The Noble Houses of Soul Society have an unclear role in the culture, social and governmental aspects of that dimensions existence. The Four Noble Families carry the most weight and appear to have some influence over the governmental institutions (i.e. Central 46 Chambers) and even institutions outside of the government (i.e. Shin'ō Academy). The military (i.e. Gotei 13, Kidō Corps & Onmitsukidō) have no authority to act against a noble family without evidence that their actions are treasonous to Soul Society.

Duties: Sealing, Assassinating, and Executing dangerous criminals of the Soul Society.
Overview: The Hattori Clan is one of the Four Great Noble Families of the Soul Society. By tradition, the head of the Hattori family leads the Onmitsukido. Also known as the House of Godly Judgment, they are the assassins said to have been bestowed the killing powers of the gods. Every generation the head of the Hattori is tasked to protect one of the Elemental Shrines found within the World of the Living, a shrine of stored power that is said to be one of five keys to opening the Gates of Hell. If they attain a captain seat in the Gotei 13, the Onmitsukido are lead under that captaincy as well. Any member who doesn’t pass the test to get into the Onmitsukido is immediately exiled from the family.

The R’lyeh Text: Text of the Sunk Spiraled City, is a demonic guidebook and summoning grimoire with a cover made of glistening and wet human skin. The R’lyeh Text is one of two demonic guidebooks to the world of Hell; it’s the brother book of The Goetia. It allows the summoning of an army of Horrors, water demons from the depth of the seas of Hell and the summoning of Devils, those whom have been sent to Hell for their evil deeds and have obtained supernatural powers forbidden to Souls of the Soul Society. Rather than simply functioning as tome of spells and curses, the book itself is a “monster” that functions as a reishi core possessing its own enormous reishi furnaces completely independent of its wielder’s reishi. It can be read from as a regular tome for minor spells, such as summoning a single demonic being from the depths of Hell, or it can be completely commanded by the user, causing the pages to rapidly flip by themselves, as the tome provides the necessary incantations and its own independent power to conduct the summoning spells.
Depending on the verses used, this allows for the usage of a class of ritual demonic magecraft that tens of magi couldn’t accomplish together. The Spellbook itself is constantly giving off reishi, and if it is cut, rather than showing pages, it shows a glowing unearthy substance. It is capable of regenerating damage caused to it under its own power, and the “wound” closes much like it would on a living creature. The R’lyeh Text was said to have been written by one of the four high ranking Devils of Hell at one point and that his will transfers through the text giving it this unnatural power. The book is said to be unreadable to those of the dead and only those of the Living have the ability to read the text even if they can’t read the ancient writing within it the book grants the skills necessary to read the book. Although if a human was to touch this book it is said the book will possess them in order to find the Goetia and then the Keys to Hell in order to set its true master free. Once a Human is possessed by the book if the book is destroyed the human linked to it will die as well, along with any other humans that have come in contact with any part of the book.

Caliburn: Golden Sword of the Victorious is the holy sword that is the symbol of the king pulled from the stone of appointment by King Arthur under the guidance of Merlin. With the words "Whosoe'er pulleth out this sword of this stone is rightwise king born of England" engraved in a golden inscription on its hilt, it became the symbol of England's king of knights once it was pulled from the stone. The truth is, the sword was placed in the World of the Living by a God to ensure that the battle between Gods and Devils would rise in favor for the Devils of Hell. Caliburn possess the nine flames of Heaven, Earth, and Hell. Its the only weapon known to a God that can only Kill a God. A single cut is like poison as it set their blood on fire. If a Shinigami was to be cut with this blade they would suffer the same effects, as they are technically demigods in the eyes of this sword. Caliburn also effects Devils the same way, and by placing it on Earth within a stone it sealed away its powers. The blade is completely useless on Humans as it will refuse the will of its wielder to harm Human life.

Overview: The Takayanagi Clan is one of the Four Great Noble families of the Soul Society. They are a very old and high ranking noble family well known throughout the Soul Society for producing capable Shinigami who excel at Hakuda. They are a clan of aristocracy, diplomacy, and kindness; the Takayanagi are famed for not only their wealth but their personalities and general additions they have made to the society. The clan itself bears an immense amount of wealth; coming from their skills in political tenures and teaching Hakuda to the Onmitsukido and the students at the Soul Reaper Academy. They also have several members with unorthodox links with the Central 46 through varying means. The Takayanagi are kind yet very refined and somewhat arrogant clan who bear no qualms in bending the rules using their wealth, power, and influence to achieve their goals; and when that doesn’t work they tend to solve their problems with their fist. This clan attempts to solve as many as their matters peacefully because they can’t control their inner urge to kill once they start fighting. The Takayanagi family was at one point very close with the Natsume family who was stripped of their title as a Noble family during the last war due to the Head of the Family betraying the Soul Society; because the two families where close the Takayanagi was placed in charge of protecting and guarding the Natsume treasured artifact the Reiki.

