Roman Foi Damir peeked around the tree's edges, attempting to find his favorite mare. He kind of found it romantic that he would seek her out every night he could, like a secret trist. At least in his head, it was a romantic setting. He had no indications it was mutual, but he was happy with pretend so it seemed.
Thamin Her eboy coat blended well in the darkness, and as she waided silently in the waters of a small pond the blue and white blended almost perfectly with the reflection of the sky above. It had been quite some time since Duff had gone for a swim, and though it was best to do so during the day she hadnt had time to do so untill the sun had already set. It was quiet except for the occasional splash from a suddent movement from the mare and the ambiance of inscects and wildlife surounding the area. It was pleasent and relaxing to say the least, and Duff rather enjoied it. After a few moments of waiding Duff took a deep breath and plunged beneath the surface, causing a rather loud splash with her dive.
Roman Foi Damir heard the near by commotion and trotted over at a lazy pace. He could smell the traces Duff had left around the water, and smiled as he saw her frolicking in the water. It was nice sight to see, as he stood leaning against the trunk of a tall oak, the small smile still playing on his lips.
Thamin It took several moments before Duff realized that there was anyone around, and until she did come to this realization she frolicked as a foal would, splashing and diving and erupting from the depths in a spray of droplets. It was during one such surfacing that Duff spied the silvery gleam coming from not too far away, but still in the trees. The treas cast quite a bit of shadow and though Duff herself could not see the moon through the branches of the tall timbers that surrounded her watery playground she knew it to be out and shining brightly because of how it seemed to make her friends coat glow. A soft chuckle escaped the mare as she futily attempted to blow a drenched braid that was seemingly plastered to her face back into place. She knew she had to seem a mess; sopping wet, mane and braids jumbled about every which way and dripping as though they had their own endless source of water with which to do so. She shrugged and nodded a greeting to he friend. "I simply could not resist..." She gave as a preemptive explanation for her commotion and frolicking.
Roman Foi Damir chuckled and nodded his head, understanding completely. He loved the water, though the rest of his family, save his mother, we not too fond. Their wings didn't do too well when wet. Her smile made his chest nearly ache though, he noticed, and wanting to be closer, began wading his way into the water. He was greeted with chilly laps up his legs at first, feeling his hooves sink into the soft mud ground. He found himself not brave enough to venture deeper into the chillier depths than midway up his forearms and thighs, though he still smiled, more nervous and anxious than anything.
Thamin The corner of Duff's mouth turned up uncontrollably and stayed so as Damir made his way to the waters edge and began to venture into it. She back-stepped and sank further and further beneath the rippling surface until all that was left to be seen was her head. She found it fascinating how the water affected her movements, and in all reality found it to be quite amusing and exciting. Unless one had actually been there on her first encounters with large bodies of water one would have never realized that until a month ago she had been utterly terrified that she may drown and had never ventured deeper than her ankles. She moved slowly through the deeper portions of the pond, each step causing her to bob as he pushed forward from the soft submerged ground. "Once you've been in for a while the water seems to warm up." Duff added to Damir as she swam, assuming he stayed in the shallows due to the temperature. "But for it being cooler night weather it isnt so bad."
Roman Foi Damir's smile changed to that of suspicion as he studied the fluid movements around him, shrinking back when the rippling caused the waters to splash up higher than he anticipated. When he felt more adjusted, Damir mustered all his resolve, closed his eyes tight, and sunk down, taking all the cold at once before surfacing some ways deeper. The water now reached near his back, his mane floating around him like water itself. He smiled proudly at Duff, having fun twisting his hooves around in the mud, below.
Thamin At first Duff paused as Damir retreated slightly from the water; she was worried that he may be frightened of the water or may not like to swim. She bobbed in place and watched curiously until Damir went below the waters surface. Perhaps it had just been the temperature after all. She shook her head at herself and at her worry. Damir was much closer now that he surfaced, and though it was only a few droplets Duff attempted to splash Damir using the spade of her tail. She had expected more, but on second thought it was an adequate splash considering it's size and strength. She chuckled. "See...Not so bad, eh?" And with that Duff dove beneath the water once more.
