The Hakurei Shrine. A place so sacred and protected that not many, but some, Youkai visit it daily or seasonal. The Priestess is the one who solves the incidents that befallen the land and on a day like this, her weirdest and yet hardest Incident to solve has come at last.

"Reimu, be a dear and look after this for a bit?" Yukari kindly asked, holding out what seems like a black ball, as black as the night. It was odd to ask of something and no doubt Yukari would leave in a heart beat once Reimu has set her eyes on the orb itself.
What is it exactly has yet to be known.
So once she left the orb in Reimu's hand, the gap Youkai vanished in an instant.
This ball however...after taking a second look, it seems like it's a living thing. But what could it be? An Egg?

"Eh?"

Reimu mumbled, looking somewhat annoyed, and peering over the edge of her teacup.

Yukari. Again. Honestly, must this woman be a daily nuisance? One would think a Youkai of her power would have better things to do than bother Reimu.

The shrine maiden reached out to pluck the strange, black-as-night orb from the woman's hand, holding it to eye level to inspect it.

"What's this?" Reimu asked, turning the object around in her fingertips. "Some kind of--" she looked up, only to find empty air with the sky and trees as a backdrop.

Yukari had fled. Again.

Sighing, Reimu returned to the strange little orb held between her thumb and index finger. Was it food? She held it to her mouth, nibbled, gnawing on it for a moment. Yuck.

With the item back in her hand, Reimu turned the ball over, the only difference it now held was the small bit of saliva to one side.

Unimpressed, and honestly uninterested, Reimu shrugged and chucked the ball over her shoulder. It would land somewhere in the shrine, no doubt, while Reimu returned to sipping her tea.

Just like that, the orb rolled over once as an eye slowly opened. When it's vision came to be, it started to hop.
"Gawdamnit Yukari! Where did you go?!" the orb talked in a child like voice and manner as it floated above the ground by an inch and took in the sight around it.
"This is the wast time I ask for her help. Now then." it floated around the shrine ground as it got a good view of where he was.
"This is the Hawkurei Swhine...then maybe she is there!" it said as it scuttled along to meet Reimu. As of now, it was unable to ever get up the step as it started to tear up in it's one eye.
"No fair...stewpid Stairs." it stated, now straining to try and do something.
"I can't even spawn my Tendons. This sucks..."

A small voice broke the otherwise peaceful silence. Reimu turned her head from side to side, trying to locate the source of the noise.

"Hello? Yukari?"

Reimu set her cup down on the steps leading to the shrine proper. With light footfalls, she descended the stairs and onto the shrine's grounds, nearly stepping on the black orb she had already forgotten about as she passed it.

"If you're trying to fool with me again, you have another thing coming!" Reimu shook her fist at the air, though seeing nothing and no one, held a look of slight apprehension. She probably already looked damn foolish talking to herself as she did now. With a small huff, Reimu folded her arms into her sleeves and turned around, preparing to march back up the shrine's steps...

Upon nearly getting crushed, it looked up to see Reimu passing by and cursing someone in the air.
"No! Down here you Stewpid Pweistess!" it said once again but as Reimu walked up the steps, her foot squished it flat...then reformed shortly after.
"I will give Yukari a thousand nightmares!" it screamed again before noticing a raven flying down and examining it.
"Back off! Do you have any Idea who I am?!" it stated. The crow cawed and began giving chase to the small orb as it hovered along the ground quickly and as fast as it could go.
"This is humilwiating!"

"Hey Reimu. I couldn't find Nahumar at his shrine so I decided to come and bother you today!" the happy Hanalli stated as she descended from the sky and ignored the raven chasing whatever it was around.

One day.

That's all Reimu wanted; one day without a visitor. Hell, one day with only one visitor would be nice.

"Right, you... the too-happy girl. What was your name? Ah nevermind, I don't want to know--" Reimu sighed, putting a hand on one hip. "If you can't find your brother, why come bother me? I'm certainly not his keeper, you know."

She moved to fold her arms, and casted a sideways glance as a raven began to chase something across the shrine grounds. "Hm...?" Reimu turned her head, giving the ensuing chase a little more attention. "Has it spotted a mouse..? ... (That better not be you, Aya...)"

