I don't know...I've been reading a lot of speculation about that, but I honestly don't have a clue. I haven't read anything yet that really sounds totally believable. And I haven't thought of anything either. Because I'm slow.
But Hawkeye better not be evil. I'll cry if she is.

She's not a homunculus. The ouroburous (I know I murdered that word x_x) is not on there.
Also, if she were a homunuclus, she wouldn't have seemed so scared when Gluttony was about to eat her. If she's a homunculus, she would have survived it, right?
My first thought was that she may have been burned (by Roy, maybe?) to break the tattoo, so it wouldn't be useful?
I sure hope Arakawa reveals it soon. But then, she rose the mystery of what the "Father" meant by, "It's still around" when referring to Hohenheim, and she still hasn't answered it.

This theory is really far-fetched and I don't think it happened but it is rather interesting. I read it on some fan thing.
Here it is:
Riza died in Ishval and Roy was the first person to ever succeed in Human transmutation. He brought her back.
Told you it was far-fetched.
My friend Raven_of_Sarrow and I discussed it and we came to the same conclusion as Pharae. We agree that it most likely has to do with Ishval. We think since it obviously has Roy's array on it, that it may be a pact she had with Roy.
IF RIZA IS EVIL I AM GOING TO BE PISSED!!! (Sorry over-obsessive fan ranting)

XD Don't think so. He thought he was a hideous person for even thinking about bringing Hughes back.

I don't think that Arakawa will make her evil when I think more about it. This is going to spur many fanfictions though. lol wink

Call me crazy, cause I am!
I think that the Fuhrer put that tatoo on Riza while she wasn't looking... somehow, and it either: A. Is a ticking clock to her death sad B. Is a way so Roy can't get near her C. Is something so Roy will have to somehow sacrifice his alchemy to save her, making him weak and vunerable D. She is a punk-a** dedicated person who got a tatoo of her lovers gloves. xD
I think it's either a, b, or mayve c, yet I think its most likely a, sadly. Crazy, neh?

She won't die yet =/ She's too important. And Bradley knows she's only useful to him alive.

Pharae She won't die yet =/ She's too important. And Bradley knows she's only useful to him alive. I agree that most likely Riza wont die. I read somewhere that she is one of Arakawa's fave characters. That doesn't mean much really to do with that topic but oh well. Hey Pharae I don't read yaio and yuri( in fact I despise it but only when FMA is involved) but I must admit that your sig is sexy!!

It's currently at 57 chapters out of approximately 100, and comes out monthly in Shounen GanGan. And here's the tattoo:

I personally don't care what happens as long as it doesn't mess up Royai. I don't care if she's evil. In a way, it would rock, but that's coming from someone dubbed evil herself.... ^.^'. Anywho, I happen to think that she is Isbalin(and is there any reason for the v and the ite that I don't know about, as far as I'm concerned, that's confusing!)And that she was sent to kill the alchemists, so she joined the military, and tried to kill them! Then she fell in love with Roy and we are where we are today! <3. What I don't like is that people think her and Roy are siblings! I'd die!!! Oh and about her dying thing.... Hughes was a favorite too.... T.T Arikawa-San likes to make bad things happen to the comic relief! Lets see... There was Hughes, Havoc, who's next??? Roy maybe, and that would suck. Either that, or they'll all blow up happily together <3 Lol. Like I said, we should only worry about if it ruins Royai, because if it kills of Riza, then that would mean it would ruin Royai, and I'd cry. Lol...

take a good look at the upper lefthand corner of her tattoo and you'll notice some bad-a** scars (looks more like burn marks to me).
anyway, i don't think she's evil. and i don't think she's ishbarian either (note: that old general in east city is her maternal grandfather) -- half maybe? nah...
i read a post in fm-a.com forums that said the twin snakes were symbols of perfection, if that's true, then that tattoo maybe the perfect fire array which should be more powerful than roy's.
going back to the scars... because of the scars, it is now incomplete and unusable and it also means it was something from her past. notice the title of chapter 57: Scars of Ishbal. Chapter 57 has been gearing up for the retelling of the Ishbal war and this tattoo may even be the proof of Riza's loyalty to Roy, or on why she is so loyal to him in the first place.
