Hordes (Legion), Anima Tactics (Samael, Empire), and Hell Dorado (Demons).
I'm looking into possibly getting Infinity in the future, but right now I'm concentrating more on painting up my models that I've had forever. D;
Especially since in July I'm getting my Hell Dorado kickstarter package, and that's an entire starter box, in addition to an additional four models on top of that. So.. that's 9 new models I'll need to paint up, on top of like... thirty models that I already have laying around that are primed, unpainted. emotion_8c

I play Warmachine (Cryx and Cygnar) and several table top RPGs (Rogue Trader, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Iron Kingdoms). I'm looking to get into a few more RPGs. I'm also interested in Leviathan. Also, Super Dungeon Explorer.
I used to play Warhammer 40,000 but stopped after 6th edition came out. I'm really into the hobby of the table top war games. I really enjoy painting the models I buy.

You know, I actually didn't think about RPGs. xD
I kind of only had miniature games in mind...
but I suppose that's unfair of me, since some people do like to use minis in RPGs...
My good-looking Canadian friend plays D&D and he bought models for his campaigns when he was here, after all...
-rubs chin-
Suppose I should add that in as well?

We use miniatures in all of our RPGs.
I don't see why not. It's always fun to find a group that's willing to start an RPG over skype or something.

Huh... I never thought about that.
Alrighty, I'll squeeze RPGs into the mix too. :3
but before I do that, I'm going to post a thread for advertising the guild, if anyone is ever interested.

I play Warhammer 40K (Ultramarines 5th Company/Eldar Ulthwane/Grey Knights), I don't yet know how to play Warmachine (Protectorate of Menoth)/Hordes (Trollbloods) but I have painted some to take out to play. Iam planning on starting some Anima Tactics as some of the models look fantastic.
And WarmaHordes is easy to get into, IMO. It's like... a simplified Warhammer. xD
Really the best thing to do is get the rulebook first, and kind of 'map out' what models you like, and what models work well together. Like for me, with my whole Legion archery army - it started like this.
Lylyth, Shadow of Everblight, is a ranged-attack model. As such, her special abilities emphasize being ranged (such as Swift Hunter, which allows her to move two inches after destroying an enemy model, AND Snap Fire, which after she destroys an enemy model, she can take one more additional attack in addition to moving). Her feat also gives friendly models snipe abilities to their ranged attacks, which means they now have +4 to range. Also, all her spells help out models, such as stealth, pursuit, and pin cushion.
So, obviously she needs to be surrounded by similar models.
I picked the Striders, since for only one point extra, all of their stats are one point better than the archers, AND they also have several more abilities than the Archers, such as pathfinder, stealth, combined attack, and advanced deployment.
And then from there, who helps out the Striders? Strider Deathstalker, and the Strider Officer and Musician.
And that's only just a SMALL portion of my army decisions. xD I have several more models that all play off of each other, so just look into that when choosing a specific army.

Well for Anima Tactics I like the models of Eve, Reindhold and The Colonel in the Azur Alliance, I also quite like the model of Maria with what looks like death on the Church model and some of the Wanderers.smile I don't know much about Anima Tactics and my local store doesn't stock them. (It stocks pretty much everything else though) For Hordes and Warmachine I'm reading over the army books of Trollbloods and Protectorate but will try and get hold of the rulebook so I can understand what its talking about. I know with Warmachine its reliant on a Warcaster and if he/she goes I've pretty much lost.crying I've been looking at those games you lot seem to enjoy Hell Dorado, Infinity and Maulifax. I love some of those miniatures but will focus on the other ones first.biggrin
I wouldn't call Warmahoards a simplified 40K. I'm some aspects it's a little more simple and in others it is more complicated. It is also a lot more tactical.
I would start by picking a warcaster or warlock that fits your play style. For me it was Kara Sloan, Feora, and Mortenebra. I started with Kara because I really liked her as a caster. But then we started getting a lot more Cygnar players in our group and another friend picked her up as well so I decided, for the sake of diversity, to start a Cryx army under Mortenebra, a caster whose model was too awesome to pass up, and I'm getting close to completing her army. She's a heavy Warjack caster whose theme list focuses on solo's and Helljacks. Oh, and suicide bombers. One cannot forget the massive hoard of Scrap Thralls that has to be dealt with before any of her Jacks.
Whoever you choose make sure you like them as a caster or warlock. And make sure it's not the harbinger unless you plan on playing 40+ point games because she's insanely over powered in anything under that point value.

Well.. the most basic description of Anima is table-top Final Fantasy, really. I mean...if you've played FF, then you know of the statuses like haste, beserk, doom, etc. Those are all in the game, but now you just have dice rolls and action points to go with them. Such as Doom, which if you roll a 7 or higher on a D10 causes instant death, regardless of your health and any other special abilities.
And yeah, I know it's not a simplified 40k, but it was the most basic of basic descriptions I could think of at the time. >_<
Granted, GW games are more about throwing everything at your opponent and seeing what kills them first. xD ... Or you.

Yup! Here you go! The free PDF rulebooks are available on their website, and it's a rather quick read. Unfortunately, the PDF rulebook is a little off in a couple spots. If I recall, it says Doom is on an 8 or higher, but the official hardcover bumped it down to 7. In addition, a roll you're open to do to determine scenery amount is also misstyped as well, but that's not really a big issue since it's only if you're having trouble deciding the terrain. And also they don't go into a lot of detail about a lot of the rules, so it's always better to just buy the role book if you're really interested.
Man, I just love the artwork, though. xD

Sounds like I'd love Anima Tactics as I do love FF video games. I've ordered myself some miniatures but won't be starting on them till end of May as I'm finishing up for Uni at the moment. Thanks, I've had a brouse through those, does'nt seem too complicated. smile
And I've been reading the Hell Dorado rulebook, and that seems an also fairly easy game to get started in. It's a little confusing at first for reading (especially since I have none of their cards for reference, and it was also 2 AM), but it's definitely interesting that units engaged in combat will attack each other at the same time, rather than each unit individually attacking.