Roman Foi Damir smiled, crinkling his snout at her splash. He laughed more, following her dive. He followed her, ready to return the splash. He was fairly good with swimming, kicking his hooves and propelling him farther in the depths.
Thamin Duff kicked off beneath the surface, soft clouds of sedment erupting from where her hooves had been. The water beneath the surface was dark due to the night, but visability was not affected, leastwise for Duff. She squn around as she drifted to where her hooves couldnt touch, light filtering down invisible rays that danced and dappled the water around them. To her it seemed to be the closest she would ever get to flying. Completely suspended in the water she turned back to her friend and waved with her tail. She knew she would have to return and surface in only moments, but it was simply amazing to seemingly float without the aid of anything.
Roman Foi Damir slowed to float about a foot from Duff, watching her with all his interest. The moon beams that penetrated the water's surface danced her body, catching her blues and blacks, nearly making her invisible at some points, and absolutely glowing at others. She was sure a beauty to see.
Thamin Duff floated still for a moment as Damir drew closer, taking note of how his long and silvery mane swirled about in the water, swooping and drifting with each movement from her friend. It was fluid in movement, seeming to be it's own entity as it bobbed and danced of it's own accord like liquid white gold. She dropped her gaze suddenly though, realizing that she was staring. It was rude to stare, and she felt bad for it... But... She peeked up for a moment more, taking in the sight one last time, before kicking and spinning as she swam to reach the shallows once more. Her kicks were long and fluid, like one galloping in slow motion as she made her way through the pool, much unlike her 'doggy paddle' she had once done. She had come to find that with the longer strokes one was actually able to move faster and use less energy and air, prolonging the time one could stay beneath the surface. As she passed her friend she accidentally brushed against his side. She hadnt meant to, and hoped it didnt disrupt his own swimming adventure or movements. She took the opportunity though to pat Damir with her tail and to point towards the surface. She needed to go get some air and she didnt want him to worry that she was just leaving him behind; also, she didnt know if he would need any help getting back to the shallows. He certainly seemed to know what he was doing though, but Duff always figured an ounce of precaution was worth a pound of cure; she didnt want anything to happen to Damir, and she wouldnt be able to live with herself if he did indeed need help and she just left him behind.
Roman Foi Damir felt his heart raced when she studied him like that. He was enthralled, and deeply wounded when she did look away. He was staring, unashamed, but she seemed... what? Embarrassed? That saddened him. He so much enjoyed that he felt on equal ground with her, right in that moment. Neither could speak below the surface, and he felt less a freak than he constantly did on dry land. Alas, soon, Duff began to swim upward. However, before she breached the surface, he felt her brush his side. He felt a spike of emotion shoot through his chest and stomach, like lightening, as he watched her. With eyes slightly wider, he caught her motion with her tail. Well. So much for enjoying the silence. He was needing air soon, too, no longer being as distracted. He felt his lungs wanting to contract and drag the air in deeply, and so he kicked upward, and forward at the same time, propelling his body with out the need to further "paddle" to the top.
Thamin Duff smiled slightly and nodded as Damir made his way to the surface as well and continued her way to the shallows. Her hooves hit the ground and she pushed up through the surface with a splash. Water sprayed everywhere and she shook her braids vigorously from her face. She spun to make sure that Damir made it to the surface, a tad bit too cautious she was.
Roman Foi Damir surfaced, his smooth hair falling nicely to the side with out much effort. His bangs molded with the rest of his long locks, keeping well out of his face for the time being. He enjoyed a wet mane, it seemed. He smiled back, reassuringly. In his opinion, Duff seemed too worried, too often. He didn't like it, not in the least.
Thamin Duff nodded ever so slightly as Damir smiled at her. She took a deep breath, almost like a sigh, as she steadied her breathing from catching her breath from the swim. It was getting late. Duff was at a loss as to what to do next. On one hoof she wished to continue swimming, but on the other a quick run to dry off before settling down for the night sounded pleasant. For the moment she would wait though. She dropped her gaze to the water that was half way up her neck now, debating on whether or not to apologize for bumping Damir, and also for staring. She hadnt intended to be so rude, but at the same time she figured too much time had passed to make amends.