"Hm?" Hanalli tilted her head to the side and looked over to what Reimu was looking at. The black orb floating caught her eyes.
"There you are!" She happily trotted over to scare the crow and pick the orb up. She then showed Reimu the orb with it's single eye looking at her.
"Huh? Did I grow- Oh wait...I'm still Smawll." It said now that was at eye level and can be seen.
"Nahumar, why are you here at the shrine?" she asked him. The now named orb called Nahumar hopped from Hanalli's hands and right next to Reimu where he did his best to explain.
"Well, one moment I was just welaxing at the shwine and then I suddenly felt odd. I twied contacting Yukari to help me with the situation but she only said 'leave it to me'...then I black out and woke up on the gwass with some kind of animal salwiva on my head. Apparwently her idea of hwelp is dumping me here." Hanalli looked pretty puzzled by all this as well.
"Odd...but seeing as you have a problem I should get going then. No doubt the priestess has you under her wing now. SEE YA!" and she bolted off to leave the struggling little orb bouncing.
"HEY! Oh gweat...On top of my Terrwible speaking and size...I have to be babysat by you of all-" then it hit him. Without his regular power, Reimu could see his true image! She could see that all this time...Nahumar was just a floating black ball with an eye.
"Oh Cwap...she knows!"
PostPosted: Wed Jul 03, 2013 5:28 pm

"H... HEY! Don't leave your toys behind!" Reimu yelled after Hanalli, shaking her fist at the youkai.

Well... that was one less annoyance, at any rate, but now Reimu had a small...ball...thing... to take care of. Great.

Reimu sighed, folding her arms again, and turned to look down, down, down at the small black orb that was apparently Nahumar all this time. At least he wasn't such a large annoyance for once.

The priestess knelt down, patting her skirt flat and to her legs as she did (no upskirts for the demi-god!). "So, what am I gonna do with you, huh? I hope Yukari comes back soon to retrieve you. Otherwise... I suppose... make yourself at home?"

Nahumar looked at Reimu with a bit of anger yet he had no reason to. In this situation he was mostly defenseless. But he was not going to let Reimu walk away yet.
"I will not take up much space, Pweistess. It will be like I was never here. Thowgh I have to say, I wouldn't mind tawlking." Nahumar floated over and managed to hop on her lap, though still hovering over it.
"While I am here, I could hewlp with some tasks...though maybe not today. I am still so Smawll." With this emotion being so small in power, he was more or less quiet at times and never bothered Reimu due to how he not only revered her but knew only if it was important was it wise to even consult with her...and now his current incident has been left in the hands of Reimu. Was it for a reason or was it Yukari just being bored and not wanting to deal with it?
"I do have to say...your Shwine is beawtiful at times when it's empty. A reflection on yourself perhawps? Maybe you are like me and enjoy peace." Nahumar said, looking around the front area and the gate of the shrine. The stone path that has been there for god knows how long. The red gate that stands before the long steps. The surrounding trees and plant life. It made him seem safe. Once he had enough of her talk, Nahumar would hop off her lap area and float inside her home to look at it as well. The table laying out caught his eye as he managed to hop up on top and sort of claim it as his temporary home.
"If you do not mind, Pweistess, I would wove to stay on this. No doubt, I would need to figure out why I shrank." Nahumar called out. Though in truth, it not only helped his vision but could be his place to think about how to regain his size. Though the answer might not be exact yet.
As he hovered around the table like some kind of toy, his own stomach started to growl.
"Not good...I can't let her know I am hungwy." Nahumar tried to keep to himself, looking for something to eat- There was a mandarin orange in the bowl! So he swiftly and quietly took the orange and attempted to peel it with the small teeth on the bottom of his body. After much struggling, he opened one side and took out one slice of the Mandarin in his mouth. He began consuming it with no mess until the slice was no more. Seed and all.
"That should be fine for now..."

Reimu was somewhat taken aback by Nahumar's proposition. Was he trying to extend an olive branch of some kind? Reimu never really cared to have guests at her shrine, but this one genuinely didn't seem like he would cause too much trouble. Yet.

She stared at the confusing little ball, puzzled, as it hopped into her lap, and listened to what it had to say. "Thank you, but the shrine doesn't require much maintenance... or rather, nothing I can't take care of myself." He then went on the compliment the shrine, another aspect Reimu wasn't expecting. Certainly, he must be trying to sweet talk her, or something.

"...A reflection?" Reimu paused to look around at the shrine. That particular thought had never crossed her mind. "It's true, that I do enjoy peace... Hey, don't go making weird assumptions." After Nahumar hopped off her lap, Reimu stood, patting her dress and watched as the small sphere climbed up and into her shrine. She followed him, and reached the top just as he had apparently commandeered the kotatsu, and was apparently now violating an orange.

"Yeah, sure, that's fine... as long as you don't cause me any trouble, then I suppose you staying here is fine. At least, until you figure out whatever it is you need to get big again." She went to collect her teacup, and moved inside the shrine to sit by the kotatsu instead. "So... do you have any ideas?"

