Josephina shuddered as the cold water ran down her back and shoulders. The water in the creek was often cold, yet she bathed here anyways. Her black hair fell down her back once she removed the tie that often bound and her hair in place. It was nice to be free once in awhile, from expectations and the prying eyes of civilians as they wondered what made you so different from them? It was magic, but that's a secret the priestess wasn't willing to share. The sun hung low in the sky and she could tell that it was almost nightfall. No one would bother her now, she sighed in relief and tilted back her head to let the water run down her neck. No, not a soul in sight or sound...

Rosalyn, having slipped out of the castle unnoticed, was walking through the forest when she came across the sound of splashing water. 'That's odd... I didn't know people were--" The princess's thoughts and feet stopped dead in her tracks as she saw a girl bathing. Rose stepped back and snapped a twig as she tried to back away, managing to get her foot tangled in a root sticking above the ground and falling backwards, letting out a slight yelp of surprise as she hit the ground, which would prove to definitely give away her presence.

"Agh!" She yelped as she hit the ground, her foot caught in the root as she struggled to get out of it. She didn't want the girl to think she had been peeping on her, as she had just been passing through... But assumptions would probably be made.

Having heard the ruckus, Josephina turned to see a girl, who was twisted and tangled in roots and branches. "Troublesome woman." It was a nuisance, but she helped to untangle her. She felt her eye twitch in irritation as this girl had interrupted her bathing ritual. Just lovely, not only that, but she was obviously a princess. Lovely, the girl was going to tell on her now, was she? Bathing outdoors is improper of a priestess, not that this sheltered little girl would know. But since she saw her, Josephina couldn't contain her anger.

"State your name and purpose." she said with authority, hoping against all odds that maybe she would know. Priests and priestesses practically controlled the kingdom. The king was highly religious and would do just about anything if you say 'god said so', which is something that irked the priestess, he was so gullible. Most kings knew better,. It was surprising that they hadn't burned Josephina like they had Joan of Arc. Everyone that knew her knew that she was also a warrior, an occupation that many frowned upon since she was a woman.

Rose's eyes widened as the other girl approached her and untangled her foot from the roots. Putting her hands up in defense, she shook her head repeatedly. "I-I wasn't s-spying, I s-swear!" She stuttered, turning beet red in the face and cursing herself silently for stammering and seeming so childish... She backed up a bit at the authority in the woman's voice as she spoke. Still red in the face, Rose looked down as she was pretty much ordered to tell her what she was doing out here. Wasn't escaping punishable? Shuddering at the thought of this already upset woman unleashing wrath on her, Rose looked back at her after gathering quite a bit of courage. "R-Rosalyn..." She murmured, looking down again. "And... leaving..."

Rose hoped the girl wouldn't question why she was leaving, but the girl had more power than she knew...

"Not until you tell me why you're here, even 'just passing through', is a valid enough response. Telling me that you weren't spying May seem suspicious to a normal person. However, I am not, and I can tell whether or not you are lying. So tell me." she walked towards her several paces, still unclothed and very much irritated. It's not often that a person, especially a princess, comes stumbling into her humble abode. This property was hers, since it was a part of the shrine.

"You do realize that you're trespassing, don't you? Even the king hadn't the authority to visit here with my consent. This shrine is mine." she practically snarled. Yes, this girl was indeed troublesome. "And here you had the nerve to trespass and you're going to run away? That's not going to happen."

Rosalyn scooted back a bit further as the girl approached her, worried about what her plans were to do with her. Trying to keep at least a few feet of distance between the angry woman and herself; the princess frowned as the woman said she was trespassing. Quite angrily, in fact. Still nervous of what the woman was going to do with her, Rose forced down the worry. The king was kind enough not to mention the shrine to her, so she had no idea that it existed, let alone that she had arrived at it. Truth be told, the king wasn't her father. Her true father had been a commoner her mother had fallen in love with and become pregnant by. So to save face, her mother was forced to marry a man from the royal hierarchy. For both her own sake, and Rose's sake as a future ruler. Sighing, Rose looked at the woman.