Many, many moments passed as she stared at the water, contemplating not only what she wanted to do, but what was right for her to do. She frowned as she ambled her way from the water to the shore and shook her pelt to help dry off. She was frustrated over the fact that she was being so indecisive. Perhaps a run would be best. She looked over at Damir and offered a soft apologetic smile. "I am sorry for earlier; it was rude of me to stare...."
Roman Foi Damir dramatically rolled his eyes, wading out of the water completely and up to Duff. He stared at her in a almost a mock-scolding expression, touching her cheek with his snout and nuzzling it gently in affection. He shook his head no, intending to let her know that apologizing was unneeded, and frankly, silly. He enjoyed her staring. Remembering those few seconds under the water brought a smile to Damir's expression, and he nudged Duff's cheek again, grinning.
Thamin Duff nodded softly as Damir nuzzled her cheek and shook his head, knowing he meant that she didnt need to apologize. She still, despite his reassurance, felt that it was necessary. She assumed that the smile and nudge was his way of telling her to be happy, and though at that moment she did not feel it she knew he was right. What reason was there to be morose or down? Finding none she nodded again and nudged Damir in return before thinking once again on what to do next. Her plan had been to go for a run once she got out of the water, but just running for no reason felt a little out of place with company about. She paused before turning quickly and suddenly to Damir. "Tag!!!" She yelled as she slapped his side gently with her tail and bolted off into the trees.
Roman Foi Damir at first felt the spike of anxiety with Duff's out of place volume and physical contact before registering that she wanted to play a game. Damir's smile split his face open, more than delighted to see that after all this time, she had finally learned to play tag. Catching on, Damir bolted after Duff. Because he was half wind, Damir was lighter and faster than the average soq. It was more than easy to catch up with his friend, his powerful legs propelling him forward, his head and neck popping front and back with effort. He knocked her rump with the side of his head with a wide smile before pivoting his feet to run the opposite direction, away from the mare.
Thamin Duffs tail end slipped sideways with the light force of the tag and instantly she slid, her hooves digging into the dried leaves and dirt of the forest floor. She was not as quick on her hooves as Damir was, and though she had played the game before with Blake he had always slowed to allow her to tag him after a short run. Of course, she ever would have caught him otherwise; he, being an adult, had been quite a bit bigger than her when she was a foal. But Duff knew this would not be the case this time. As her hooves scrambled to change direction and follow the male she felt a little defeated as the distance between them grew larger and larger. She lowered her head to make herself more streamline and pushed herself as hard as she could. Slowly the distance began to grow smaller, and just as a clearing seemed to be coming up Duff leaped to tag Damir.
Roman Foi Damir laughed, feeling the tap on his rear, if ever so faint. Slightly winded, Damir felt his momentum carrying him several more feet than he intended, before turning and heading back the way he had just come. He eye'd Duff and decided to let her take the lead for a little bit, bolting, but definitely not to the pace he started with. His smile was wide as he eyed the mare ahead of him, and he did admit, getting the opportunity to see her laugh AND watch the muscles of her body ripple with the strength he could admire all too well.
Thamin Duffs hooves thundered as she abandoned caution and poise. In this game having either only hindered ones ability. She had been quite surprised that her tag had even landed and it caused her to giggle with glee; she had taken a blind leap with only the hope that the tag would land after all. She peeked behind her as she fled, curious as to the distance between them, and squealed as she saw him fairly close. She wove her way through the trees dodging trunks and leaping over shrubbery to avoid any lost ground from swerving. Without warning she slid and twisted, taking a sharp turn off to her right. She knew he could and would catch up to her and tag her, but until he did she was going to give it her all to elude him. Almost tauntingly, though playfully, she gave a cheesy smile while looking back at her silvery pursuer as she bolted in the different direction, waving at him with the spade of her tail.
