Welcome to our challenge of the month! This is where we host a challenge, and then the members of the guild get to vote on a winner. First, second, and third place winners will receive a prize. Challenges will always begin on the first of the month PRIOR to the month the challenge ends. (Ex: The challenge will begin March first, but the challenge will end April 31).

Quote:
Challenge for May - (begins April 1st!) - Paint up a model on a 30 mm base. Can be any type of model, as long as it is on a 30 mm base. (And no... you will not be allowed to put a larger, or smaller model on the base.)

- Can be any model from any game, as long as the official rules requirement for the model is a 30mm base.
- Scratch-built models are allowed, as long as the original model is required to be on a 30mm base.
- Models without bases are acceptable as well, if they are put on a 30mm base. This one is a bit trickier - but if the model doesn't fit on any other size base, I'll allow it.

First place - 50k
Second place -25k
Third place - 10k

When submitting your work, please post in this thread. Please post a few pictures of your entry - a picture of the model before painting, and a few pictures of the model after painting. (We all like seeing the full model!)

Also, make mention of what challenge you're entering in to - just so I know absolutely for sure it's for the competition, and not just a misplaced gallery picture.

I like the sound of this. I think I'll give this a shot.

My only question is, does it have to come from a particular game? Because there are a bunch of games that use the 30 mm base. Some miniatures you can buy don't even come with bases. I've been working on a model from one of the Pathfinder ranges that doesn't have a base at all. But because I had intended to use it in Iron Kingdoms I have it on a 30 mm. It is a human model (well a faerie, but that's beside the point) and it's not big enough to warrant any other sized bases. I'd like to enter it if it comes out well enough.

So I think we need to clarify this rule.

So like models that in game terms require a certain sized base must be on that base. And if a model is played in a game that is a scratch built model it has to be on a base size that it would be required to be on in the respective game it is meant for.

Like if you built a model you intend to use in Hordes out of green stuff and other bits from other games that will act as, say, a Trollblood then it has to be on the officially required base size, in this case a 40 mm.

Nope, no particular game, it just has to be a 30mm base model.

Hmm...

But yes - if the model comes with a 30 mm base (and by game rules, must be on the same size base to be legal for game play), then that is allowed for the challenge.

As for scratch built, yes, I agree. xD If the model that it's supposed to represent is on a 30 mm, then that is legal as well. As long as the original model is required to be on the proper size base, then it's fair.
