He is a member of the Gadwa Leila, or Thieves guild. He is a fence and a merchant of the black market. He specialized in selling delicate merchandise to the right person at the right price. He wasn't always the master tradesmen, he had to work his way up in rank like the others in the guild.
In his younger years Coppertak was tracking down a unique item. One of his officers was looking for an enchanted camel skull. He followed up on all the leads and came up with nothing. But there was one tip that he had tried to avoid looking into. Rumor had it that the Old Hag had it in her possession.
The skull was said to have magical properties and could even grant wishes. He had a wish in mind, and figured the client wouldn't mind if it was just missing one. He was determined to locate this old hag and relive her of the precious skull. Finding her proved to be the hardest part. Coppertak had to travel far from the desert and into thick forest to find her. Once he had the old hag's hut in his sights it was only a matter of slipping in undetected and carefully lifting the item from its home. Inside the hut was confining and messy and dusty, timber and debris was everywhere and he had to carefully tip-toe around it all. The most startling and disturbing part was that the hag was awake; or she appeared to be. The old mare remained standing in the middle of the hut, her milky eyes half open, standing still as stone. Remarkably she didn't appear to see him, he was able to creep around her and take the skull without hesitation or alarm.

He left the Hag's hut with the enchanted camel skull and was homeward bound to the badlands. On his long trip back he started to feel funny, he could feel the skulls magical presence. The skull wanted him, needed him, he could feel this. He made a stop at an oasis for rest and water. He spent the night at the oasis and placed the skull in front of him to contemplate as he settled into rest. He lay down and rested his head on his feet. Coppertak never took his eyes off the skull. It was facing him and he could almost see it had eyes. He stared into those empty pits for hours, and began to feel a soothing hum. A warm sensation washed over him as he stared into the empty eye-sockets of the camel skull. He realized the skull was waiting for him! It wanted him to find it, it wanted Coppertak. He realized he didn't want to part from it. It made him so happy to have it in his possession. He believed it loved him.
Unfortunately for Coppertak, the skull was not enchanted, it was cursed. Baba was in her hut laughing at the poor fool who dared to take the wretched thing. For his trespass, Baba cursed Coppertak to the skull. She made sure he would fall in love with it and never want to part from it, he was curse bound to the skull.

With Coppertak's newly discovered love, he couldn't possibly return it to the guild. He would have to convince the guild that the skull was of no value to them. His officer was Nazara, she was also his lover. They had managed to keep their relationship under the table, It was scandalous to have relationships with higher ranking members because of favoritism. It started as harmless flirting, Copper is suave and frequently woes the ladies. The flirting got more serious as the two had more missions together. They had to travel long distances with each other and work together with precise teamwork. He didn't know what he was doing; he cared for Nazara beyond friendship but he knew nothing could ever blossom from it. His stature was the first obvious obstacle, and he had never been one to settle down, or commit to relationships. He was worried because she seemed to be further investing, and he wasn't sure where she thought it was going.
Copper was used to running from his feelings, he was a nomad at heart and often felt confined in relationships. He hated having to hide his affection for her, Nazara was the closest he had come to loving someone. She was, now the skull; that he named Johara, was the only love in his life.
