direction but making sure to give the clumsy colt enough room to stop without worrying about running into her.
"Oh really?" she called out as she halted in front of him, a grin on her face.

Madhu gave his mother a surprised shriek leaping in the air. Where had she come from! Madhu did his best to stop. Surprisingly stop he did and without crashing. Madhu began prancing around his mother. Before Stopping in front of her "Momma! That's cheating!" he said pretending to be stern. That's not how you play after all. Madhu broke into a laugh giving her a nuzzle.
"My turn momma! I'll catch you! I'm it!" He said trying to mimic what she'd done to him earlier trying to be mischievous. He failed miserably only looking happy instead. he fluttered his little arion wings. It was good there was no one around he would have worried if there was.
But for now he waited for her to run with a grin on his face. Why couldn't he play this way normally? Instead of always being so worried about what the others thought of him?

Braith couldn't help but laugh at her son as he skidded to a halt and was thankfully able to catch his feet beneath him. She was worried he would fall, of course, but she was going to treat him like she treated all of his children and his clumsy streak was going to get no special attention from her other than when he was injured. She just wanted him to feel like a normal foal and constantly reminding him of his awkwardness was not the way to achieve that.
"Oh, it's not? Why don't you show me how it's played then?" she called out, teasing him, dodging as he tried to corral her as she had him before taking off past him in a slow run. She wanted to make sure he could keep up.

"chase me! That's how you play." he laughed chasing after Braith. "Don't stop in front that's cheating!" he explained in his childlike manner.
He continued to try and corral her but she just kept leaping out of the way. His momma was very quick on her feet! Madhu chased after her as she trotted away trying to run. It felt awkward when he tried it was not something he normally did because he usually tripped but with his momma who never judged him and only encouraged him he tried. For he he tried his hardest. He loved his momma so much.
"i'm gonna get you momma!" he called after her as a promise.
