Hmm, how does one critique Vassalord?
I havn't read the manga yet, but I recently saw the OVA, and I have one or two things to say.

Tell us! Tell us both of them!

Just so we are all on the same page, Vassalord is supposed to be a yaoi with vampyres. The legit, dark, creatures of the night, not the sparkly pansies.

To critique this, one must do so both as an action anime (which it most definitely is) and as a yaoi. Never both at once, here's why:
Vassalord is a disappointing yaoi, but an awesome, uber-badass action OVA.

As a yaoi:
This can be summed up in one comment I'm saying right now (not quoting).
Quote:
Really? Not even a kiss? I feel gypped!

(So I used the quote deally, so what?)
Honestly, there is next to zero content that would quallify this as yaoi! The closest it comes is A) they're on a bed and one of them is nude (but in a "oh, by the way, I'm nude" way), and B) some ambiguous sappy lines at the end. It's about as yaoi as Spongebob, maybe less. (SquidBob FTW!)

But as an action OVA:
Best. Action-stuff. EVAHR.
It's all bloody and stabby and awesome! I even reccomended it to my friend who LOVES blood and gore and blood and stabby and blood. And blood.
She hates boyXboy (but she's cool about my rottenness), though, but I think since this is marshmallow/goose-down softcore, I don't think she'll mind.

The only thing I think is universally bad (except the too-vague plot) is the little girls hair. I know, it's just hair, but lemmie tell ya, it looks like her mom (it's always moms who give crap haircuts) was cutting her bangs from both sides inwards, and just stopped for a beer and never finished.

*pauses in the middle to randomly look at SquidBob*

Huh? Oh yeah. Better post this now... cat_sweatdrop
