As you follow the directions from the scroll you are led far from any of the main routes that are taken throughout the country, far, far south; the further you head the more the plant life seems to decay. On one side of you there is a sheer cliff side; and on the other a dead forest as far as the eye could see.
According to the Scroll the Suspect was last seen in this area. (Sorry for the short post; packing for a weekend trip)

Sharingan, One Tomoe: Inactive Haruki had read the scroll several times to make sure he could get all of the knowledge possible and memorized. They had traveled south for quiet some time, the cold hadn't stopped but the moisture in the air was absent as it seemed to be from the roots of every source of vegetation as far as they could see.
Like broken bones, the dead forest clawed defiantly from the bonds of the earth, clutching as the heavens with gnarled appendages. Ikurah looked to these branches with a sense of longing and familiarity. He desperately wished to be out of this boy's body and like the plants, it was inescapable; only ... "Hebi....why have you forsaken me..."Haruki walked silently, eyes scanning in all directions. Looking more with his peripheral vision to detect movement than he was looking at any one particular thing. The cliff on the opposing side was quite a daunting fall, especially for a shinobi without any chakra available. With a heavy sigh he decided to be frank with his fellow shinobi."Umbra, Ijimeru, for the success of this mission I feel a certain amount of honesty is required. After the removal of my collar, there was a disruptive reaction with my chakra network. I have been unable to utilize in any form of manipulation or element creation."He didn't know why he was telling them much of anything, perhaps he was still in pain from his outburst and it was effecting his mind or maybe it was because they were women and he was more comfortable with them. Whatever the case, he had said it and there was no way to un-ring that bell."Our usefulness doesn't end there, Karasu just thought you should know!"The vessels face contorted in petulant look of a pouting child before his face dropped and he blinked it away as if he was suffering from something. He looked to Umbra and decided to speak up again, more specifically to her,"Umbra, I know of what transpired in the forest.. I was unable to contain him then. For that I am sorry, he is under better control now.."His face fell as he went back to that day. Ijimeru soaked to the bone, Senri covered in dirt and blood dying in his arms. He tried to blink the thought away as his head turned towards Ijimeru. A familiar psychotic gleam in his eye."Sssooo, Iji dear... sssomeone knows more than sssshe's telling about thisss Isanami, and her eyes."The real question had little to do with the woman and everything to do with both his and Haruki's obsession. There was a slight tone in his voice that implied he would not tolerate lies and he would know if she hid something from him.

The trip had been silent, her tiny fingers grasping onto branches and stumbling with her sense of balance still awry. The tiny body was taking a long time to get used to, and Ijimeru did not know if she could ever get used to it again. It had been hard enough as a child, but as a teenager, she felt worthless in this body. She could be doing so much more with it, but she was stuck in this form until she had run it out of the extra chakra it carried. And even then, it still reverted back to this state of childishness after a period of time.
As Haruki spoke, she flinched, as the removal of his collar was her doing. It was her fault, completely. She had done this to him. And Ijimeru felt the guilt weigh heavily on her heart, a stone to the feather of truth. It ached to see him like this, and she thought her chest might burst with the amount of severity she felt over the situation. Iji had simply been trying to help Haruki, not harm him. She loved him. Never would she intentionally harm him, not since THAT day.
And he spoke directly to her, the Stranger, not her Haruki. But still, it was him, just another part of him. With a sigh, she stopped, shoulders slumping, before they raised again, every inch as regal as she had once been. "Isanami was my father's bodyguard, and one of my teachers. Our new 'clan lord' happens to be a relation of my father's, though as to closeness I know not. When we were much younger, a coup d'etat was staged so that Lord Kuro would take the throne over my father, and Isanami was hired as the assassin. She failed, and so she and Lord Kuro were banished to the mountains. Anyone else who felt that Lord Kuro should rule left with him, forming the village you saw."
Her eyes narrowed, and Ijimeru felt the need to prickle her fur at the Stranger, so to speak. "Do not take the eyes she holds in doubt; she is as strong as Lord Kuro, if not stronger. I would much rather see you alive than in pieces, like everyone else Isanami has come into contact with."

