Wrath Teleported home to Dracano, and could tell from a far that The Emperor was having an event of some kind, for he could see the many Dromea heading toward the Royal fields. He decided to follow. Upon reaching the fields and finding out what was going on exactly he grabbed a basket and began to help in the harvest. He gently picked each pepper, being careful not to damage the plant each pepper was on so that in turn the plant would bloom again and new peppers would eventually grow. While he was careful he was also slow as was his nature. Wrath had plenty of time and he felt honored that he was able to participate in the harvest of the royal fields. These were fields that peasants like Wrath rarely saw, and so to see such a massive expanse of pepper fields was a humbling experience. Wrath hummed as he worked, picked each pepper carefully and slowly; ensuring that the plants would soon flower again. He dared not wipe his face of sweat because he knew first hand that just touching a pepper and then touching the face was a stupid move. Wrath picked the peppers to the best of his ability and made absolutely sure that no pepper was damaged in the process. These peppers belonged to the emperor. So they were more precious than normal peppers. He kneeled over each plant and carefully inspected every pepper before picking. The peppers that weren’t ready for picking he left on the plant, knowing they would grow larger and would eventually be ready for picking. He had one other reason to be careful with the peppers. Peppers were one of the most important if not the absolute most important food in Dracano. Peppers were used to help young learn to breath fire, they were used in medicines and ointments. Peppers were used to season food and were often eaten as snacks. And those were just the side benefits. They were eaten for health reasons as well, and so peppers were vastly important.
Wrath smiled after a while, “Never thought I’d be working the royal fields…” and he slowly moved from plant to plant. “Funny. I grew up eating peppers. Now I’m surrounded by them for hundreds of acres.” Wrath took the full basket to one of the waiting field workers and took an empty basket to continue his work. Once more he started to work, carefully picking peppers and placing them in the basket. This was without a doubt a rather gratifying job, because Wrath knew the importance of peppers to his people. He hoped the peppers he was picking would go to good use. He stopped humming after a while and began to recite words as he tried to think up or compose a poem to describe his current experience. This was meticulous and delicate work, it was fairly easy, but it took a very long time. Not a problem at all for Wrath, he was used to going slow. Wrath turned in his basket and decided to return to the Black forest to see what he could achieve. And so he was teleported again.

Wrath suddenly appeared in a clear patch of the royal fields in his wyvern form. He transformed back to his human state, grabbed an empty basket, and began to once more pick peppers. He was careful as he had been before, gentle to both the plants and the peppers upon them. Wrath smiled as he worked; knowing that while he wasn’t really the fastest worker, he was definitely loyal. If ever the emperor called upon him for aid, Wrath would undoubtedly answer. Wrath was no soldier, not even close, but he was without a doubt loyal. He worked for a few more minutes and turned in his basket. He was surprised when someone handed him a dragon hide, and a small amount of currency, but he didn’t question the gifts. They might even have been from the emperor himself. Then Wrath Teleported away.

