RP Rules ♦ ♦ ♦ ────────────────────────────────────────────────
♦ No godmoding..
♦ Please follow the official setting!
♦ Do not RP any Corleo that doesn't belong to you. Do not RP someone else's pet. Do not RP any Corleo that you do not have an official cert of, including the adult version of a Corleo you currently own as a newborn or a cub. Please don't steal their childhood... wait until your pet grows!
♦ You may create a human character to RP. This is completely optional. If you want to RP just your Corleo(s) and no human, that is perfectly fine. All human characters must fit within the setting.
You can RP your human character even if you currently do not have any Corleos. Having multiple human characters is allowed. The number of your humans may not exceed the number of your Corleos by a significant margin.
♦ No special powers/ abilities/ supernatural elements that are not "real" in the canon. No laser eyebeams, no time travel, no ghosts, no werewolves, no clairvoyance, etc.
♦ No wide-scale events without shop permission. Things like pride/clan wars are fine as long as all players involved agree to it. I'm talking about something bigger, such as major natural disasters. A couple trees getting struck by lightning near your Corleo's home? That's OK. A wildfire incinerating half the Great East? Not OK. Successful decipherment/ unlocking/ activation of any of the ancient civilization stuff is also off limits.
♦ Keep everything Gaia-appropriate. Sexually explicit RP is not permitted anywhere on Gaia. Not in the main thread, not in the guild, not even in PMs! Even just recruiting partners for that kind of RP is against Gaia's rules, so keep it out of Gaia. Same goes for detailed descriptions of extreme, over the top violence/gore.
♦ Rape is not allowed, except as backstory. If it IS a part of your Corleo's backstory, please do NOT provide any inappropriate details.
♦ Rules for roleplaying cosplay pets:
♦ Cosplays cannot have any special powers. A Harry Potter Corleo cannot use any magic other than normal Corleo psionics, and must stick to one shanak just like everyone else. A Naruto cosplay cannot perform kagebunshin. It all boils down to "no godmoding" and "follow the official setting."
♦ A cosplay Corleo must have his/her own, ORIGINAL story that fits the shop's setting. Do not RP a sequel, prequel, etc. of their official story. Your Ash Ketchum cosplay Corleo is a Corleo born on Sildat; he is NOT a Pokemon trainer who woke up one day and found himself in a Corleo's body.
All of our story takes place within a small continent called Sildat. A narrow channel of sea water divides it into the eastern land and the western desert.
The eastern side is roughly 1250 miles long from the northern tip to the southern end. The city of Rekkadar is located within the Great East, the largest region on the eastern side. The climate is temperate; think Maine for the northerly regions, and perhaps South Carolina for the southern parts. The Southern Shore and Islands are more comparable to central Florida.
The Desert is harsh and inhospitable. It is the land of the exiled, namely violent criminals and necromancers. No one has been able to cross it yet -- not even the desert dwellers themselves.
There is something very odd about the location of Sildat. Whenever the humans tried to look up the GPS on their satellite cell phones (back when they still had some juice in the batteries), the results were all over the place, literally. The phone would say they were in Paris one second, then the next second, Nepal, while another phone would say they were in the middle of Australia.
No one knows where exactly they are, or how this land and its inhabitants have remained isolated from the rest of the world the whole time.
Corleos and humans had not been aware of each other's existence until now. If there had been any contact between the two species in the past, it's been so long and forgotten that it's immaterial. The only humans on this continent are the ones who were aboard the cruise ship that crashed on the shore recently. It was a smallish vessel carrying about 500 passengers -- definitely not one of those huge mega-cruise liners with thousands of people on board.
The ship was an American vessel that departed from New York City, but not everyone is an American. Everyone speaks English though, at least to some degree. Many of them have also begun to learn Fiyuri, the language of the Corleos.
These are modern day humans, so they are quite familiar with cell phones, cars, etc. But now that they're cut off from the rest of human civilization, useful goods are extremely limited. Mobile broadband connection cuts off every two seconds; more fundamentally, batteries run out and can never be recharged; cloths and shoes wear out over time. As for feminine hygiene, sea sponges are a lady's best friend. Also keep in mind that they were on a cruise ship. They'd packed for a Bermuda vacation, not for combat or wilderness survival.
Ancient Ruins and Relics ♦ ♦ ♦ ────────────────────────────────────────────────
Centuries ago, Corleos had a super advanced tech-y civilization. All of the technological knowledge has been lost after a catastrophic event called the Tainting. Yet whatever happened during the Tainting, it doesn't seem to have affected the non-living, such as the architecture or the machineries. The only damages that the ancient buildings have suffered are from time and nature.
Rekkadar's landscape is made of ruins and artifacts, so unless you live far from the city, ruins and artifacts will probably be a part of your RP sessions. However, you won't find any machineries or technological artifacts that are still running/ functional. Machines and artifacts that have retained their functionality will only be accessible through official shop events.
There is a lot to be said about psionics. Here's a run-down of it:
Humans have no psionic capabilities whatsoever. There are quite a few species native to Sildat that have some psionic abilities, but Corleos appear to be the only intelligent psions around.
To Corleos, s'hayom is a natural ability just like the ability to see, smell, or move your limbs. They take it for granted. A Corleo who has lost, or was born without, the ability to use psionics would be considered a cripple.
As noted in the main thread, all Corleo psionic skills fall into one of the five categories, or shanak. Each Corleo is limited to a single shanak through its entire life; it is something you are born with. You can learn a multitude of psi-skills, but they'll all be the same shanak, e.g. all water.
Dark psionics, also known as necromancy, is a unique shanak. It is the only one that you aren't born with (a healer becomes a necromancer when he/she is "tainted"), and there is an enormous stigma attached to it. The vast majority of non-necro folks will NOT allow a necromancer to live among them.

Q. Will I lose my Corleo if I don't RP? Nope! Don't worry about it. The only characters that require RP are those playing key roles in the metaplot, whose unexplained disappearance would create gaping plot holes in the metaplot.
Q. What the heck is the Forbidden Lotus? It's a circle of five gigantic obelisks in the middle of a crater, built before the Tainting. There is always some kind of a dense fog filling the crater. This fog is poisonous, making it impossible to get close to the obelisks.
Q. Do I get any rewards for RPing? RPing is its own reward. What? That's not enough for you? Fine, have some breeding benefits! Check out the breeding info thread for more info on this.
RPing is also currently the only way to raise your Corleo's level/ stats. Having higher stats will give you an advantage at certain events.
The elder stage will also be an RP perk, when it becomes available. However, just because you roleplay your pet a lot doesn't guarantee your pet will attain the elder stage. More about the elder stage requirements will be posted at a later time.

Q. There is SO MUCH TO READ. Will I get penalized if I get some of the setting wrong in my RPs? We're an RP community, not a Corleo 101 class. So no, we don't want to be all nazi about it. No official staff action will happen for really minor stuff. Even when staff intervention becomes necessary, we will be nice about it, we promise! (unless you refuse to comply...)