"Let no good deed go unpunished,"Umbra Uchiha Gods of war, I call you. My sword is by my side, I see a life of glory, Free from all false pride. I shall crack the whip, With a bold and mighty ‘Hail’ Cover me with death If I should ever fail. Glory, Majesty, Unity. Hail. Hail. Hail!
Umbra ran through the battle prayer as she bounded along slightly behind the others, she had gathered restraints that she was now wearing to help her with her strength, endurance and speed while she trained or went on a mission. She forced herself to keep up, and with defiance of the sweat that was glistening off her brow she was able to keep up with the group. It felt oddly good to do this sort of basic training again. Umbra listened to the boy as he made his little confession and she almost tripped over her foot, she looked over at him with a blank expression on her face… why wouldn’t he tell them this before they went on this mission, was he of any use now that he wasn’t able to form chakra? Despite the assurance of this other persona of his she wasn’t convinced but they were only here to collect data and learn of their target, so hopefully this little handicap of the group wasn’t going to cost them. Umbra came as prepared as she could in case they did get caught, hopefully the flash bombs would buy enough time for them to haul a** and get the hell out of there.
Her attention was then drawn fully back to the more softer and rational persona of Haruki, when he finished explaining that he wasn’t in control at the time and he apologized for what he had said and done, she only stared at him for a few moments with those piercing eyes of hers, as if she was reading to see if he was telling the truth or not, after a few heartbeats in time she eventually gave him a slow, heavy nod in acknowledgment of his apology before turning her attention ahead of her again, listening to Iji go on about what she knew of their target.
Umbra gave a puzzled look over to Iji as she went on with her story, something didn’t add up to what she was saying, if Isanami was hired to kill the clan lord in the coup-d’état then why was he so pissed when she wanted to go after him again? It… didn’t make sense, either way he would have gotten his goal if he was to come in right afterward and prove his power and domination over the clan. What had changed from then till now? And if she was behind the attack on all of the villages with the chakra monsters like the rumours stated… then why was she still being ostracized from the clan? Was the Mongekuyo truly that powerful, and if so what was the cost? That aside, things just didn’t add up. Why attack the village, was she trying to unite the clan again, where was the crime in that? She shouldn’t need to be cast away for that and why would she? It would have allowed things to fall into the new clan lords hands… Was this all just a staged ruse? Was this a mission from the Clan lord himself but he needed it so secret that he had to cut ties with Isanami after the fact? That might make sense, though it seemed fairly elaborate for what it served. What was the point on making things so complicated, the Clan Lord could have proved a solid alibi for Isanami if this was his plan… Umbra was puzzled…
Though her face was stoic, her eyes narrowed in thought and slowly she fell slightly behind as she tried to piece this together and have it make sense, the closest thing that she could do to make sense of it all was that she was on a top secret mission and the current Clan Lord was just covering for her, maybe she wanted to retire after this and the lies just got out of hand or something. There seemed to be a large piece of the puzzle missing but she wasn’t sure what to do or make of the situation without it."Let no evil deed go unrewarded."

Sharingan, One Tomoe: Inactive Haruki took everything in stride, he could tell that he had surprised Umbra. Whether it was good or bad it was hard to say, and whether it was because he was even telling her or because she was now worried for the mission was again difficult to determine, still causing her to stumble was rather amusing. Her nod in response to his apology made it somehow worth it but there still felt like a certain amount of animosity.
He payed close attention to Ijimeru, and like Umbra he found issues in the stories told. He spared a glance at Umbra long enough to see her eyes narrowed, he doubted it was focus due to her physical training. The man with the panther and various scars told tale of a woman, a bodyguard and her attempted attack on the Clan Lord's life, Ijimeru's father. By his loves telling, she and Kuro of unknown relation had been blamed for and banished."Probably bothers with the way their testosterone was raging in a pissing match from earlier." Haruki listened to the Stranger rant in his mind silently, however, by their "employer's" telling, this alleged brother of the Clan Lord, Kuro was pissed off at the fact and tried to go after this woman Isanami. He absently reached up with his left hand and rubbed his neck where the collar used to be gingerly.
Ijimeru's warning echoed in their minds. If these eyes were really that powerful.. "Imagine what we could with them Karasu" A dark smile formed on Haruki's face for a moment, the power, the strength. If it was irrefutable as they made it seem, he would be a force to be reckoned with.
His eyes continued to peruse the sky, the earth, the cliff and the woods. Constantly looking for an opening where they may be ambushed from. "What did she teach you?"Haruki's question was abrupt but still soft and pondering, as if he was only half interested in the answer. But he was killing two birds with one stone, learning more about her past and learning more about the targets behavior. His gate started to edge towards the forest, despite it being decayed it offered far greater coverage than walking out in the open."Umbra, is it wise for us to be out in the open like this? Should we not progress forwards through the forest?"Haruki was trying to get information out of her, he wanted to know how his new teammate functioned and worked in the field. What she thought, what she would advise and how much of a fighter she was gauged off of her answer. Ikurah knew the swords where exactly for show and were anything but flashy.

