Life's story:
Growing up in the void had been.... interesting for Soen, while there were never really many people there; his parents always made sure to have him meet those who were in 'town'. He never really understood why his parents did this or made sure to bring up the topics of valuables, or food and water; but they always seemed to come up; and then again later that day when he was having dinner with his parents; though.... they never seemed to be able to remember were the others said there things actually were. But being the loving child Soen was he polity corrected them and continued with there meal. It was sad however that he never seemed to meet the same people more than once; and that they always seemed to "leave town" after there first encounters. Though whenever he asked about this, Soen's parents always said the same thing "They moved to Pandorum" But then again why wouldn't they, whenever it came up; it sounded like an amazing place, medics, no crime, and little radiation compared to the rest of the world.
It wasn't long before the child figured out... at least partially what was going on, over time he knew that he could hear someone's inner thoughts. When he asked his parents if that was common they told him 'of course it is' and showed him so by reading his thoughts as well; unknown to him that the skill he had was rare only to his family. His parents barely able to pick up the boy who was standing right in front of them's thoughts. While Soen himself needed to actually focus on someone (through conversation for example) to be able to hear someone clearly. Luckily he wouldn't need to focus while around his parents, after all they could simply talk to one another; after all there aren't many neighbors in the void.
"They went to Pandorum, They went to Pandorum, They went to Pandorum" It seemed that it was this magical 'promise land' after all everyone was heading there; so when his parents told him that they were going there themselves it was almost a dream come true; he was so exited that he couldn't focus on anything other than that simple fact....
It took a few weeks of travel for them to get there; however as he stood there in front of the massive gates of the city he couldn't help but feel.... overwhelmed, they were.... GIANT. It was true; he really was here! However things didn't seem to actually go the way that he thought they would. After his parents spoke to the man at the gate; he called Soen himself forward, and rather bluntly asked if what his parents said was true, can you hear people's thoughts? "There is no way that can be true" Was what the boy heard in the mans head; and promptly told him so. The man's eyes narrowing slightly; only for the man to make a motion of the hand; the massive doors of Pandorum then swinging open, and the man taking Soen inside; however as he looked back a pair of guards who he hadn't seen before were keeping his parents from entering, what was going on? "THIS WASN'T THE DEAL" His father yelled before getting thrown away from the gate; Soen looking up at the man who had him in horror; only to see a rather large Medical needle come strait for his neck;.... and then darkness......
...As the boy's eyes slowly opened he saw a single figure looking at him, a rather large grin on his face as he did so; or what appeared to be one it was hard to tell behind the high collar he wore. Soen himself was strapped to a table, wrists and ankles bound tightly. It was hard to tell what exactly was going on, he heard something about an experiment, and forcing a part of his brain to work overtime through a chakra shock; or something like that.... he didn't know exactly and he didn't care; his parents had betrayed him; and he was in this current situation.
The next few years of his life consisted of noting put Experiment after painful experiment. Over time he pieced together they wanted to figure out how he was 'reading peoples thoughts' and how to give the ability to other people, as well as super charge this ability; and eventually they succeeded at one of these goals.... however it was the one that would be the straw that broke the camels back; this being an analogy for Soen's mind of course.
While they did figure out how to supercharge the ability the man who was in charge of this 'project' either didn't care about it, or didn't take the ability to narrow the range back down to hone in on a target as something of importance. So with this final experiment the thoughts of the entire city entered Soen's head all at the same time, Thousands of voices in your head all at the same time, with no way to drown them out; and with there project "Broken" or so the man in charge called him, he was discarded, no longer of use and would simply be thrown into a cell for the time being. However that didn't last long; there is only so long someone can last in that state of mind before snapping, when his food was brought in the next day Soen snapped the knife in half length ways and plunged the two thing shards of metal deep into his ears..... there was a searing pain and a loud 'POP'.... however the sound never faded; it remained as loud as ever.
The next day when the guards would check in on him they would find a boy with blood caked onto his ears and his shirt soaked. While on the flip side Soen would notice one thing... while he could still 'hear' them... what they said didn't match up with how there mouths were moving, nor the large steel door make a sound when it had opened up as they entered. Now would be his only chance the men here were in a slight state of shock and didn't know what to do. So without thinking the boy pushed them aside, pulling the keys out of one of the men's hand and slamming the cell door shut before running down the hall of his own hell.
This was the first time in years that he actually was thankful for his ability; while it was the only reason he was here; it was also what would help him escape; while he couldn't focus on a single person; with so many people talking about one topic around him; he was still able to gather enough information to know were the people looking for him where located, and what plans they were making.
Whether it was just his time for something good to happen, or it was someones plan in the long run, he somehow managed to escape outside, stumbling into the busy streets. Tired from mental stress, normal fatigue as well as blood loss it wasn't long before the boy stumbled into a back ally near the edge of the city; it was cruel... he managed to escape the lab, but not the city; and it would only be a matter of time before he was located.... and that was exactly what happened, a pair of men in the same uniform as before appeared before him, towering over the collapsed boy. However just as they were about to carry him away he hear a single blaring thought that seemed to overwhelm everything else around him. Both the men holding Soen freezing in the place, the last thing he remembers of that night was a small figure in pink striding over to the men, causing them for some reason to cower.... and then once again, darkness.
As he woke there was a single girl... possibly only half his age, while again her mouth and words didn't match up it was clear that she had both saved him from those men, and from returning to the place they would have taken him. Not only that but wherever they were; he heard..... NOTHING, nothing but this girls 'voice'
While it was odd sounding, to him she was almost like a guardian angel. Saving a life he had clearly already given up on; so if that was the case he would make sure NOTHING ever happened to hers.
