general guild rules

rules for anything are subject to change whenever.
I may increase or decrease prices, RP requirements, whatever. There will be a notification (it won't just sneak up on y'all outta nowhere), and there will be a reason (like, if way to many people are getting roleplay rank changes out the wazoo and I get crazy-bogged down by it).

obey each thread's and subforum's rules.

do NOT post in any threads by the mule, aniu amarok, unless the title says that it is open.
Some threads will say [closed], some will say [open], and some - like this one - won't say anything at all. If they don't say anything, it means they're never open for posting (except for perhaps occasional updates by staff). If you're confused about something, ask in the Q&A thread, or the regular shop thread. I don't bite. :3 Much.

roleplay rules

rp is encouraged and totally awesome, but not required by any means.
There are definitely perks for roleplayers, such as cheaper breedings, free rank upgrades, etc. However, nothing bad will happen even if you buy a wolf and never return. He will probably get lonely, and then whine and scratch on my sliding glass door and get it all dirty and covered in mud…which is just annoying, but fiiiiine.

for shop-related roleplays (rank upgrade, breeding, etc.), each rp should be at least mildly related to whatever it is that your wolf is trying to achieve, and at least 15 posts by you of about 50ish words each.
So if it's several people going back and forth, it should be a couple of pages of posts. If it's just you, and you wanna have one big story-post, it should be about 500 words. But, honestly, quality over quantity. A complete storyline is worth more than useless padding.

keep things mildly realistic; no magic.
No need to stick to barks and growls, but these wolves aren't psychic, can't fly, and don't know how to summon fireballs (not that they could even if they wanted to).

related to the previous rule, the wolves can talk to each other just fine, but are not able to communicate as efficiently with other animals.
Think of it like trying to talk to someone who speaks a different language.

no god-moding.

at least attempt literacy; no chatspeak in srs roleplays plz lol.

while the wolves have heard of humans, they rarely make contact with them, so they are not currently in the metastory.

it is fine to rp your growing wolf as younger than it is.
It is also fine to RP a wolf at two different ages, if it grows before you finish a previous RP.
you are welcome to include out-of-character chatter in brackets, [[like so]] or ((like this)) but do keep it to a minimum.
Along that line, remember that in-character drama or banter does not necessarily mean that someone has a problem with you out-of-character.

if you have more than three wolves in a roleplay, you don't have to list out all of them.
A tag of (Wolf 1 et.al.) or (Wolf 1 x more) or whatever would be fine.

shop slang

ic :: in-character - threads or subforums that are written strictly from the perspective of the wolves.

ooc :: out-of-character - threads or subforums that are for us, the human owners, and are not for roleplaying or writing in-character.

aniu :: Inuit for "Snow." The plain username "Amarok" was taken, and (like a derp) I didn't even consider just "Amarok mule." So uh…yeah. Doesn't really have anything to do with anything at this point.

amarok :: Inuit for "wolf," and also the name of an Inuit wolf god that the wolves of this shop regard as their creator.

nuna :: Inuit for "land," which is what the wolves call the valley that they live in.

rank :: a position that a wolf holds (within a pack, or on its own) that is denoted by line art. Examples: Alpha, Gamma, Lone.

role :: a position that a wolf holds that is not denoted by line art, but is there purely for roleplay purposes. Example: Storyteller, Warrior, Seer.

code of conduct

The whole gist of this thing is as follows: sometimes life isn't fair; get over it. While some brief exclamations of regret are allowed in the event of not winning, guilt-tripping or passive-aggression is not.

Saying something along the lines of, "Oh man, I missed the Speed Sale! I totally forgot! D:" is okay. Saying, "Oh man, I missed the Speed Sale! I never win at anything! >_<" is not.

Saying something along the lines of, "Congrats to the Auction winners! One day I'll snag a fancy pet too! C:" is okay. Saying, "Must be nice having all that gold so you can buy whatever you want. :/" is totally not.

Saying something along the lines of, "I really hope my couple gets picked for this round of breedings! They'd have some really cute pups together! ;D" is okay. Saying, "Oh look, I got skipped again. This is getting really old." is obviously not.

We can all understand the differences, right? The first sets of examples are all, at the worst, tinged with regret. But the last sets are all whiny or passive-aggressive or guilt-trippy. The reason why that's bad is because it makes the winners feel bad, or it makes me feel bad (and making me feel bad is totally gonna motivate me to pick you next time around. Totally.). It creates a negative environment and that's not cool. I'm not gonna blacklist anyone for their first offense, but if it becomes a "thing" with anyone, I'll PM them and tell them to knock that s**t off.

Sometimes life sucks. If you really want to whine about it, do it somewhere that's not in the thread or in the guild (such as in PMs with friends). We can't always get what we want, but I will try to have plenty of opportunities not only to get pets, but customs and breedings as well.

Two other real quick things: don't ever bother anyone for a pet they own, even if they never do anything with it. Would you go up to someone and be all, "I can take better care of your cat than you. You don't even play with him!" Gosh, I hope not. I had someone do that to me about my dog as a kid, because they were moving to Montana and then my dog would have acres and acres to run around on. I was ten. And this was MY DOG. That I raised from a puppy. Are you kidding? That is such a horrible thing to say to a ten year old (I took my dog for walks all the time and played with her every single day, it's not like she was neglected and had an embedded collar). And also do not bother owners of parents about custom pups; if they want to give away their slot, they will. Anyone caught doing either of those things will be immediately greylisted and not allowed to participate in any events for a month.

The only sticky area is customs. They're CC, which means I do the ones I want to do. When I choose customs, it'll be for the following reasons: 1. it looks easy XD, 2. I think I can do a good job on it, 3. I think it'll look totally awesome. When I don't choose a custom, it'll be for the following reasons: 1. it looks incredibly difficult and I just don't really have the time, 2. I don't think I can do a good job on it, 3. I don't think it will fit into the theme of the shop (I might PM you some tweaks), 4. I don't think your color/design choices are good (I might PM you some tweaks).

I know that fourth option might seem horribly unfair but...it's my shop? If it becomes a problem, I'll hold Low Luck Rounds (of Customs and Breedings) to give a second shot to anyone who has been overlooked frequently.