"The king was kind enough to leave me in the dark about the shrine." She muttered, a bit of venom in her words at the word 'king'. Truly, the king was a fool. Rose disliked him very much. At the woman saying she had the 'nerve to trespass', and that her running away wasn't going to happen, the girl frowned. "I did not realize, no. And I have no intent of taking what is yours. I do not intend on staying, nor do I intend on returning to the castle." She replied dryly. "If you want me to leave, I will leave. But I am not going back to that hellhole." She added in a low tone, showing her home life wasn't at all as it appeared to others. The king could be quite abusive when he wanted to be, and her mother wouldn't lift a finger about it. Tugging her own sleeve down to hide a dark purple bruise he had left her with when she tried to leave, Rose looked back at the woman; eyes full of determination to not return.

Josephina snarled at the brat in front if her, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. How could she not know about the shrine? Unless, the coward of a king was actually afraid of her- a woman? Ha! That was truly laughable, but she did have the reputation. The only reason he didn't burn her alive was because she was stronger than his whole army. They were weak and pathetic, the king seemed to have a way of choosing the most useless of warriors. "That's because he's weak..." she snarled at the thought.

"That coward... Should've known." her eyes casted dark shadows as a twisted look crossed her eyes. She was shaking with anger when she grabbed a hold if the girl's arm, the one with the bruise. "You can't keep anything from me, Rosalyn. He did this to you, didn't he? given her reputation, she couldn't say she got out completely unscathed. This so called king didn't approve of her choices. "He tried to take the shrine when he found out about me. There was do many things he found out and didn't like. What these things are, they're complicated. But let's say that the king's biological daughter and I ran away together and he killed her to get to me. I bet you didn't know about his daughter." she began to dry off and pulled on her robes. "He became afraid of me when I proved to be a stronger warrior than his entire army." she smirked venomously.

She turned to the girl with a somewhat concerned, somewhat annoyed look on her face. "It's a nuisance, but you can stay with me. But-" he paused to point at her dramatically. "You annoy me, double-cross me, or prove yourself to be useless, then there will be hell to pay!" she said while trying to maintain the harsh glare. This truly was... Troublesome.

Rosalyn would have laughed as the woman called her 'father' a coward, if she didn't have a dark, angry look about her. She had never heard anyone speak of the king negatively aside from her own words... But her own words brought scars... Scars other than the bruise that hopefully this woman wouldn't discover soon... Rose jumped back slightly as the woman grabbed her arm, eyes wide as she said she couldn't keep anything from her. Great... That meant that the scars on her back wouldn't be secret for long... When the woman told her of the king's biological daughter, Rose looked away. He had mentioned her several times; but always said it was Rose's fault she had died. "I knew about his daughter... Just not the truth..." She muttered, pulling her arm from the woman's grip. "He always said she was dead because of me... And to have a man who isn't your true father calling you a parasite; a killer.. It's not easy." She sighed, looking at the woman with tears in her eyes. "All this time I thought I was the cause of what he called my 'sister's' death..." She added, balling up her fists. "He told me that to keep me weak.. To hurt me... And all this time it's been a lie and he was the one that killed her... I should've known..." She started to growl lowly, eyes glowing with anger, before they softened again and filled with tears as she looked at the woman. "I don't want to be a nuisance to you, as you say. You've been through enough without me complicating things..." She said as tears started to fall from her eyes. "I've already proven to be more than useless when it comes to being a princess.. I couldn't even protect my mother from him.... As for double-crossing you, if I'm known for anything, it is that I never betray people. I don't consider myself a saint, but I would never double-cross someone..." She finished with a light sob, before turning away from the woman. "Unless you can make use of me for something other than a worthless being better off dead than alive, I have no use being here to trouble you.."

Rose tried to hide her face, but was clearly shaking from crying as she stifled a sob and tried to run away from the situation. This was hopeless... Rose didn't see a reason she should even try to keep up living anymore.. She had no friends, no family.. And in time the king would probably kill her and her mother.. After getting a bit away from the shrine, Rose dropped to the ground and sobbed into her hands. All this time... He had been lying.. She should've expected this from the king, but it hurt to find out she was probably the reason for this other woman's pain...

