Hi all,
Was wondering if any of you have watched Miniature Painting Secrets with Natalya by Noble Knight Games and if its any good. She has won a few Golden Demon awards and a Privateer Press award for painting so thought it might have a few tips that I don't use. Because I live in Britain I have to order it at an extra cost from the US so just wanted to know if its worth the money.

Haha......Yeah, I hadn't found out till I started youtubing to find out how people create certain effects and as a result that DVD was recommended. At the time I was trying to suss out how to create that glowing effect with plasma cannons on 40K models and ever since I have been checking out how others achieve desired effects on their miniatures. With so many paints on the market it's nice to see which would give your miniatures your desired effect. My latest is some Protectorate of Menoth Jacks and I wanted to know the layers others have used for the white. Turns out that using Thornwood green for the crevices, then menoth base followed by menoth highlight and this is now prefered way of doing it.

If you got the "codices" for the Warmahordes armies they have painting tips in the back with the paints and mixtures and all off that like they used to have in the Warhammer 40K Codices in 3rd and 3.5 edition.

As for lighting effect I think it would be best done with an air brush. Otherwise I just spend some time with successive highlights followed by a good dry brushing. I think I've only done one model where I didn't dry brush the lighting effects but used a blending technique. It came out well but I still prefer the dry brushing because it's faster.
