This is the area where Professor Ozpin addresses all the new students.

Alex made his way to the assembly area after a few unintended detours, but after all that it still seemed like he was the first one here, at least he thought so there were plenty of people here but none really stood out to him just yet. Bending down slightly he placed his guitar case on the floor, before bringing his now free right hand up to his chin "Got to admit, this place is looking pretty good so far" he comments, having made a mental map of the layout of the school. He had heard plenty of good things about Beacon but didn't expect much, he was just sort of expecting another bland school with classes, hallways and offices but was surprised to see the place was much more than that, hell, the assembly hall kind of reminded him of a concert hall, Maybe I could set up a few speakers... there, there, and there... he got caught up in his thoughts once more, planning out where he could set up an imaginary speaker system that would make this place just a little more metal.
Luckily, Alex managed to pull himself out of his thoughts before moving onto banners, stage props and backdrops, he crossed his arms over his chest and looked to Victor "So Victor, what do you listen to? AC DC? Aerosmith? Led Zeppelin? Metallica? Whats your band?" it was apparent that music was all this man could think of, he had practically based his whole life on rock and roll.
Victor casually walked into the assembly area it didn't seem to be very full of people yet witch was good now he could examine the people closer as they came in. "Well I must admit I am a bit impressed we got here sooner than I thought we would with very few wrong turns." hmm maybe there was some hope for this kid yet."Well actually I am not to big of a fan of the heavier music I prefer a bit more classical style to help unwind. That's not to say I don't like a few heavy songs though. What about you though what bands do you like? after all I assume you are a musician of sorts what with the guitar case and all." He said trying to change the focus of the topic a bit after all he didn't much care for people prying into his business.

Alex shrugged at Victor initial comment, "We were bound to get here eventually luck was just on our side I suppose" he replied, he was just as surprised as Victor was about getting here before anybody else of interest. Alex raised an eyebrow at Victor's response to his question on bands, Classical music huh? Well, thats okay I guess not like classical music and metal haven't gotten along before he thought to himself before linking his fingers together and stretching upwards a loud cracking sound being heard as he did so, "Heh, I could answer that but we'd be here all day, so we'll just go with the ones I mentioned earlier as well as some others you'll probably hear me chatting about some other time" it was true actually, once Alex started talking about bands he would never shut up, and he got this weird feeling about Victor, like he might not appreciate having his ear talked off.
Lowering his arms back down he crouched down and lightly tapped the guitar case, he couldn't wait to get his second series of weaponized guitars going, the only one that wasn't just a concept in his head was Requiem which lied dormant in the case. His fingers lightly drummed against the guitar case "You wouldn't happen to know if theres any places nearby where I can get some dust do you? I still need to test Requiem's systems" he asked, it was worth a shot right? Alex was never one to skip the chance to practice a bit, especially if it meant he got to test some new pyrotechnics.
Victor had leaned against the wall to relax while they waited for everything to begin. He then laughed a bit at his response to what was his favorite band, "hahaha fair enough I suppose." Victor then looked down for a moment in thought to Alex's question, of course he new were Alex could get some dust after all up until a few days ago he had bin involved with quit a few different dust jobs as well as countless other kinds of jobs. Even though he himself wasn't talked about much aloud his family name was whispered about at several place's even causing a bit of unwanted attention from the press. As for getting the dust though technically it wouldn't be going against his parole to receive some from other people or his family because he wouldn't be directly involved. He then answered Alex in a bit of a serious tone as he looked back up at him. "Yes I might know of a few shops nearby that sells dust or if you would prefer I could help you out getting some." he then quickly went back to his usual sarcastic tone." I take it Requiems your weapon. could I see it? if you don't mind of course."

Alex looked up at Victor with a smile on his face, "Either way works I suppose, although I'd like to know which stores sell dust in case of an emergency" he explained, looking back down at the guitar case. He brushed his hand over the surface of the case, a big grin on his face when Victor asked to see Requiem, "I thought you'd never ask" he remarked, flicking the locks off with one quick motion. Grabbing the neck of the guitar Alex held it in its guitar state for a few seconds admiring his own personal design before flipping it over his shoulder, a clicking sound being heard as a second layer wrapped over the neck to protect the strings and a handle appeared along the newly formed shaft. With all guitar parts of it protected and the handle now out Requiem was now ready to be used in its scythe form, "Whattaya think? Ain't she a beaut?" he asked, a proud look on his face as he rested it on his shoulder, "Its called the Alernating Exilic Enforcing Guitar, or the A.X.E, its a series of weaponized guitar I was working on, it requires both the skills of a guitarist and the abilities of a weapon user to function properly" he stated with a sense of pride.
