...snakes, spiders, bats, black cats and some other animals associated with the supernatural, bad luck, or evil? Can't they just be?
I guess ppl were uber superstitious before and decided these things were horrible. The snake I can understand, but what's with the rest of them?

I don't know,but that's a good question. I used to have a black cat and he crossed my path all the time,but nothing happened.

Bats are so cute whee ! I guess the person or people probably had really bad experiences with those animals, well, I'm not sure if a spider is an animal but yeah cool .........

i own a black cat, nothing wrong with them at all, but you must remember it's mind over matter, if you think something bad is going to happen, it usually does.

Well yeah I'd say the snake cause it's associated with Satan. Bat's and wolves were supposed to be forms that vampires could take. And then there's werewolve stories. But I don't really know why cats......maybe it has something to do with the Egyptians? I read that black cats were particularly sacred to the goddess Bast. Who knows?

people didnt like cats because they were the supposed framilar of a witch. In fact this was so strongely belived in Scottland that people used to refuse to speak about family bussiness in a room with a cat in it because they believed that what they revealed would be used against them by a witch.
Ancient Egyptains were the first people to keep cats as pets. They loved them. The goddess Bastet was usually portrayed with the body of a woman with the head of a cat and she represented fertility and healing. Egyptains aslo loved cuts because they believed cats to be the natural enemy of the snake, which was a traditional symbol of evil.
I think people coose animals because many of them people fear or find mysterious.
i am not sure but some of the animals may have gotten bad rep from things in literature. for example, animals being used in spells and potions

for me, cats (even though im alleric) are lucky
i like bats
i only hate spiders because a piosonous one bit me

maybe cause most of them are black. black cats, black spiders, black snakes, black bats, etc. i think its a bunch of bull. i like the color black.

I think I read that somewhere, black cats are supposedly good luck instead of bad. I read this in middle school, if I find it, I'll post. I think it was in England? Sorry if I'm wrong.

it is because of fear back in the old days. at first people thought the cat was a demon when its eyes glowed from low light. spides I don't really know. bats because of their sleeping habits.

I know many people find spiders creepy, so that's probably the reason for the supernatural asscioation.

Well, one reason for snakes is their sheding of their skin. This made them associeted with renewal and enternal life.
