I love Ghibli movies! There's always this mystical feeling to them, but the endings never seem to do it for me. They sort of put a downer on the whole movie. Anyone else feel the same way?

The only part that is a downer for me is that I am left wanting more, a sequal, a little paragraph saying what happened to them later on in life. Like porco rosso, I wanted to know if he turned back to a human and I wanted to see his face! And does he meet up with Gina in her garden finally!?! But I get what you mean, it can leave you feeling unfulfilled. emo gonk crying cry

I think what they're supposed to do is to have you imagine the epilogue in your mind. Like in Princess Mononoke, Ashitaka and San meet again somewhere out there, living in peace out in the woods. (that is if you don't catch how the movie has the sub-plot of pollution)
Or in Spirited Away, after Chihiro goes back with her family, the Spirit of the Kohaku river goes and gets HIS freedom, but choses to stay in the spirit world . . . after all, they dammed up the river he protected. Where could he go?