Isra shyly enters the pepper patch and takes up a basket, heading over towards the nearest pepper plant. Her delicate hands dance through the plant gently as they feel for peppers. Each in turn she tenderly inspects for ripeness and quality. The good ones she pulls, the bad ones she sets into a pile next to the plant. The seeds might yet be extracted for future pepper plants. The unripe ones remain on the herb. These are very small peppers and it takes a great number of them to fill the basket, but the plants are bountiful this year. The Emperor's farm hands have truly out done themselves this year. Her efforts are not in vain, while the out put on these is not as high as some other peppers, it is the most valuable of the lot. The spicy berries also complicate things by releasing capsaicin through their skin, which would make most people's paws red and burn from just simply handling them. However, she is used to handling these and pays little mind to the burning sensation on her paw pads. Her fur certainly helps protect her hands as she remains in full Siamac bipedal form. No going into human form while handling these. It would be wiser to touch a scalding pot, in her opinion. While this may or may not be an exaggeration, she simply refuses to test that notion. A soft wind brings a welcome cooling sensation and makes her shawl and skirt flutter in the wind. She makes a note to wash thoroughly her body and clothing, especially her apron. If one were to look out in her direction and some how see the slight frame of this female Siamac, they would find it odd, perhaps, to see a Siamac here of all places. Those that know Siamac know that the females don't usually venture far from their native tribal grounds, while males are more likely. However, it is probably not common knowledge, and she is simply a mere curiosity of furry kitty person among a sea of scales and pepper plants. The warm weather of Dracano is welcome compared to the cold of Graun during this time of year. Her attention is fully on her work. Just because the dragon emperor is not her own illustrious emperor, it does not mean she will not give him the same level of respect and consideration by doing her best work possible for making the pepper basket as nice as possible. The act of farming is not unfamiliar to the Siamac peoples, even if it is usually the males who do this. However, it is not so far fetched that a girl would know a thing or two since the males are not exclusively the farmers. Though the girls usually work the family plots of land while the males usually work on the one for the village and for paying tribute to the Great Emperor known as Greyhawk. The village she is from is no different, as most are fairly simple places. A tribe composed of several family clans which live in burrow homes, much like that of hobbit houses, ringed together in circles, back to back with the family plots in the center. She fondly remembers the village she has left. The village priestess who lived in a burrow with no circle, but with her small batch of kittens. The wandering priest, the priestess' mate, who would come to town every few months. The intentionally overgrown grasses, plants, and hedges grown to keep wild predatory beasts away from their young. The well worn earthen paths from home to home, to the work fields, to the path leading out of the village, to basically every location there. Her mind then drifts over to why she had left. An unhappy situation in her own den. Being expected to find a mate the next spring, regardless of if none of the males interested her or otherwise being attracted to them. The pick of males this year for her village was rather abysmal and her rejection of them all did not end well between her and her father. His anger was palpable. Culturally speaking, at least for her tribe, girls were given only this one thing for a choice. And by not choosing one of them [one of whom had been the village chief's sons] and opting to wait for the next spring did not go well. Not in the least. After that wretched first day of summer, and the mandate by her father after being subjected to the scorn of the adults of the village, she could not stand living there any more. She was not going to have the one right she was given be abused. Even if she were raised in this environment, she resolved that she was not going to be somebody's kitten factory, wind up in an unhappy marriage simply to appease her father or village chief, or even worse - wind up being married to a monster. Some of the girls she had grown up with had that happen to them, simply because they had chosen males that had caught them or because the males were handsome. While male and female Siamac share a lot of physiology - slender form, generally feminine in appearance, and grace. The males were often stronger and bigger. Well, by bigger I mean taller. A bulky male is almost unheard of, as is a fat tom. However, not impossible. One such large tom from a mountain tribe had come by that year. He had married one of her sisters, and settled into a house nearby. He seems nice enough, but the choices that she had were basically not as nice. A drunken widower who had lost several wives before, a male known for public violence, and the arrogant village chief's brat. That jackass had a habit of bullying her when they were children. Her father had chased off the other two with a pitch fork, but thought the village chief's spoiled son was a good choice. Rejecting him was what set off his ranting and raving. Since then she has been wandering and traveling. Doing whatever work she can manage. All of this introspection has made work go by fast. She happily hands over the basket and is rewarded with two pints of peppers and some money. It will come in a lot of handy.
1068 words - 2 pints of dragon peppers and $100 *woah ... dragon peppers. Hooooooooot.*