OoC: Rose won't be this emotional all the time, so don't worry. ^^;;

A little drama makes for a good roleplay though, I suppose. :3

Josephina didn't usually do this, but she pulled the girl toward her into a warm embrace. Her eyes stung with tears because of the memories, but bit one left her waterline as she pulled back and looked the other woman over. She was suitable for magic, if anything else. Although it would be difficult, she would try. The priestess also know that she would want to train her in the art of being a priestess, she maybe even teach her some self-defense moves. But she kept her eyes trained on her while remaining deep in thought. She hadn't known that the lowly toad had blamed this girl. She thought of him as pathetic, but never knew he was this pathetic.

"I may be able to teach you to be a priestess so you can help me run this place. Everything from tea ceremonies to rituals. I'll even teach you to use magic, but only if you keep it a secret. They already hate me for knowing to fight." it was true, they would find any other excuse to send her to her execution. In fact, it was only a matter of time. She should've know better by getting involved with his daughter in that way, she wasn't ready and Josephina should've known. It was just too soon to run. "I'm just... At aids for words. I knew he was pathetic, but to blame you, who was completely uninvolved? That's just pure blasphemy." she glared into the nothingness. Yes, she should've known. This is what she got for he'd 'mistake', wasn't it? All she did was love, and all this girl did was exist. She went into a bit of a trance after awhile. Her eyes were still dark with pain when she finally turned to girl and told her to follow along. They made their way to her actual shrine where she told her to remove her shoes at the entrance. As a half-Japanese raised in Japan, she knew the customs and followed certain ones. Her clothing and the shoes-thing, got instance.

"Do you have any clothing with you, by any chance?" it really would make it easier, especially if it was a kind of clothing suited for a priestess. But it didn't matter either way, she had a white and pink outfit that she held onto that would work just as well. Not only that, but it was adorable, as well. She still scowled, a habit more than anything. These years had made her a bit cynical, a trait that was undesired, yet hard to let go if. She hadn't said anything, but she was already making tea. Josephina had a few paste ties from earlier that were just as good after cooking off, so she added in those as well. "Would you like some, as well?" she asked. Her hands balled tightly in fists at her lap as she awaited her answer. Josephina was a bit irritated at the whole predicament, but tried not to injure the little princess.

Rosalyn was taken by surprise when the woman pulled her into a warm embrace, but it wasn't an unwelcomed gesture. Shaking slightly from crying, the girl clung to the woman, wanting to just burrow her face into her shoulder and sob. Rose resisted the urge for now, not wanting the other female to be angry with her again. As the woman pulled out of the hug and looked her over, Rose wiped the tears from her own face. "S-sorry.. I d-don't like to c-cry as it m-makes things worse..." She admitted meekly, looking down. The princess's eyes snapped right back to the woman as she offered to teach her how to be a priestess and how to use magic and fight... "You would do that for me?" She asked in surprise. She started to cry tears of happiness and relief, but quickly regained composure and bowed her head in thanks. "T-thank you so much!" She exclaimed, almost crying again out of happiness. Restraining from starting to sob again, Rose noticed the woman had motioned for her to follow. Getting up and quickly running after her, Rose followed the woman. Stopping in front of the shrine's entrance, Rose removed her shoes as instructed. When the woman asked if she had any clothing with her, Rose shook her head sadly. "I did, but they were taken when I was caught leaving..." She muttered. "He said if I wanted to live outside the castle I couldn't bring any of its belongings..." She sighed. "Although I managed to smuggle some money and food, I don't have much..." She finished, pulling a bag out of the inside of her clothing. Pulling the contents of the bag out, which consisted of some cheese, rolls, and a little meat, along with a small pouch filled with gold pieces, she set the empty bag on the floor and placed the food and pouch of gold down on top of the bag to keep the food clean. "I'd be happy to share what I do have, though. Perhaps the gold coins can go to the shrine, or for getting food..."

