[First off, sorry I have been posting a lot latley. Also, if this shouldn't be here or something, then erase it or whatever, 'cause i'm not sure where to put this]

Ok, so, I just sort of wanted to know, Do dreams [and nightmares] have anything to do with your mind and what you think and sub-conciousness [sp?] and everything like that? Iv'e read a little about dreams, and how sometimes it says certain events or objects in dreams can mean certain things. I just wanted to know what they repersent [sp?], do they mean anything? Hope what I wrote isn't too confusing. Thanks.
[You could post your dreams here too, so maybe we could look up what they might mean, or say what we think they could mean, If you want]

Feel free to post away! I like to see new threads!

I think dreams can be symbolic of our subconsious. So like, if I have a dream of my teeth falling out, it doesn't mean that my teeth are going to fall out, but it might mean that I feel like I'm losing control of something in my life.

Yeah, I've always had lots of weird, far-out dreams, and I always wondered if they meant anything.

I had a dream two nights ago that the goverment was after me. They were gonna kill me. I was in this office building thing in a room with all these people in cubicles working. And there was this giant see-through hamster like tube. And this guy [not a goverment person] told me to kill everyone in the office, so I turned invisable and killed everyone. But I was still scared of the goverment people trying to kill me.
[In the dream, I killed them all with something I was golding, if not my bare hands. I think it was a machete or knife or something though. And there was a lot of blood.]

But I was still scared of the goverment people trying to kill me.

I found this on a dream website:

Invisible

To dream that you are invisible, signifies feelings of not being noticed or recognized for what is important to you. Alternatively, you may be trying to withdraw from the realities of life.

Government

To dream of the government, signifies power and the qualities/feelings that rule your life. For example, does greed, lust, or love guide you in how you live? This dream may also reflect your views about society at large.

Chase

To dream that you are being chased, signifies that you are avoiding a situation that you do not think is conquerable. It is often a metaphor for some form of insecurity. In particular, to dream that you are chased by an animal, represents your own unexpressed and unacknowledged anger which is being projected onto that animal. Alternatively, you may be running away from a primal urge or fear.

Killing

To dream that you kill someone, indicates that heavy stress may cause you to lose your temper and self-control. Consider the person you have killed and ask yourself if you feel any rage towards him or her in your waking life. You may very well be expressing some anger or hatred toward this person. Alternatively, you may be trying to kill or put an end to an aspect of yourself that is represented by the person killed. Identify the characteristics of this person and ask yourself how you do not want to be like him or her. This dream may also represent a part of you or your life that you wish would leave you alone and stop creating a nuisance. Killing may represent the killing off of old parts of yourself and old habits.

Knife

To dream that you are carrying a knife, signifies anger, aggression and/or separation. There may be something in your life that you need to cut out and get rid of.

I think dreams can interpret what you are feeling like inside. I see it as like your subconciousness or your mind having fun and doing what it wants while you aren't doing anything, kinda like a break for it. Dreams kind of say what you are feeling or thinking inside.

I believe that dreams are a way for the brain to process things that goes on in your life, or things you have forgotten about.

I dream alot, and many of my dreams are recurring dreams. And i believe it is all a process to heal and eventually understand things smile

I dreamed just last night that my sister was getting her boobs done. Not enlarged, but reduced- to an almost flat chest. Her hair was short, and I was trying to talk her out of going through with the operation, even as they were putting the mask over her face. I was pleading with her, trying to understand why she would change her body so dramatically, so suddenly.

I knew that my parents had been out of town while this was going on, but by the time my sister came to, my mom was sitting at her bed, angry with me for letting this happen. I basically got blamed for it. And of course I was angry and I punched things infrustration, as I always do.

That's all I remember.

My take on it:

I'm transgendered (FtM), and I may have been seeing what my sister's reaction and opnion (as well as my mother's) on me, through her eyes.

I saw a short haired, flat chested girl, which is what I want to be, only I was me, but not.

...Or something..

Did any of that make sense at all? sweatdrop

Yeah, it makes sense. That is a good example too by the way. And it makes sense that the dream could mean like, what your sister & mother is feling like. Pretty cool.

[Heh, I had a dream a couple nights ago that the nazis were all fish and I was laughing at them]

Yes. However, there's not a 1:1 correspondence with symbols. We said goodbye to Freud a long time ago.

Look at it this way. Last night I dreamed that I'd woken up and found myself lying between two beautiful women, one with a full coat of black fur, a shaggy tail and very doglike in facial structure, and the other with a full coat of white fur, a long sinuous tail and very catlike in facial structure. What does that mean? Or rather, what does it tell me that I didn't know already?

I have reacurring dreams about being alone in a toy store with a huge window that leys a lot of orange sunlight in (like there is a sunset or sunrise outside) and a reacurring dream about being on a cruise ship and sometimes I'm with friends and it's fun and full of people, other times I'm alone and it's dark and I'm scared, but the ship is always maze-like. And I also often have dreams about dark, concrete dungeons filled with toilets, and other times I dream about swimming pools. All of these have happened more than once, what do they mean?