Scarlet arrived at the Royal Fields curious about why so many Dromea were headed their. The young dragon knew nothing of loyalty having been chased out of her own tribe when she was barely eight. She also found communicating with others to be extremely difficult. Maybe because she had been so young or maybe because she was a dragon who could not roar. Scarlet noticed that the others were taking empty baskets and heading out to the fields with them while others were bring full baskets back and either trading them for another empty basket or for a reward. After watching for a few minutes she grabbed an empty basket and headed for a random spot away from the others. She hoped that by working by herself that no one would notice anything strange about her. The girl hoped that she could get some real work done before the trouble started and she was chased away again. Scarlet had decided to go ahead and work here for awhile. More for something to do and any sense of loyalty. Also from what she had seen earlier they were allowed to keep some of the peppers that they picked. And any young dragon new the importance of peppers. Her mother had once told her older brother that for a young, growing dragon peppers were almost more important food source than meat. Of course her elder brother had scoffed at their mothers words. But she had hung onto every word of the lesson big brother was being given. She already knew the importance of reaming still. As long as she remained unnoticed she could learn right along with her siblings. Scarlet pushed the unwanted thoughts aside and started to pick peppers, after a couple of minutes she realized that she knew nothing about picking peppers. So she slipped up on one of the older dragons and watched him while he worked for a few minutes. Then tiptoed away to get back to her own work. She smiled to herself as it seemed that the older dragon had not noticed her. She was not surprised most people never noticed her unless she did something to make noise. Scarlet sighed mutely has she realized that her first spot had been taken by someone else and moved off to find another spot. She liked the peace and quiet. Usually if it was quiet she knew that no one would sneak up and hit her from behind. She growled at herself for letting her thought roam back to her former tribe. Of course like the sigh there was no sound to be heard. Scarlet had been on her own for seven years now and was used to it. But she was not sure if she liked it this way. But between being scorned and being alone she chose to stay alone. Scarlet picked another pepper and realized that her basket could hold no more. She smiled satisfied with herself and went to turn the basket in.

Wrath appeared in the royal fields once more; scaring a worker with his sudden appearance out of thin air. Wrath grabbed a basket and walked in human form down one of the many rows before setting down to start picking peppers next to a girl who seemed younger than him. He deliberately chose to work next to her, because she looked lonely to him and so he chose to keep her company. “No one should ever be truly alone unless they truly want it.” He said before patting the younger dragon on the shoulder very gently. He then got to work picking peppers to fill his basket. He worked carefully, and slowly as usual, being very careful not to damage any of the peppers nor the plants they were on. He smiled as he worked, but he didn’t really know why. Then he began to hum as he worked; humming out the poem he’d composed in the black forest. He hummed out the tune for a while before looking to the younger dragon for a moment and taking in a breath through his nose. He was gathering her scent so that if he ever ran into her again, he’d recognize her instantly. “Hope you enjoy the peppers you get.” Then He went back to work filling his basket slowly but surely with more and more peppers. He worked slowly in a very unhurried way, but he was very precise and made no mistakes. Moving slowly was the key to this. Then again he couldn’t really move fast even if he tried. He knew better. He hummed as he worked, soon switching from humming his poem to humming a melody he’d grown up with. A melody many young dragons heard from their mothers and fathers with they were young. It was a lullaby. He seemed happy as he hummed it. Happy and contented. He worked slowly but surely, every now and then looking at the younger dragon next to him to make sure she was doing alright. After a while he filled his basket but did not move to trade it in, instead he merely sat in place and hummed the lullaby of his youth.
He sat perfectly still and hummed the old lullaby, saying nothing, eyes closed; remembering happy days from when he was little and his father would sing him to sleep. Days filled with rat chasing in the family fields, picking peppers and trying new foods. Days filled with activities that to a small child would be adventures. He’d dreamed when was younger of having all kinds of adventures, and now he’d had some, but his adventures were just beginning. He looked to the sky and smiled. It was a beautiful feeling; remembering his youth. He turned to the younger dragon next to him and decided it was time he introduced himself. “My name is Wrath. I’m of the Deep Root Tribe. What is your name?” and he offered a gentle smile as he waited for her answer. He turned in his basket and returned quickly with a new one.