Alex brought his free hand up to brush away strands of hair that were hovering over his eye, "Y'see, Requiem is the first in a new line of designs I'm working on, all I need to test is the use of dust in its guitar state" he explained, moving Requiem off of his shoulder and holding it in both his hands. He was obviously attached to the weapon, since he had created not just this one but a previous series of weaponized guitars, a small collection that he left at home choosing to take the prototype with him to go through the testing process. He glanced up at Victor briefly, "So what are you carrying? You don't seem like the type to carry something big and bulky so I'm guessing..." he scanned Victor, he didn't see a sheath or any sort of dead giveaway, so it had to be a concealed weapon "...a pistol or maybe something like brass knuckles?" he guessed shrugging lightly, he was too focused on planning out the testing process for Requiem to fully focus on guessing what Victor's weapon of choice was.
"Ah I see well I believe the closest dust shop around here would be From Dust Till Down run by and old man in town." Victor then watched as Alex pulled out his weapon."Interesting and you say you designed it just how did you manage to weaponize the sound harmonics?" hmm this kid was just full of surprise's but if I could get the designs for that there could be so many more use's for its technology. Victor then came back to when he asked about his weapon. "No No nothing like a pistol or brass knuckles, you see I also like to design weaponry and so I created this." Victor thin flicked his wrist and his dagger slid out from under his sleeve into his hand." May I introduce Ouroboros a little dagger that I created with a few surprise's, as far as I am aware its the only one of its kind." he said with a grin.

After Victor told Alex where he might find the nearest Dust shop Alex flashed a smile, "Perfect, that should be a good place to pick up some test samples to work with" he replied, crouching down and carefully returning Requiem to its case. He stood back up and place his hands in his pockets, "Ah well, y'see... the thing is, its actually not the guitar itself but rather the dust, it reacts badly to intense sounds waves which create the pyrotechnics that can be weaponized, in the previous series the waves of electricity that I had tested with where unstable, but it ended up sort of protecting the user with a orb of electricity that wildly shot around them" he explained, shrugging it off like it was nothing, in truth it was incredibly dangerous in its previous state but he was trying to fix it with the new designs. Alex tilted his head slightly when Victor revealed Ouroboros, how could he have not guessed something so obvious, it was lightweight, easily concealable and was sure to do some damage. Although what caught him was the name, Ouroboros, the name meant a snake that was swallowing its own tail referring to an infinite loop, an odd name for a dagger, Requiem refers to a song placed for the dead at a funeral so it made some sense, and since he was going to make things dead using Requiem it sort of made sense.
Alex returned his neck to the correct angle, "And I'm guessing the surprises will stay that way for now?" he asked rather eagerly, Victor didn't seem like the type to spoil surprises though, he probably preferred to see the reactions when it all comes up. Alex removed his right hand from his pocket and scratched his cheek, "Man, you'd think the orientation would've started by now or something, I was sort of hoping to get in on some action" he complained looking over to the stage which was empty at the moment.
"Hmm I see but still weaponizing the pyrotechnics to work the way you want is no easy task. After all dust by itself is well just dust that often has a lot of mixed results on how it performs. So for you to create such a thing is no small feat. Actually if it wouldn't be to much trouble I would love to see the designs some time." he said seeming more interested, hmm this kid had some good potential he wasn't just another idiot that threw together some weapon and thought they were great.
"Ah yes you are indeed correct I would hate to give away my little secret so soon. Tell me do you know what the best kind of attack is? Its the one the enemy never see's coming. Just as you may have read that the best kind of assassin is the one that is believed to have never even been there. So in simple terms I don't share secrets with anyone early in the game." he said with his usual smile he then retracted Ouroboros back in to his sleeve rather rapidly with very little effort. "You know since its not looking like orientation will be starting anytime soon I don't thank they would mind you playing a bit of music while we all wait, so go on music man go play some tunes." he said with a grin.
