Personality/Mannerism Rodrigo is incredibly boisterous, cocky, and egocentric. He loves going on and on about himself and always blows his stories way out of proportion to make himself look more heroic and awesome. He likes when students stroke his ego and is almost always fishing for compliments, even when he really shouldn't. As a teacher he's been described as intense, he believes in throwing the book at students in the most literal way and has some of the most unique ways to discipline his pupils. He's very jovial and doesn't take many things too seriously, though he does know when to quit joking around and get real.
Bela acts almost completely opposite to her meister. In her younger days she was wild and insecure and he was quiet and shy, yet confident, but now she's the straight and serious one. She's very relaxed and calm and takes things more seriously than her husband, often getting annoyed when he won't stop making light of a heavy situation. She can be more personal and mothering to her students. She gets kind of embarrassed when people make comments about her body, and this drives Rodrigo mad with jealousy.

He can taste the difference between a corrupted and pure soul. Also, even though she is a weapon, Bela can smell souls and track down a person whose soul scent she's locked onto. Bela also has her own chop, using her sheathed wakizashi, which she uses on Rodrigo when he annoys her.

Background Rodrigo and Bela met at Shibusen when they were both students. He was nerdy, shy, and introverted and she was brash, foolish, and kind of a slut. During an exercise they were paired together and neither were too enthused about the pairing, although they worked together flawlessly and were the first pair to finish the exercise in its entirety and received the best grade in the class for it. They were officially paired thereafter and began to develop a working bond.
However, during their third year, Bela grew restless. She was not much closer to becoming a Death Scythe and felt that her partner was holding her back so she left the DWMA and Rodrigo to pursue greater power. She began to follow the path of the kishin and realized she could have more power by consuming pure human souls. She became wild with power and knew she was missing only one thing to become more powerful, a witch's soul. She relentlessly tracked down a lightning lizard witch and cornered her. The witch pleaded for her life and told her of a way to make herself stronger without consuming a witch's soul and pointed her in the direction of Medusa who was performing experiments with black blood. She made a deal with the snake witch to act as a guinea pig and receive transfusions in return for unrivaled power.
Rodrigo, saddened by his partner's betrayal resolved to change for her and become stronger. He trained in his own special style of combat for better use with her weapon type, then chakrams. When he had bolstered his confidence he followed leads to Bela's whereabouts and eventually found her with Medusa where he boldly challenged the witch for his partner's return. Outmatched in every way, he was pummeled quickly and repeatedly, though each time he got back up to keep fighting he would call to Bela for strength. Eventually she gave in to her feelings for her former partner and together they performed their first soul resonance and managed to escape from the witch. Two things happened then that changed both of them. The shock of her madness addled black blood fusing with his pure soul wavelength caused him to become a permanent shade of pale white as well as remove the pigment form his hair and eyes. It is said that he wears bandages habitually because an initial resistance to the blood caused massive damage to his skin tissue. For Bela, her soul was purified of corruption and the rate of madness fusion of the black blood was halted.
Their personalities changed as well, Rodrigo was empowered by his own ego and felt the need to chase away his original experience with madness by laughing. Bela wised up to the world and put her wild days behind her. Their fourth year at Shibusen, Rodrigo made Bela into a death scythe and they graduated at the top of their class. During graduation he proposed and they were married a year later. They settled down, per Death's request, in Spain and raised their child in the estate that Death had granted them. When the boy, Sevens, came of age to attend Shibusen Rodrigo decided to move back to Death City with Bela and become teachers there to watch over their son while he attended school. They were frequently called upon for missions and taught gym or substituted in classrooms when they were available.
Weapon Form Every blade on Rodrigo's portrait. She turns into blades only which can be thrown like knives. She can also position herself inside other weapons such as Rodrigo's chakrams which makes them bladed.
Soul Resonance Form Razor knives which can move freely of their owner and transforming soul wavelengths into electricity. By using the harmony of their combined souls, Bela can copy her weapon form far beyond its normal limit and even assimilate them all into a single massive entity comprised entirely of blades.

Fighting Style Rodrigo - Rodrigo uses his incredible speed and flexibility to run circles around his opponents with fancy maneuvers. He excels at hit-and-run tactics and dodging. While his upper body close range attacks are not all that powerful, they're nothing to be taken lightly as he can throw a barrage of punches with great rapidity. He specializes in the use full-body kicking technique that require great acrobatic skill.
Belalupina - Bela uses her standard steel wakizashi in single combat. She's an expert at disarming her opponents as well as utilizing momentum. She's not as lithe as her meister and fights in the upright position with little aerial or ground techniques. She uses defense and counter-attacks at close range rather than long range dodging with drop-in drop-out hits.
As a Pair - Rodrigo employs Bela's blades heavily, augmenting his spins, twists, and acrobatic feats with pointed lethality. He also uses her for mid to long range throwing techniques and will use her soul ability to blind the opponent for surprise attacks.

Form Manipulation - Can add or subtract blades from a minimum of one to a maximum of 100 (1,000 in resonance form).
Obscure Wavelength - Bela's shadowy black wavelength can be trailed from her weapon form to create a smokescreen around the opponent, making stealth strikes easier. When Rodrigo projects his soul through hers he can use her wavelength to manipulate the smoke. The smoke induces madness when used with the Black Blood.
Meister Abilities Black Blood
Flicker Wavelength - Rodrigo's pure white wavelength flickers with incredible frequency, giving him unnatural speed and dexterity in combat. It's rumored that he can project his own wavelength through his feet and kick off of it in midair. Speed is increased greatly when used with the Black Blood, though it sacrifices clarity of sight and thus becomes far more unpredictable.
Hobbies
Flaws They tend to bicker over silly trivial things on a regular basis, but always make up eventually. Bela dresses scantily for combat reasons, but the attention she receives often makes Rodrigo jealous.
Weaknesses Because they focus on speed they suffer from a marked lack of offensive or defensive capability. Their madness makes them wildly unpredictable which allies should beware of when they activate the black blood. They cannot perform a soul resonance when they arguing about anything at all. Bela's obscure wavelength blinds them as well, though she can smell souls and guide Rodrigo that way. Using Flicker Wavelength at extreme speeds reduces Rodrigo's visibility, making him far less accurate. Rodrigo is moderately easily distracted by flattery.
