I've worked somewhat hard on my current avatar and I'd like some opinions. If they're good, I'll take a shot at the avatar arena so feel free to hurt my feelings.

Looks like a guy who should be a scientist, but isn't, and just happens to have a long schnoz and a random space plant, likely, literally a Venus fly trap.

Looks like a scientist nerd, with a comical/western flair to it. I don't think you'll get much anywhere with it since users here (the general populace at least) aren't into that sort of style. They usually prefer eastern anime thing. If you get an avatar art of your avatar (with the same style), you might be able to get somewhere in the arena if you advertise both of them.
Now, the hard part is to not use avatar art and avatar description box to speak for your avatar. Your avatar should speak for itself, while art and description helps enhance it. Never let art/description be the reason that helps you win the top circle, because that's kinda makes avatar arena pointless/moot. Let avatar arena be about the avatar, while art arena be about the art, etc.

I think he looks cool! Maybe not just a mad scientist but a Victorian era villain, transported to the future who can use plants as weapons! mrgreen

I'm a stickler with rating avatars so you may not like my review. In short an odd theme comes to mind that if is correct to assume doesn't really work well in terms of item coordination. Ultimately I see no sense of direction with this look in any aspect. Totes for effort, though. 2/10