"I don't even know why I bothered to accept Karen's gift." A pink haired teen huffed, looking over a book that she received in the mail earlier that week. On the front were big bold letters and the Beacon emblem being viewed through a magnifying glass; It read, "Beacon for the Utterly Clueless and Absolutely Helpless... 5th Edition". She skipped over the preface and intro to Beacon history and went straight to the Drill and Ceremonies section, the first topic being Day One.
She closed the book with a snap and shoved it into the circular pack that she wore on her back, which also happened to be her weapon. If it was any wonder how the girl had managed to have so much stamina, one would just have to strap on the DBX and trek around with it for a week. The teen may not have looked it, but she was plenty strong from lugging the cannon around plus whatever supplies and ammunition that it required.
"Speaking of sis, I guess she's probably gallivanting off somewhere and skipping out on the opening ceremonies." Kanon grimaced at the memory of her sister boasting about her acceptance and her time in the academy. There were several other students beginning to gather, but it seemed there was still enough time to kill before the main event began. Loosening the straps of her DBX, she let it fall to the ground, the heavy weapon letting out a ringing that resonated through the hall. Rotating her arms and hopping in place, she definitely felt better with the burden lifted. Reaching down to a pocket, she pulled out a bag of habanero rings and took a seat on her weapon.
"Man, you'd think they'd point out the snack bar at least. I'll need to have a care package sent in if the campus is like this." The teen sighed as she peered through a red hoop, her lips starting to burn nicely from the spicy powder.

Cyril stood near the back of the group, one hand in his pocket and the other holding Ozpin's gift to him, giving a twirl on occasion. All of the new students were gathered in a large area, awaiting the professor's speech. The lack of action was killing him. All he could really do was look at the scene around him: some ice princess infuriated at a girl in a red hood; another girl babbling on to a boy in green who made about as much noise as a sloth; and two other boys talking to each other, one holding... what is that, a guitar? Glancing to the side, he saw a girl with a black bow in her hair. Seeing her distance from the crowd, he figured that she wasn't that excited about the big gathering either.
She turned her golden-eyed gaze to him, and seemed to smirk, as if she understood his dislike of the crowd.
He turned away, groaning slightly as the Beacon headmaster finally made his way the the center of the stage. The chatter quieted, and all eyes and ears turned to him.
"I will... keep this brief."
Well, there's a lucky break, Cyril thought as Ozpin continued on with his speech. As soon as this was over, Cyril would be gone, maybe to find a relaxing spot in the wooded area around the academy. When the two professors had finished addressing the gathered students, he had already turned to leave.

Alex crossed his arms over his chest as Victor asked to see the designs, "Sorry no can do, they're all up here" he said raising one hand slightly to point at his head, sure it would've been easier to have drawn up some blueprints to work with but he knew that schematics were easy to steal, if he was to be the one to perfect them and begin selling some he would need to be sure that no one else had taken the designs from him. Lowering his hand back down to his chest again, he gives a quick look around the area while simultaneously listening to Victor's statement about the best kinds of attacks, those that were never seen coming. As he glanced about he saw a few people that started to catch his attention, such as a pink haired teen that seemed to carry a large circular pack on her back, it made him wonder what the pack truly contained, then there was this quiet dude wearing ninja looking garb, he also seemed to be scanning the crowd, it made him wonder just how many people were going to show up that looked more prepared than Alex did.
Shaking his head he returned his attention back onto Victor, "Fair enough, guess I was starting to pry huh?" he commented with a shrug, Victor had kept most of his secrets hidden while Alex had already revealed Requiem and its reliance on dust. Alex uncrossed his arms and rested them at his sides, Victor always seemed to be smiling at first it was comforting but over time it sort of creeped Alex out, I guess hes just either trying to be friendly or hes trying to hide his real emotions behind a false smile, probably has a lot to deal with or something... he guessed mentally. He flashed a smirk at Victor, "As much as I wish I could, I reeeally don't want to draw attention to myself too early into the game, as you put it" he said, despite his love for attention he felt it would be best to just wait it out and let the Professor begin his speech, although he mentally kicked himself for turning down the chance to play.
