I heard that some planetary objects were found orbiting our sun a while ago but weren't quite classified as planets. I also heard that some people didn't consider Pluto to be a planet due to it's diminuitive size. If anyone has more info please post!

Most scientists now classify Pluto and the other recently discovered planetoids as Kuiper Belt Objects, or KBOs. The most recently discovered KBOs include "Xena" (2005 UB313), Sedna (2003 VB12), "Santa" (2003 EL61), and "Easter Bunny" (2005 FY9). "Xena" is bigger than Pluto, and the rest are slightly smaller.

well from what ive heard... some scientist made a suggestion that pluto is like the planet minimum... meaning that anything smaller than pluto would be a kbo and anything bigger would be considered a planet... i think that would accually work because alot of people have been learning all the nine planets and that crap since like kindergarden. so i think that they shouldnt change it but instead use it. ive also heard that pluto has 3 moons... two of them were supposedly discovered recently, can anyone clarify this? i really dont trust my friend (he doesnt know to much)

Part of the issue with Pluto is that it's also in the Kuiper belt, and looks to be part of that population, so it should be considered a KBO, so that's also why they are thinging of demoting Pluto from a planet. As for objects orbiting our sun that arent' planets... there's MILLIONS of them! Comets, asteriods, kuiper belt objects, oort cloud objects, moons, dust, debris. THere's more other stuff then there are planets.

They discovered two new moons for it a while ago, but just recently named them about... two months ago, I think. Nix and Hydra.