Nearly scoffing at his question, something so personal from his past, Ijimeru did not miss the glances between Umbra and Haruki, figuring that something wasn't quite right with the stories. Well, that was what you got when you dealt in politics. Everyone had their own version of the story and none of them were quite false or true enough to properly concrete the evidence.
But the memories were fond, and Ijimeru let her guard down, just for a moment, just because Haruki had asked. "She was my...well, mine and Senri's, really...she was our survivalist instructor. My strength, and Senri's cunning...she enhanced them both through her training." Her face fell, and Ijimeru felt stunned. The memories of Isanami stung her deeply, and the taste was bitter in her mouth. The last person she had ever thought would try to hurt her...
"Isanami also taught me never to trust anyone, after what transpired with my father. Not my teachers, not my clanmates, not even myself." Ijimeru's childlike face turned into a smile, and she felt her heart sink. There were always methods to her madness, and they usually had their roots in some past event. "Only Senri has ever stayed close enough to not betray me."

"Let no good deed go unpunished,"Umbra Uchiha Umbra, more or less, ignored Ijimeru as she went on about her past, this was hardly the time or the place to be going into such details or letting one’s mind run away from the present. She supposed that it was something the former Princess wanted to get off of her chest while there was still arguably some time before things got serious here. Umbra’s eyes turned over to the forest that they were about to enter and pondered over how they were going to get information on someone who may just happen to be a recluse. It wasn’t like information was going to just be dropped on their heads from the sky or something. This was going to be bothersome, now she understood what Senri meant when she introduced the group as ‘the emotional baggage group’ it was a far from comforting notion to be stuck with these people. Still, she had to obey rank and give this deceptively young looking girl her loyalty and obedience for this mission. Umbra was become fairly visibly impatient as she kept giving clues to Ijimeru by looking over her shoulder before shifting weigh on her leg. When Haruki asked her thoughts on whether they should be in the middle of the field she turned her head ever so slightly towards him, an ever so slightly tilt of the head followed. For a few minutes Umbra said nothing before she raised her hand and pointed a finger to the vertically challenged leader of the group. ”She’s in charge, not me, remember?” It was hard to tell if this was a taunt of what he had said earlier when he mentioned that Ijimeru was undeniably their leader or if she was just poking fun at him and his obvious question. He face remained stoic as she once more straightened her head and looked forwards after casting a look over her shoulder at the woods again.
Umbra gave Ijimeru little pity when she was talking about how Senri and herself would be schooled by this woman then the betrayal that she felt afterwards. Umbra couldn’t relate at all, she had no friends, nobody to betray her, she was always a closed book –so her mother said- and it seemed because of this she never got close enough to people in order to be betrayed. It seemed like instinct to her to keep others at arm’s length and never let them close. Maybe in a past life she had been betrayed by someone so bad that the scar reached her soul and never left. Then again everyone around her was a total idiot so that may have played a part too. As for the feelings themselves… Umbra didn’t seem to have any of those either. She always felt dead inside, always empty and void. Like she was a robot or walked through her life in some sort of weird out of body experience. She remembered her mother reading poems to her and her sisters when she was small and her sister swooning… but Umbra couldn’t understand why. Where was the appeal that made her sister swoon so? She couldn’t say she felt envious of other people who were living lives fully and with all those emotions that she lacked, it was hard to feel anything at all. She wondered why her soul was so locked away… or did she even have one at all? "Let no evil deed go unrewarded."

Sharingan, One Tomoe: InactiveAs Ijimeru finished speaking, the last thing she said stung Haruki; hell it lanced through his core. "Only Senri has ever stayed close enough to not betray me..." These haunting words echoed throughout his mind, had he betrayed her? He tried to push this nagging feeling gnawing at his integrity, filling his mind with self doubt; and he when Umbra spoke it gave him enough strength to pull his mind away from it for the moment."Hmm, the soldier type; that or her humor is dryer than a desert." Haruki mused to himself silently as if trying to find the right words to say, she was sort of like a Fabergé egg. Untouchable and unapproachable, no detectable chinks or cracks on her surface; however, he was afraid to press too hard that it might break and all that made it once so intriguing would be lost."Yes, this is true. What I meant was-- Hey! Tall, dark and brooding! What he was doing was asking your opinion to see if you were intelligent!!!"The boy's hand flew up to his face, clutching at his eyes for second screaming at Ikurah mentally, "SHUT UP!!!" With a heavy sigh, his hand was removed from his face and returned to his side."Well he is right, perhaps I should have rephrased my question, what is your take on this mission. Is there anything different you feel we should do?"While he was curious about Umbra, he also was interested in seeing Ijimeru's reaction to Umbra. As far as he knew, their first introduction was in Kuro's hall. An interesting match up, the undying soldier as she seemed, the tattered princess, and Haruki and Ikurah. The wild card, a ******** catastrophe waiting to happen, the trapped sociopath locked within an inescapable prison. Senri was his warden, she had the key..