Nahumar blinked then closed his eye as he thought hard about it.
"I doubt it's like Hanalli in which she shuts down once every ten years...And I do not normally have to wecharge my power through rest." He floated back and forth on the table, slightly confused by this as well.
"I know I was not damaged at all...so honestwy I have no idea." Nahumar looked pretty down about not knowing much. Nahumar plopped his body down near the bowl and tried his best to think again.
"Maybe Yukari put me here because you can help. Although as strong as you are, I doubt the problem can not be fixed so easily...Maybe I have to just leech emotions like in the old days?" His eye went to Reimu. Of course she had none in her, who knows what Reimu could feel as far as emotions? But he had to try!
Nahumar latched himself onto the back of one of Reimu's hands without warning, almost acting like a leech as he was trying to siphon out any fear from her. It didn't take even a few seconds for him to remove himself.
"Nothing..." He stated as he floated back to the bowl area and started to sulk a bit.

So helpless and yet so pathetic as well. Was everyone afraid of...this?

"--!!"

Reimu was about to swat the pesky ball of ink away when Nahumar detached himself on his own accord. She rubbed the back of her hand, giving a slightly annoyed glare. "What are you saying, that I can't feel emotions?! Like hell I can't!" She folded her arms, turning her head away in protest.

She let a moment pass, and her annoyance dwindled, before returning to the topic at hand. "...Say, if all you need is emotions, why not just attach to one of your brethren? That girl, the overly-cheery one, seems to be bursting at the seams with emotion. I bet she'd fill you up quite adequately. If it's raw fear that you need, perhaps tag along with one of the local youkai? Some of them feed off the stuff - literally." Reimu paused, sipping her tea thoughtfully. "...Not that I condone such behavior, of course."

Nahumar rolled around on the table, very stressed by all this.
"I can't risk my life by tagging along with others. You possibly saw me getting chased by a crow. I have no way of defending myself for the moment. Oh hey! I can speak clearly again!" Though still sounding like a child, he no longer mispronounced words.
"Anyways, it's easier for me to latch onto a human than it is to travel with a Youkai..." and then an idea hit him. He should of though of this before as he started to hop up and down.
"Priestess! Let me latch onto your head! If you can scare some animals then maybe my theory will work. I am able to manage and consume fear from Humans as well as siphon any fear I may cause to others when I scare them. So if I am on your head, I could siphon any fear you can cause as if I did it!" On paper, since he was sort of a parasite, he can latch onto humans without much issue and siphon any fear in the area they might cause as well to others. It would be as if he scared them, converting it into his energy. The downside of this is Reimu might have to wear some kind of "Blob" on her head while looking like a fool to scare some creatures herself. Her reputation could dwindle even farther than before if the right people noticed her. He seemed pretty okay with asking this human as weak as he was. Even a simple flick of her finger could toss him across the room.

Thankfully as he offered the idea, a handful of birds started to hop and mingle around the yard. Minding their own business.

...

He was joking, right?

"You're joking, right?"

He didn't look like he was joking. ... Assuming one can discern expression from a mono-eyed orb of dark matter.

Reimu sighed, visibly face palming as she leaned on the kotatsu. Does this little blob of goo really think she'd let him tag around latched onto her head, or anywhere else for that matter? That's simply out of the question!

"... There must be another way, isn't there? Preferably a way that doesn't involve you latching onto my body in some manner that I don't want to think about? (Do you realize how slimy you feel?)" A small chill ran through Reimu's body. Seriously, ew.

A small idea formed, and with a wave of her finger, a Yin Yang orb floated into the room from another part of the shrine. "Here, latch onto this. You said you can siphon fear, right?" Reimu smirked. "I have an idea."

"Sadly I do not Jest." he replied, knowing that as goofy as she would look with him on her head that it was the only part of the body he could interact with a human that was closest to the brain. So he continued to watch Reimu until she brought another idea. The orb.
"Really?!" he felt slightly happy. The only time he really saw Reimu was back when he caused a ruckus in the forest. Only then is when he briefly saw her attitude as serious to keep order in Gensokyo and of course her own wishes to have peace for five minutes. So as the orb appeared, he gladly latched onto it as his eye closed as if he was smiling wide.
"Okay, now what?" he looked back up to Reimu like some kind of animal.

Okay, the Narrator has to really point something out...
WHY IS NAHUMAR SO PATHETIC?! I mean, he is a collection of Fear and yet here he is looking like some kind of helpless animal!
sorry...Just it seems weird that someone so scary could turn out to be completely opposite. Moving on-

Nahumar almost wanted to rock back and forth on the orb in amusement.