Chokutou Reiki is the sister sword of Caliburn. The sword has a special property in that it cannot harm any living being, which is ironic for a sword that was created out of the same material as Caliburn. However its power lies in the fact that it can bring the dead back to life as well as healing the wounded. Even more so, the Chokutou Reiki grants its wielder the ability to see the true forms of beings from Hell. Those whom possess Humans and wear their skin like a coat the Reiki will “cry” which will creating a slight ringing sound through the air shattering the illusion of the Devil for the wielder only. Lastly the Chokuto Reiki has an ability that has been said to be forbidden and lost and that’s opening a doorway to Hell. The user can cut a door in the middle of the air creating a void that leads to a random location within Hell. Because the location is completely random there is no safe way opening a gateway to Hell without being killed by a Devil or monster within that location.

Overview: One of the four noble houses of the Soul Society, the Hiwatori clan is renowned for their pride and honor above all other virtues. Without a doubt, the Hiwatori clan is the singularly most wealthy and influential family within all of Soul Society. On the surface, the Hiwatori family’s long line of powerful shinigami might indicate this because of superior swordsmanship or spiritual power – but to assume so is grave fallacy. In truth the Hiwatori clan has gained a central authority within the Court of Pure Souls. Thanks to that, which it holds most high; pride and honor have shaped the destiny of the family since their earliest beginnings, and still defines the role of the clan to this day.

Angra Mainyu often translated as All the World’s Evil, is most commonly known as Pandora or Pandora’s box. In classical mythology it was a jar which held all the evil in the world which if opened it would release all the evil into the world and destroy it. Mythology was correct, that the relic houses all the evil in the world but the fact is the evil of the world isn’t a spiritual being but a living one that couldn’t be destroyed during ancient times. The creature housed inside who was once the only occupant of Hell was trapped inside of Angra Mainyu after being released by the Demon King himself to destroy the Soul Society and all of the Living World. The creature was called many things back then. Its true name is Nrvnqsr Chaos but it has been known in Soul Society legend as Sword Dancer, as it’s the true barer of the Zanpakuto. It says that the founding swords of Heaven and Earth belonged to this creature, and should those swords no long possess a master they shall return to the beast and will never be see in time again until the day it is released from its prison. Angra Mainyu takes on the appearance of a demonic suitcase of sorts, and even though it only houses a single demonic being, its capacity to hold anything else is nearly full. The seal around Angra Mainyu has been in place for millions of years and even today the seal is weakening to the point it takes over a thousand souls keep its power in check.

Duties: Emergency medical squad for the residents of the Soul Society; Protecting the Elemental Shrine of Earth
Overview: The Mushitori clan is a relatively new clan that has recently begun to take prominence in the Soul Society for their obscurity and medical treatment style. They bear no connections to the Noble Families of old, but instead hold much ill will towards them for keeping the wealth of Nobility for themselves. Those of the Mushitori do not actively participate in the political deals of the Gotei 13 or Central 46, but will often assist them in tasks if it coincides with the clan desires as well. The Mushitori Clan are famed for their medical knowledge and skills. The family specializes in poisons. They tend to have a hyperactive attention span when they find new poison or come in contact with injuries they have not dealt with first hand.

