On the surface: Takusu is seen as stubborn, short-tempered, strong-willed, and impulsive. Despite claiming not to care about what other people think about him, he attempts to maintain a detached and "cool" image. His outspoken, hot-headed demeanor is a trait Takusu himself has acknowledged, and if somebody picks a fight with him, he cannot help fighting back. He is genuinely compassionate and empathetic towards others.
But deep down: As a young child, Takusu Nandaba had always been afraid of Pokemon ever since a traumatizing event had happened. He was young, when he had went into the tall grass when he was forbidden to. A swarm of Beedrill had attacked him, as he ran away from the stings and attacks they had used. He was injured badly, as he wandered trying to get away from the swarm. Tasuku did, but at the cost of getting lost. As he wandered the night time, he had began to get ambushed by an Ekans, as it bit him. He feared he was going to die at some point. As he kept on walking, he heard his mothers voice as he followed.
Days since, Tasuku had never wanted anything to do with Pokemon. He thought of them all as rodents, as he had began to keep in the town. It was rough, since whatever Tasuku wanted to do, he was cautious if there was any Pokemon that could harm him. He developed a phobia ever sine. The years went by, as Tasuku had now been given a little brother. One who looked more like his father than his mother. Since that day, changes were made. The house he lived in, was protected by a small Pichu that was friendly to them. Everyone, even Naota and Mamimi enjoyed having the Pichu with them, as he hated everything about him.
That year, a terrible thing happened to New Bark Town. Team Rocket had been spotted coming in large groups as they invaded the area, looking for any Pokemon that could aid them against other teams. They had even began harming people too. As the chaos had unfolded, Tasuku rushed out for the people's help, as his mother was getting attacked to. With every force he had, he tried to get them away but was unable to. The whole thing went from bad to worse, as Tasuku had witnessed his mothers death from a fire type Pokemon. Fueled with rage, Tasuku had began to use the Pichu for battle. he won one of the fights, as he even considered to kill the grunts with electric moves. He didn't kill anyone, but had crippled some of them badly. They left, as the town was saved. A group of people died from the raid, including his mother.
After the funeral, Tasuku couldn't handle life this way, as he didn't want to be in his phobia of Pokemon anymore. He registered as a trainer, hoping this would help him feel at peace. Years had passed, since he left and conquered his fear of Pokemon. News was then spreading of Tasuku being in a major league in Baseball in the Unova region. He even had won several Pokemon Leagues, as there was also news of Tasuku coming back to Johto every once in a while. With the Pichu evolved to a Pikachu, he hoped that what happened to Tasuku, wouldn't happen to Naota at all. He left his Pikachu in a Pokeball so that some day, Naota can be a trainer, and it can be his starter Pokemon.
