Free image host at Photobucket.com exceeds bandwidth
As any new visitors whose browsers have not cached the images can tell, the graphics used on the front page of this guild, in my signature and as headers in the Best Practices Guide have all been replaced by Photobucket's ugly "Bandwidth Exceeded" message. I know that I shouldn't complain about a free service, but I'm not about to upgrade to a premium account if I can avoid it. Instead, I've made a new one, so I'll start migrating important images over there as soon as possible. Until then, please overlook the banners and survive without their helpfullness. I'll work to restore them shortly, and hopefully at the same time make it less likely that this problem will crop up again.
Thanks for your patience. Keep refering people to the guild, help to build awareness of this resource. I haven't devised a plan to profit from all you suckers yet, so keep sending people along to get the information on offer, and if you think there's a way anything here could be improved, don't hesitate to post your views and ideas in the Feedback & Suggestions topic, which I check on frequently.
Also, if you want to contribute to the gulid in a bigger way, such as by having your own guide or service based here, please send me a proposal in a PM.
You'll probably find I'll be delighted. smile heart

Statistics
For your information, the total size of the original Photobucket account is only 15.29 MB, with 385 pictures. About forty of them are related to the Best Practices Guide and Guild Services. Bandwidth has never been exceeded before, yet only five days into the month more than 2,632.48 MB (2.6 GB) has been drained. An average of 51,100 people are accessing files hosted at this account monthly, and with this latest jump I'm sure much of it has to do with the Best Practices Guide. I wish I had a better way to keep track of you guys, but from here I'll just say I'm very grateful that word is spreading the way it seems to be, and I really hope it continues to grow exponentially because that will start to have a visible effect on the GGN. The BPG aims to help captains be better at managing and maintaining their communities, and every captain of every guild stands to benefit in some way from it, even the older and more experienced ones, if it's just in the case of a new idea or perspective on a familiar issue. The BPG is certainly helping some people, and the positive feedback I've recieved from those who've taken the time to post in its various topics in different guilds has been very much appreciated.
Keep helping this thing to grow, I can't wait to see what will happen next. Your support so far has been dizzying!

We're backAnything derogetry Window may or may not have said regarding Photobucket and its free service following their suspension of his account for exceeding bandwidth last month is hereby WITHDRAWN! surprised
A few weeks ago they upgraded free accounts from however much bandwidth they had before to 10GB a month! This is wonderful news for the Best Practices Guide (and future Guild Services) because it means the images will always be here. whee And images are very important. 3nodding
In the same upgrade, they re-blasted their website so that it's tonnes more user-friendly and easy on the eyeballs. I sent them a short message saying how great it was and thanks, and less than 24 hours later they replied to my e-mail address saying I'm welcome. As far as free service goes, that isn't too bad.
You may think I'm being paid to write this, but I'm not... Start using Photobucket.com if you're not already - it's tremendous. 4laugh