A pin could drop between Ijimeru and Umbra, and it would cause a fire to spark. The other girl seemed dead, motionless to anything other than her mission. Good. Too much blood had been spilt over passion-ridden Uchiha and their hot blood. Of course, a good deal of items came from these moments of bloodshed, and as so Ijimeru could not complain too much.
But that look that Haruki gave her was almost more than she could bear, and she moved her locks back, revealing the ebony feather still twisted in her hair, the mate to his own. A soft, revealing signal to Haruki to not take offense; she was still his wholly. His and Senri's. And of course the Stranger had to perk up at mention of Umbra's voice, staring into the girl's soul.
"Perhaps we should make more movement to the trees. Out in the open is never a good place to be; it lets too many enemies spot you and leaves little room to prepare for an attack." Her black eyes scanned the horizon, as if she was already looking for her former instructor to apparate from out of the blue and cold.
Certainly now would be a good time to set up camp and keep warm, before making a plan of action as to following Isanami and keeping records on her. "We should also set up camp soon. It is nearly dark and the terrain here is not as forgiving or as comforting as home was."

"Let no good deed go unpunished,"Umbra Uchiha ’Charming.’ Umbra thought as Ikurah had his little outburst, Umbra’s eyes had fallen to the Haruki and his split personality as he outright asked her about how smart that she thought that she was. She kept a tight lip, not saying a word to the boy who had all but lost his mind, Ijimeru seemed to want to keep things thankfully going in the direction of the mission. After a few moments she took her eyes away from the multiple personality syndrome of Haruki and rolled them somewhat lazily over to the former princess of the clan noting that she had a feather in her hair just like what the Mad one possessed in his. ’Fantastic… love birds...’ Umbra noted dully to herself, as if the madness of Haruki and the fact that he didn’t seem to be able to mould chakra wasn’t bad enough, to top things off they seemed to be in some sort of flirtations with each other. Granted, the pair could have been just good friends or made some sort of oath to each other on those feathers and Umbra did mentally scold herself for jumping so quickly to conclusions over it, such a thing was beneath her as a warrior, and she hoped that these two held the same sort of professionalism with the mission that she did, though their earlier cues of holding hands seemed only to point closer into the direction of the former assumption. Though what was lost on Umbra was the animosity that former Princess seemed to hold for her. If Umbra took note of the tension then she didn’t show it. Her mind was on other, more important things at the moment.
Speaking of which, it finally looked like their leader was ready to being their mission… right after they found a place to make a camp apparently. Well, she supposed this place was as good as any. Umbra looked around and made note of the cliff and theorized that perhaps setting up a camp either in an available cave or at least setting it up so that their backs were against it would be the best solution. Instead of voicing these thoughts though, she wanted to see if Ijimeru would suggest the same thing, tactically it would be better than having an open spot where they could be surrounded by shadow clones or the ilk, instead, they would have the advantage of using the rocks to their backs to force the enemy to come at them all from either on direction, or from only 180 degrees surrounding them which would be easier to defend if push came to shove. In all reality, she wanted to see how good of a leader this Ijimeru person was, it was all too common for the elite to get ranks and not know how to lead, she hoped that it wasn’t the case here, but she did have some suspicions on the matter, and as for the strategy itself… Umbra had a few ideas, though she wouldn’t offer them up quiet yet, she wanted to see how the other two would suggest going about this, if she needed to add anything she would. For right now, it would be to her benefit and to the benefit of the group, that she keep as much about herself and to herself as possible."Let no evil deed go unrewarded."

