Personality: Mayumi is generally a friendly, social, and kind person. She's very charming, and easy to get along with, allowing even the most cautious of people to feel at ease around her. She's down to earth, very obedient, and humble, extremely trustworthy. As a medic, she tends to be levelheaded, caring, and compassionate, but for her, this goes much father than that. Due to her past, she has a deeper connection with nature and all of the living things that inhabit the Earth, and her love and care for nature extends to humans, valuing their life much more then her own. Her love and care is very identical to that of a mother, also having a very soft spot for smaller children. Mayumi is a very optimistic and happy girl, refusing to feel things such as anger or sadness, because it reminds her much of her past. Despite her many good qualities, Mayumi still struggles with confidence, often doubting herself during the most crucial of times, but as a result, she does fairly well at boosting the confidence of others.

Mayumi was born into a Senju Clan family with four other sisters, Mayumi being the youngest. Her parents held a high status within the Senju clan, and the five daughters were being taken care of by another Senju male, since they were hardly ever at home to care for the children themselves. They were required to train, even at a very young age, to further hone their skills in the Senju Clan's Wood Release. Mayumi was often neglected by her four older sisters, not only because she was the youngest, but she was considered the "disgrace" of the family, not having discovered her talent for the Mokuton yet. Her parents found another family for her to live with, one that was less fortunate than her own family, and who didn't possess Kekkei Genkai. They treated her fairly well, especially her new mother, who enjoyed planting, inspiring Mayumi to become more aware of nature and its surroundings. Her new father didn't seem so excited about her arrival, for he wanted a son, and considered a daughter to be weak. He never treated her very nicely, so Mayumi made sure to stay out of his way, and was constantly near her new mother.
As she grew older, her potential as a medic was shown through her care for injured animals. Living in a fairly poor house out in the woods, the family relied on hunting and killing of animals to get food, which Mayumi did not like. Often she scurried around the woods to all the traps her new father set up, and would rescue and care for the animals caught, nursing them back to health before releasing them. She would leave a few, just so her adoptive parents could eat, but always sent a prayer for their deaths, thanking them for their nourishment. Eventually, Mayumi became a full time vegetarian, opting to go retrieve her own herbs and plants for food, rather than eating meat from a dead animal. The father was becoming more aware of her ways, and assumed she was the one releasing the animals from his traps, and from then on, whenever an animal would not be present in a trap each morning, she would be brutally beaten for each occurrence. Her adoptive mother objected against this punishment, but could do nothing to stop it herself, and would tend to Mayumi's wounds daily.
When she was old enough to enroll into the academy, she did, and it was there she was reunited with her four older siblings, who had seemed to forget she ever existed. She was ignored by them, and sometimes picked on by the other academy students in the class, because she came from a very poor family, and possessed no special skills. Her white hair made her stand out in the crowd, and could easily convince anyone that she was not related to her four older siblings, since she differed so much from them. Mayumi was scared to present her talents in fear that she would mess up, or people would make fun of her, so she remained quiet, submitting to the crowd that constantly bullied her without any resistance. This prevented her from getting beat up on several occasions, but this only made her even more of a disgrace in her real family's eyes, who decided that she would permanently stay with the poor family she was with. In between the brutal beatings from her adoptive father at home, and the teasing, bullying, and torture from the academy, Mayumi felt she had no place in this world.
On her way home from the academy, she traveled deep into the woods that surrounded her home daily, to play with the small animals, or heal some of the injured ones. She still continued to free animals from her father's traps, despite the beatings she would receive because of it, valuing the life of these animals more than her own. Arguments arose frequently within the home between her new parents, some broke into fights, where her father would brutally beat her mother and leave her. Mayumi always came to her side, tending to her wounds with the little medical knowledge she had. Finding the courage to tell her what has been happening to the trapped animals, she told her. The mother was worried, but had nothing to say about it. Mayumi continued to go to the academy, and was able to graduate with her class. On her way home to tell her new parents about it, she heard arguing and shouting, and then lots of banging noises. She went into the house, only to see her adoptive mother lying dead on the floor, and her adoptive father covered in blood, now looking at her. She ran to her family's home, only to be rejected by her mother and father, who disowned her entirely.
In fear of dying if she went back to her new family's home, she had no choice but to head straight for the forest. She was able to find a large tree with an opening, where she took refuge, along with a few other smaller animals who kept her company. A few days after the incident, she returned to her new family's home to retrieve her collected herbs and plants for food, her makeshift medical kit, and her adoptive mother's red cloak. Afterwards, she brought her adoptive mother's dead body to her spot into the forest, and gave her a proper burial. Mayumi spent several years out in the forest, becoming accustomed to the way the forest worked, and her new lifestyle. She enjoyed being surrounded by the small animals, feeding them, caring for them, and protecting them from predators. By the time her seventeenth birthday arrived, she found her talent for her clan's Mokuton, and returned to the village to become a medical ninja, to care for Kirigakure's shinobi.
