Is anyone out there participating in the Camp NaNoWriMo for July 2013? I just signed up for it today, haven't done anything other than the normal NaNoWriMos in November so I figured it might be an interesting experience.

Has anyone participated in this previously? Is it any different than the event in November? Looking for some information and feedback on it so I appreciate any response.

I may try to do it, but honestly my ability to do any writing, let alone actually complete a camp nanowrimo is pretty much nonexistent. I do far better during the regular November session, but perhaps this year I will try and complete it. Need to see what else is going on that month before signing up.

As afar as the difference between the events, with Camp NaNoWriMo you can set a different word count goal, where as the November one is set at 50k. So if you want to do 75k for Camp then you set your goal for that, though I do believe the default word count goal for the counter is set to 50k. Other than that there is no difference, except maybe the fact that beautiful summer weather may pull you away from your writing more than you want it to.

I just signed up for it too (I'm having some trouble focusing lately, so I'm hoping that helps). Never did it before, but it seems to just be a more relaxed format where you can set your own goals. They also set you up with a small 'cabin' group to be your buddies.

I'm strongly considering it. November was a bust (I got a monstrous flu when I was halfway finished) and I really need to write. I can't do 50k twice in a year though, it's absolute torture. I have immense trouble with that last 10k. Perhaps I'll set the goal at 40k.

Well, I've made the official decision and I am indeed going to be attempting Camp NaNoWriMo this July. Since I know there will be a million and one distractions during the month (reading and reviewing books for my blog, my son being home since school is out, keeping up with housework, getting some work done on the house, etc) I have decided to go with a goal of 25k words as I feel 50k might be a bit too much this time around. Mostly I just want to get back into writing, I haven't done any since last years NaNo in November and my husband keeps bugging me to write that book I keep talking about, so best get too it.

I'm amazing far behind on my word count but Camp NaNo has never been my friend, too much stuff to do around the house during the summer for me to really do much reading.

Omg I got a TERRIBLE flu last year right at thr start of Nanowrimo. I was out for like a week and then I had to make up soooo many words later. gonk /torture

Yeah I can't imagine doing 50k twice in a year even if I've done 100k before. It's better to do it all at once than having to start it, then stop, then start it again. Or idk. Maybe it's better, depending.

I was editing in July and did about half of my second book. Kinda stopped from there, though, hehe. It's always hard to get past the halfway point.