Sharingan, One Tomoe: InactiveHaruki watched Umbra closely. To the point where it may have seemed rude, but his stare was calculating and observant, mirroring her very own. He noticed the subtle glances to Ijimeru, and just off of her face, then to his own and just beyond his shoulder. He paused for a moment to consider what is was she was staring at."Birds of a feather flock together and all that.." Haruki's eyes widened minutely in recognition to the truth of the Stranger's statement. No doubt Umbra had seen the feather Ijimeru was flaunting to desperately remind him that he was still important and needed foolishly, and was already making assumptions. If this girl was chosen by Hebi to assist her in the exams, then she probably disapproved of the union.
Whether she did or did not was not his concern, if she attempted to make something of it, it would be dealt with accordingly at the time and concern of the matter. He did not lie that the feather he had given her still in her hair brought a small sense of warmth to his nearly lifeless chest of late.
As Ijimeru mentioned to head into the trees, Haruki listened acutely to the behavior the birds and their chatter in the forest. Waiting for any sign of it to cease at a moment's notice before the tell tale sign of an ambush. He never ceased his endless scanning for anything, even animal life for food and possibly new clothes as he was still more or less the lashed together bindings of his brother's old shirt and some spare fabric.
His bow was hidden, but he knew not why, everyone present knew he had it one or was quickly becoming a long ranged specialist. He once again tried to activate his Sharingan, forcing the chakra from his entire body into his eyes. For a moment he quivered, unsteady on his step before releasing his tightly bound focus with a deep exhale of disappointment."We have a couple of options, but more importantly, we have our strengths and weaknesses to consider. The best course of action is to draw ourselves into the vertices of an angle, funneling any possible avenue of ambush or direct assault by normal means. Some preparations would be wise to consider for users of the earth element should we begin this approach.
Umbra, as you are familiar with, my current strengths or in accuracy and long range, a choke point, or even a vantage point would be my best positions. You are a front line soldier correct? It would be best suitable for you to be the main point offensively at the choke to meet the targets head on, though with your foreshadowed skills, I imagine you are quite versatile.
Ijimeru, you possess both raw power, combined with brutal ninjutsu as well as your bloodline beyond current present members. You should be near Umbra but far enough away to allow her room to maneuver. Regardless of station, title or predicament, you are my princess that I pledged fealty too, and our superior officer, it is our job to protect you should the concern arise.
Now about that cave or cliff face..unless there is another suggestion?""He glanced between the two of them waiting for a response before resuming his search, of the area surrounding them. He began scanning trees for a suitable perch, and began thinking of ways to mask himself to appear as foliage. If either of the kunoichi beside him made indication, mention or otherwise told him that they were doing something different he would follow.
He was currently stretching out his leadership skills, testing the waters to see who would and would not listen as it were to him, or if the even thought of his ideas as analytically intelligent, or trumped up bullshit. Ijimeru was the superior officer, and Umbra seemed to be of a different caliber of shinobi entirely from him; he didn't let this deter his actions, instead he appreciated the challenge more so.
He repeated the process of trying to activate his Sharingan, desperately wishing to get a better read than the blank mask that Umbra was rather fond of giving. It was exhausting, painful even, and his eyes burned and felt sore from the strain. After a couple minutes of wandering and searching, the found a small gathering of boulders that could be amounted to a small hill or even in their standards a cliff face. This wall could potentially be used to provide them support from at least one side."We could utilize some of the trees to create a better defense, or continue to search for something more established. What do you wish?"The question was poised to the two of them, again waiting on their responses to see where they stood on the matter. It almost seemed as if Umbra was silent testing the em the way he was poising the questions aloud, however, this was merely conjecture on his part.

As the three continued on the mission things continued to see, rather uneventful. No sign of there target, or an other living creature short of a few small seed eating birds or rodent here and there. It seemed like both the forest and mountain line had been emptied out at one point or another.
Things continued like that until darkness started to fall; the sun had partially retreated behind the cliff face. Leaving the valley of the Forrest shrouded in darkness and the cliff itself pitch black to anyone who looked at it.
To the three Uchiha on the mission things would remain this way for quite some time; that was until the darkness and silence was shattered; to the ear it would sound as though there a campfire was off in the distance, the sound of roaring flames. However there was no light to be seen to pair with the sound, that was until a massive blue ball of fire Roared over the group bathing them in an eerie blue glow.
Just as suddenly as the light had appeared it vanished as it continued into the distance, landing possibly a mile further into the forest then there currently location, the group shaking as the ghastly fireball landed, what appeared to be a blue sunset poking out from the tree's in the direction the attack had landed.

"Let no good deed go unpunished,"Umbra Uchiha Well it looked like the rumours of this woman being able to control the chakra monsters was true, at least it appeared that way to her as Umbra grabbed her stuff and moved to follow after the monstrosity as quickly as possible, she wasn’t sure if the others were following her or not but she figured that if the rumours were true then the giant blue fire cat would bring her right to the target. By the descriptions from the villagers and even from Senri’s father, this was the beast that attacked the main village and caused its destruction. There was a possibility though, that this creature was acting on its own accord, and that the attacks on the other villages were just a huge one in a million coincidence. The forest could also just be where the creature made its roost when it wasn’t smashing the s**t out of the villages. Umbra trailed along the best she could, following the burning eerie blue torch that was guiding her way while at the same time been as mindful of her surroundings as she possibly could, as well as being as stealthy as she could considering the circumstances."Let no evil deed go unrewarded."