Scarlet had begun on her second basket when a strange voice spoke up next to her. The young metallic jumped a foot when a hand patted her on the shoulder. She growled silently and spun around to bite who ever it was that had appeared next to her. Scarlet was surprised that anyone was able to sneak up on her like this stranger had. Scarlet wound up only biting air as the slightly older wyvern began picking his own peppers. She watched him for a couple of minutes over coming the freight he had given her. It has been a long time since anyone was able to sneak up on her as he had done. Then curiosity over came her and she watched the way he picked the peppers. After a minute or two scarlet started to copy his methods. After all it was better to copy a forest type then fire type in this situation wasn't it. It was not long before she noticed that her unwanted companion was humming. After a quick, curious glance she went back to picking the peppers carefully. Not wanting to admit to herself that she was enjoying the sounds he was making. For a moment Scarlet was envious of his ability and wanted to hum along. After a mental shake he focused on filling her basket so that she could get another one. It did not occur to her just yet that if she really did not want his company that she could just move away from him. Though if it had she would have thought it odd that she actually did not want to get away from him just yet. Though experience told her that, that would change as soon as he realized that she was mute. After awhile she noticed that he was humming something different and paused a moment to listen. It almost sounded like a tune her mother used to sing to her brothers and sisters. Though she thought either this older dragon was humming it wrong or her mother never sang it right. Their was a possibility that they were two different lullabies that sounded alike but she wanted to believe that Mother was wrong. Nonetheless it sounded nice and she enjoyed it. Scarlet was a little surprised when he stopped humming and spoke to her again. This time she realized that she would need to respond. Well time to say bye. She thought and looked at him thinking how to respond and then if she would need to as he went to turn in his basket. Realizing hers was full as well she hurried to turn it in and to return to this spot. Not even sure why she was hurrying or even returning. As they returned she grabbed a small stick figuring the the easiest way of responding was to write in the dirt. I am Scarlet. She wrote then under her name she wrote No tribe. Which of course was not totally accurate she probably should have said formerly of he Ironwastes tribe. even though they chased her out when she was eight. She waited to see if he realized that she could not talk and what he would do or say next. Scarlet picked a few peppers as she waited. She always hated introductions because everyone she has met so far had scorned her for being what she was. After a moment she thought that she should probably comment on something Wraith had said earlier and wrote I'm sure I will enjoy my peppers and hope you enjoy yours as well Wraith of the Deep Root Tribe.

"Nice to meet you Scarlet. I'll take a guess and say you're mute. That is a sad fact of life for you, But that does not make you any less of a person than anyone else. Everyone is special in a way." And then he started picking peppers again. He worked slowly and carefully. "If you have no tribe, or no one in your life to care for you, then We will have to fix that. I will be your friend and protector, if you let me." And as he continued to pick pepper s he also continued to speak, "I don't really expect you to trust me, we just met after all. And My name is Wrath. Not Wraith," but he maintained his smile throughout this. Then he began humming the lullaby again. He worked carefully and hummed the lullaby happily throughout. He looked happy and contented. Not a single pepper his picked was damaged, nor were any of the plants. After a short while he stopped picking peppers and reached into his rucksack. He pulled out a green apple and offered it to Scarlet. "Here," and then he continued to hum and pick peppers one handedly. He meant it as a gift.

Scarlet had expected Wrath to leave or chase her away like so many others had before. She was quite surprised when he did not but chose to continue to talk to her. And for a moment she wondered if she had actually tried to make friends after the Ironwastes had chased her away if things would have been any different. When Wrath guessed that she was mute she nodded without looking at him but focusing on picking some peppers without damaging them or the plants that they grew from. She found much to her surprise that was she enjoying the task. Scarlet did not know how to react to Wrath's commit about her being mute was a sad fate which she knew all to well already. Nor did she know how to react to his saying that she was no less a person for it. She continued picking peppers as she thought about what all he had said. Scarlet also wondered why he was being nice to her she was not used to this but found she was enjoying his company. Her head came up as he mentioned that they would have to fix her current situation of having no tribe or caretaker. And then offering friendship and protection. She of course could not yell the words that came to mind but had to calmly write down her response so that he could read what she was writing. Why? She wrote We just met She was about to write more when she wondered why she was protesting so much. Especially since she knew how dangerous the world could be for a loner. And Wrath seemed nice enough at the moment. Though it was possible that this was a trap of some kind. But she did not think so. Scarlet wiped out what she had written and studied him for a moment. Then wrote Alright I guess it wouldn't hurt Truthfully she was craving company Scarlet was not a loner by choice after all. Scarlet looked back at him when he corrected her on his name. Sorry Wrath she wrote hoping he was not actually angry and hiding it from her. She went back to picking peppers and had nearly finished the basket when he offered her a green apple. Thanks but I don't have anything to give you in return. But she still took the offered apple figuring that she could give him something later. Maybe one of the peppers would do in return she thought. Scarlet soon finished filling her basket and waited for wrath to finish filling his own basket. She thought of helping him to fill it but was not sure how he would react to her help. She looked around the area and realized that the spot that they were picking from was nearly bare of ripe peppers. While a spot a little further down the row looked as if it had not been touched yet. She tapped Wrath on the shoulder and pointed them out then wrote How about over their next Wrath She was careful not to put any letters where they did not belong this time.