Rose smiled slightly at the offer of tea. She sat across from her, nodding slightly. "Yes please.." She replied. "Would you like some?" She asked, gesturing to the food on the empty knapsack she had placed between them.

OoC: Sorry this took so long! Haven't been feeling well and a lot of drama's been going on. x___x

& Good to hear Josephina won't be cold all the time. I really enjoy the tsundere characters though. She's already awesome in my opinion, but to see her get loving with Rosalyn will be even more fun!

Josephina inspected her contents and money. Much to the surprise of many, the shrine had quite a bit of money. Many people donated and the king often brought I quite a bit in fear of the wrath of god. He also didn't want to make her mad, now that he knew what she was capable of. She still smiled at the gesture, though, but politely declined and told Rosalyn that it was her money to spend and that the shrine had plenty of it. As for the food, she agreed to split it. If they wanted then the two could go and buy food, however this food wouldn't last forever and it needed to be eaten as soon as possible.

"That would be nice." she said, referring to the food.

Rose smiled as the woman told her to keep the coins, but agreed to split the food. Rose awkwardly extended the empty knapsack with food on it to the girl and smiled. "Help yourself..." She said in her usual soft voice, waiting a moment before taking some for herself. She took one of the fresh rolls and bit into it, making a little cute sound at the taste.

Blushing as she realized her reaction to the roll, Rose blushed and looked down at her lap awkwardly. "...Honey rolls... They've been a favorite of mine since I was a child.." She admitted sheepishly. Looking at the woman with an embarrassed blush, Rose realized they hadn't formally introduced themselves. "Oh.. I almost forgot to introduce myself. My full name is Rosalyn Ann Goodwin... But I reject my last name... Obvious reasons.." She sighed. "But please call me Rose..." She added.

She paused, before continuing. "What should I call you?" She asked, tilting her head to the side slightly.

"Josephina, but my full name is Josephina Louise Antoinette." her name was well known, although her appearance or her standing as a priestess wasn't. "Is it?" she took a bite of the roll and nearly had a facegasm, but at the same time she kept her face straight. No emotion seeped through as she ate it very slowly. It was really interesting how the other woman reacted to it. They were really good, she'd have to admit, but she didn't feel the need to expressive. (Refused to) "Now hurry your a** up, we haven't got all day." she snapped. Yes, there was much to be done and so many things to be discussed with so little time. She tapped her fingers impatiently while waiting for her to finish.

Rose nearly choked on her roll when she heard the woman state her name. She was THE Josephina?! The one she'd heard so much about through the soldiers? Of course they spoke negatively of her fighting as a woman, but they always said her fighting skills were unmatched by any of them. Gossip spread more quickly in the castle than anyone would ever think; mostly because of the king and his mindless followers... Quickly regaining composure, she swallowed her bite of roll and coughed a bit, covering her mouth as she coughed slightly.

The girl blushed a bit in embarrassment as Josephina told her to 'hurry her a** up'. "S-sorry..." She stammered slightly, finishing her roll as quickly as she could, averting her eyes slightly as she finished her roll. 'Hic...' She hiccuped slightly from finishing the roll so quickly. Blushing even redder, she took her cup of tea and took a sip of it silently, before setting it back down. "Okay, so... um... What now?" She asked nervously, looking back up at the woman.

"Tch." Josephina wasn't so fond of her so called 'fame', she fought for a sues not for the glory. But now she couldn't go anywhere, not even the cold pale darkness of sleep, to escape the horrors of the past. She killed many people in her time and unlike the barbaric men of the army, she wasn't proud. There was regret deep in her eyes that made way for a wisdomso great that only those who have experienced this could understand. She figured that the girl would've at least heard of her and she also expected a reaction. But this? How could she be so calm in the eyes of a murderer?

"Doesn't it bother you? I've killed many people and you aren't going to run for it? Most people would've been terrified. I am a woman and a warrior, it is unheard if." she snapped, then regained her composure. "Let's go inside to start on the daily cleaning- fix up this mess! We wouldn't want to draw in bugs." she said with much authority.
