I've got a non-lds user who's presented a concern about our doctrine concerning families being forever. I get why he's confused, but wondered if anybody could give me some different ideas on how to respond.
He feels like families cant be forever because of that scripture in Mathew where it says that Christ came to break apart the families. I've thought about referencing scriptures we have to support our doctrines, but feel like that would get us into a debate (which I'd like to avoid).
If anybody has any ideas on less confrontational ways to explain the matter, it'd be great
smile I've been able to explain most things to him without bible bashing and hope to keep it this way.
Thanks for your help guild!
smile Matthew 16:19
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Matthew 18:18
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Explain the priesthoods, I guess. There is scriptural basis, even in the Book of Matthew. Bayve have them read chapter 16 and 18 and tell you what they think those verses might mean if not eternal marriage and families.