Hoshiru sighed for a moment. He didn’t like gong out of his family’s territory, one less member of his tribe protecting his home. He looked at the rather large selection of peppers. It was his sister’s birthday soon and he wanted to get her something she had never seen before, let alone tasted and his sister loved spicy things. He didn’t know what exactly he wanted to get her, but it had to be different. He looked at all the peppers, and nothing really popped out at him. ‘I’m not going to find anything here…’ he thinks as he looks up from the peppers and rubbed his eyes. He hadn’t had a lot of sleep in a long time and he had a brief thought that he shouldn’t be there, but it was clouded by something else. He had actually chased an intruder into this place and when he saw the peppers, he figure he would stop by once he caught them. He never did and on his way home, he stopped to have a look around. He then went back to looking at the peppers, his thoughts going somewhere he didn’t want to go. After browsing a little, he stumbles upon a small green pepper. “Excuse me, what is this?” he asked the shop keeper and pointed to what he was looking at. “Those are Jalapeno. They are very spicy. Be careful eating them. They have a mighty kick if you’re not used to them.” Hoshiru nodded and glanced back down at the little fire ball. ‘My sister would like these,’ he thinks as he grabs a bag and starts to put handfuls of the pepper in it. As he fills the bag, he looks up to see a Grec woman. He didn’t think that he would see someone like that in a place like this. He then looked away and walked over to the shop keeper to pay for his peppers. He smiles, pays for the peppers and turns to walk out. When he walks past the Grec female, he stops for a moment. He doesn’t know why he stopped. He glances over to her and watches her for a moment. She’s still looking over the peppers. ‘How strange… but it’s strange for me to be here as well… I need to get home as soon as I can… My father will be mad that I left the territory and went out this far.’ He shakes his head, trying to get the female and his father out of his head. At least he hoped it was a female. He would feel rather embarrassed if he was checking out a male. Embarrassed isn’t the word. No. More like horrified then anything else. He placed his hand over his face and sighed. “This is just one strange day… I need to go home…” As he makes his way out, he starts to watch people around him. Everyone was pairing up it seemed. ‘I don’t need these thoughts now… I can’t afford to.’

Wrath smiled at Scarlet and patted her shoulder gently. "You don't have to give me anything in return. It was a gift after all." Then when she pointed out that there was a better patch a few plants over, He smiled again. "The word their is one of three similarly sounding words." He then drew the three words in the dirt. "They're is short for they are," and he pointed to that word. then he pointed to Their. "Their is a word that shows possession." and then He pointed to There. "This one is the one I think you meant. Just figured I should give you a tip. But no harm done. People make that kind of mistake all the time. I've done it myself many a time." And then He turned in his basket before returning with a new one and moving to the spot Scarlet had indicated. Then he began to pick peppers once more.