As the Professor cleared his throat and started speaking, Alex turned and fell silent listening to his words, however his eagerness faded slightly as it appeared that he was insulting them and challenging them at the same time, his eyebrow rapidly twitching, Wasted energy!? What the hell gives him the right to call us that!? he thought to himself, gritting his teeth. After the speech he crouched down and picked up Requiem, "...I'll show'em, ain't nobody callin' me wasted energy" he grumbled to himself, his Scottish accent stronger than it was previously. He had become rather determined now, almost forgetting about Victor, he stepped away from the crowd and walked towards the door, stopping just in front of the ninja-dressed man he spotted earlier, turning his neck back to the crowd which he assumed Victor was still a part of "Oy Victor, you comin' or what?" he called out, turning his neck back forward to see the ninja right in front of him. His eyes widened a bit and he was startled slightly, "Oh... errr.. Sorry 'bout that, not exactly in my right mind y'know?" he apologized followed by a nervous chuckle, Great idea, make even more of an a** of yourself, that'll win over everybody he thought to himself rather pessimistically.
"I guess we'll be dealing with more cryptic messages like that." Kanon mumbled to herself, trying to suck the burning powder from her fingers. She didn't seem to be the only one who was put off by the headmasters speech. The vice-headie followed after, announcing their initiations would be held the next day, Kanon feeling a bit excited about her first assignment already. The giddiness was really getting to her.
"Right, the first step! It'll be awesome!" Swiping her bag, she slung it onto her shoulder, using the momentum to turn. Her foot came down and her heel slipped, her ankle twisting oddly. Her chips weren't spilled though, so she didn't consider it a complete failure. "Ow, wow, wow! It's a bad sign... At least it isn't sprained."
She watched the interactions between other students as she headed for the door. She didn't see anyone she knew and her sister never bothered to come, it seemed. The juniors probably could skip the ceremony and just go to their dorm rooms while those just entering had the joy of having a mass co-ed sleep over for their first night. Well, that's what her book told her and who was she to complain? As long as their mom didn't slip in her penguin onesie with the hood. She didn't even like penguins!

~~~~~~~~~~~~Victor Harlequin~~~~~~~~~~~~
Victor simply shrugged his shoulders in response to Alex's answer. "Oh well cant really blame you after all we did just meet, but I thought I would ask any way." no matter I have a theory of how it works and thanks to a few fumbles on his part I have some hints on its mechanics. As he was talking to Alex he began looking around at a few more interesting characters who caught his attention. Hmm I little girl carrying around a large backpack and a ninja dude. this truly was if nothing else a place to meet some interesting people. "Ah that's a shame I bet people would just love to hear your music." he said with a grin.
Soon after the orientation had started and Victor couldn't help but smirk at some parts in Professor Ospins little speech but it didn't seem as though Alex enjoyed it as much as he did, Alex seemed to have a problem with being a waste of energy, he watched as Alex began storming off then suddenly called back to see if Victor was going with him. "Sure why not." as he started toward Alex he caught sight of the girl with the large backpack fall. wow this school is just full of easy targets. he then called out to Alex, "give me a second." he said as he walked up to the girl, " Excuse me are you ok?" he asked as he held out his hand to help the girl up.
"Huh? You trying to hit on me?" Kanon looked up with a look of uncertainty at the green-headed teen's hand. It would have been more flattering to have recieved help if she hadn't just felt like she had been categorized as one of those "ditzy" girls that couldn't handle themselves, mainly her sister. She had a bit more pride than that dumb dora. She rose up and ignored the still numbing pain in her ankle, dismissing Victor's services. "I'm not really interested."
Uncrinkling her bag of habanero rings, giving him a sidelong glance, "Thanks anyways.... Here, have some?" She held out the bag that might as well have been on fire, the smell enough to give anyone not able to handle a few jalapeneos a case of teary eyes. Those that dared to try some of her chips were often given a bit more respect, but it wasn't her foolproof way of sizing someone up. She shook the bag as if to tempt him, or maybe it was out of mockery for being rejected despite his reasoning not being quite the one she had assumed.