The Goetia also known as The Lesser Key of Solomon (Clavicula Salomonis Regis) is a demonic guidebook and grimoire with a cover made of glistening and wet human skin. The Goetia is one of two demonic guidebooks to the world of Hell; it’s the brother book of The R’lyeh Text. The Goetia was written by the Spirit King himself, even though it’s a demonic book, its one that was crafted in Heaven. Being a relic crafted within the Heavens it is protected by powerful magic that protects it from being opened by those whom are not of the living. Souls and Hollows can’t even touch it without being rejected by a powerful barrier. The text within the Goetia can only been seen and read by a human with Great spiritual power, too much power and the text will not appear to the human, not enough power and the magic will be useless. For those who know the ancient history or have studied the Demon Arts know of the Beasts of Hell, but those whom have ever seen one has never lived to tell the tale. The Goetia is a roster of all those Beast and Souls ever sent to Hell. It updates itself ever time the Gates of Hell appears causing it to emit a powerful blinding light which is why it tends to be covered and hidden away. The Goetia is the Map not only through Hell but to the Gate of Heaven where the Spirit King resides, without the Goetia the Gates of Heaven will not appear nor will they open. The Goetia has the ability to suppress The R’lyeh Text in terms of saving the victim whom have been intoxicated with its power. It has been said the Goetia can call upon the powers of the Spirit King and call forth an army of Angels to fight against the Devils within Hell. Although that may be true, the appearance of Angels might be referring to Shinigami or something else.

Duties: Weapon Forging for the Royal Family and repairing broken Zanpakuto; Protecting the Elemental Shrine of Water
Overview: The Natsume Clan was once seen as one of the Soul Society’s high ranking and noble families, but they were over thrown from power due to the previous head of the family’s rebellion against the Royal Family. While they were high ranking nobles they didn’t present themselves in public and their clan didn’t associate themselves with Central 46 that much. They were extremely close with the Takayanagi clan at one point in time. Even in their excel, from their title as a noble family they rank rather high among the lesser families within the Soul Society. The Natsume clan has always had a female sovereign, it is an iron clad law that has been passed down for generations for centuries, thus males cannot lead the clan. They are known for their great craftsmanship in weapons and use to create weapons for the royal family, but that ended once they were removed from power. Their family sacred weapon the Reiki is being held by the Takayanagi clan as the power of that single weapon is enough to bring down the Soul Society and half of the Royal Guard in the hands of a skilled swordsman.
SPECIAL TECHNIQUE GAINED
Tsuru Tamagushi (To be hanged by the branch of a sacred tree) is a spell in which the user causes the spiritual particles in the surrounding area to be in a temporary stasis. As his enemy attempts to move in to attack, the user causes the energy to form into invisible tendrils that wrap around the victim's neck, arms and legs, leaving them restrained entirely, unless a large surge of spiritual energy allows them to escape. Additionally, using this technique, the user can suffocate his opponents and kill them outright. This is seen as an illusion based kido spell, although it has no number or incantation. It does require the user to hold an open palm and focus towards the target to be used.

Enkidu: Chains of Heaven is the final weapon created by the Natsume family after their banishment from the Soul Society. Enkidu was made to bind the gods and weapons of gods so they cannot escape, making it one of the few anti-divine weapons that holds the concept of "reigning over the gods." The strength and durability of the chain grows stronger with the target having higher divinity, but is no more than a tough chain to a target without divinity. The higher one's spiritual energy the stronger these chains would become. The chains continuously twist and tighten with enough force to attempt to tear off limbs or destroy weapons. It appears to even bind the space around itself, and it is capable of rendering transportation by Sonido and Shunpo completely useless and nullified.

Duties: Protecting the Elemental Shrine of Fire
Overview: The Li clan is a nearly extinct fallen noble family of spiritually gifted, aggressive fighters. Their near extinct status is due to an order from Central 46 to exterminate them. The cause for this was unknown, but due to their natural aggressiveness it cannot be assumed to have been unprovoked. For years, the Li has been in the Soul Society as its Reserves and Backup forces or directly on the frontlines. There is reason to believe that the captaincy of the 8th Division and 11th Division runs in the Li Clan, as at least two members of them family heads, have held the title captain. Though after the massacre by orders of Central 46, there are few Li’s alive, though they are mostly exiled from the Soul Society.

Relic Description:
Ea: The Sword of Rupture is a massive broadsword with a heavy double-edged blade, notched on both sides near the tip. In its dormant form, the pommel is a single spike, but after awakening it splits open into several. The grip is plain, but the guard is skeletal, with a skull-design on each side leading to the rib cage from which the blade emerges; on one side of the blade, the skull is that of a human, while the other uses a horned demon's skull. Initially, the crosstree is folded in against the ribs. Ea is the sword of the Demon King himself, it is said that the sword has a mind of its own and grants its wielder the power it needs to destroy its opponent. The sword can transform into any weapon the user needs in a single instant of a thought, making it very versatile also because Ea has a mind of its own the sword follows the will of the user so it the user wishes for someone to be killed the sword will move on its own in the form of telepathy and strike the opponent down without the user's hand or help.