She giggled mutely so much for not putting letters where they did not belong. At least it was not something like adding a letter or misspelling it by putting the wrong letter into the word or name. She had just used the wrong word but Wrath still understood what she meant. Which was a good thing it would have been annoying if she had written something that he would not have understood. At least it would have been for her she was not so sure if it would have been so for him. Scarlet followed her companion to exchange the baskets for new ones. By the time they had reached the spot she had pointed out she had managed to stop the giggles but was still smiling. She tried to memorize what Wrath said about their, there, and they're. Sometimes writing everything you say could be hard but still scarlet enjoyed it. Mainly because it was her only form of communicating with others. Scarlet began to pick peppers again she was soon lost in the task and had forgotten to keep a wary eye out for trouble as she enjoyed herself. Maybe she had dropped her guard because she was starting to think that she could trust Wrath who had not shunned her. Or maybe because the main cause for her problems had not reared it's ugly head for some months now. Or maybe she was just tired of being on guard all the time. But whatever it was she was unaware of the trouble that was just around the corner and coming her way. And would be there at any moment. She continues to pick peppers happily along side Wrath and was not expecting what was about to happen.
Several minutes later a rotten pepper comes flying out of no where and hits Scarlet in the back. When she turns to growl mutely and see who her attacker is she see's several more rotten peppers and some rocks flying at her. She has no time to react and much of it hits her in the face. Some of the missiles land in their buckets and one or two even hit Wrath. The missiles are soon joined by gales of laughter as the three men continued to throw stuff at Scarlet. They really did not even care that they had hit Wrath. In their book Wrath did not even count as a dragon after all he was a wyvern and therefore was not even a proper Dromea and that made him beneath them. Even lower to them was their mute little sister so most of the garbage was aim at her. "Hey if you don't wanna get hit get away from the freak." one of the three says to Wrath. "Who cares if he gets hit he is next to the mute freak and also a wyvern?" The one in the middle says as he throws a bigger rock at Scarlet. By now Scarlet has manage to collect a few of the rocks. That was a problem with projectiles once you have thrown then your target could throw them back at you. Which Scarlet did now. Of course this angered her attackers You dare attack us you little freak." The largest of the three says and advances on her. "We will just have to teach you not to attack those better than you." Now may have been a good time for Scarlet to run but she chose to hold her ground and continue her own attack. Besides with the three of them she may not have managed to escape and running would have only prolonged the inevitable. She may well lose this fight, she usually did but she was not going down without a fight.

Wrath smiled at Scarlet as she giggled. He was glad she was happy. as they continued picking peppers he got back into the swing of his work, that is, until something hit him and he noticed scarlet had been hit as well. He turned and looked at the three and listened to their words. He stood and stepped in front of Scarlet then he was simply gone, replaced in an instant by a 30ft long plant based wyvern with a 40ft wingspan. The ground shook violently as it's weight hit the ground. It stood over Scarlet protectively. "You really think you have the advantage? You are sorely mistaken." Wrath had transformed so fast the transformation itself could not be seen. It was the only time in his life he was able to move rapidly, when he was transforming it was like he was freed of his body's speed constraints. His opened his five part maw and hissed at the three. Even as he stood there in the royal fields in wyvern form, he did not damage a single plant. He had placed his roots with precision and care.

The two of three brothers also transformed into their four legged forms and faced him. They were roughly the same size as Wrath. Give or take an inch or two here or there. All three had some practice in fighting though that was mostly bullying those weaker then they were. The third and smallest of the three was prevented from his transformation by a nicely time rock between the eyes thrown by Scarlet. She grinned and hid behind Wrath where she was ready to transform and give him a helping hand. The only thing that stopped her was the pepper plants that she did not want to damage. Her brothers however did not care about the plants this plantlike wyvern had dared to face them. And such actions could not be taken lightly. And must be punished severally. "It is three verses one idiot of course we have the advantage." The largest of them growled. As he spoke a rock thrown by Scarlet hit him in the eye momentarily blinding one eye. In her book it was two against three with her brothers at the disadvantage. The three brothers spread out to give each other room to fight. The third one did manage to change form after a few moments.

"If you three are so smart then how come you're picking a fight with me in of all places, the Royal fields?! You three have to be the dumbest lot I've ever heard of. Every pepper you damage is a pepper you have to pay for, every plant you damage is one you have to pay for. These fields belong to the Emperor! You've already put yourself so deep in debt that you'll be working it off for the next year!" And wrath motioned toward the many peper plants they were crushing."And if that isn't your biggest concern...Then consider that you're provoking me." Then he took on a far more serious tone, "I'm strong enough to ignore your scales and rip out your organs!!! if you aren't concerned about the debt you're putting yourself in you should at the very least be concerned for your safety. The first one of you that comes within wing's reach is going to get his wings broken. Do I make myself clear?!" There was a tone of finality in his words. He wasn't playing around, and it wasn't an idle thread or a bluff. He spoke the truth, and he intended to make good on his threats if they came within wings reach.
