“s**t s**t s**t s**t s**t.”

Ganymede was always careful not to get injured. Of course, when one went out to patrol the darkened streets of Destiny City searching for monsters when there was a magical war going on, that was not always an easy thing to accomplish. Eventually she got careless, she grew unlucky, the fates turned and she was unable to avoid the inevitable.

She'd been getting injured rather a lot of late. First the battle with the Shade Queen in which Ganymede had been knocked out, and though she'd recovered quickly after the subsequent trip to the hospital that had been (in her opinion) unnecessary, the experience had been a jarring one. It was not often that she found herself in those sorts of situations. She was, after all, usually quite careful about getting tangled up in things she was ill equipped to handle.

Tonight was another such unlucky occasion.

“s**t s**t s**t.”

Ganymede hobbled over to a bench outside a nearby park. Somewhere not too far away a youma had been dusted only moments ago, though she'd left the alleyway behind her so as to find some place to rest with better lighting. She sat down heavily and leaned over to inspect her left leg. Gingerly she removed the boot, which appeared scratched and torn, stained with a trace of blood. Beneath, her hose looked mangled, and her ankle was bruised and scratched and shallowly punctured from time spent in a youma's viciously fanged mouth.

She had been doing well so far, only entering the park when someone, namely Shangri-La, was with her. Though ever since the Shade Queen’s appearance at the lake, seeing the sheer numbers of Senshi, Knights, and Negaverse officers as (Shang called them) working together to eliminate a common evil, Acrucis was left feeling a sense of hope that maybe, just maybe Chaos wasn’t as evil as she had been lead to believe.

It was this hopeful mentality, aided by a bit of curiosity, which had brought her to the edge of the park this chilled evening. Moments later is when Acrucis felt the familiar tingling of a strong senshi’s aurora ’Maia?’ she thought hopefully. Shang did say she patrolled this area sometimes 'maybe!'. With that in mind, with an added hop in her step, Acrucis jogged towards where she felt the aurora coming from.

Once the senshi she had been pursuing came into view, she slowed her pace just a bit, “Hi” she said with a sincere smile, only pausing to take a breath. Acrucis’ eyebrows furrowed a bit, concern apparent in her expression when she noticed that the quite beautiful red and black attired senshi had shed a blood stained boot which sat on the ground next to her.

“Are you ok?” came an almost automatic question. After a second she mentally kicked herself in the head, 'Of course she’s not okay she’s hurt.'

Quickly, Ganymede glanced up at the sound of another voice. She'd been too distracted to pay much attention to the sense of another powered aura in the area, and was relieved to see that her company was but another Senshi, and not one of the more displeasing sort. Ganymede looked the girl over swiftly, studied her face and her fuku as she often did to determine whether or not she was familiar with someone, but she could place neither.

She winced again as she lifted her ankle to more closely inspect it, figuring the company of a basic Senshi under these circumstances was better than none at all.

“Yeah, I'm fine, just...” she began, but paused to frown worriedly at her injury, “...got a little in over my head with a youma, I guess.”

Ganymede was not sure if she should feel embarrassed to admit something like that to someone who appeared to be a newbie (and if not a complete newbie then at least one who had not yet managed to reach their second stage). As an Eternal, she thought some people might expect her to be quite a bit more skilled than she was. Youma should be old news. There were bigger fish for her powers to fry.

But she was far from perfect, and she knew that better than anyone. She made mistakes, she misjudged, and she made bad decisions. The wings on her back meant nothing against that; they couldn't stop her from being overconfident.

“At least it doesn't look too bad,” she said, peering close under the light of a streetlamp. “Still gonna make my life a living hell for a few days. s**t, could I have picked a worse time? Couldn't it have munched on my hand or something? I don't need that quite as much.”

The worried look that graced eternal's face did little to reassure the Senshi of Prayer that she was actually fine. Not wanting to interrupt her, Acrucis waited for an opportunity to speak, "I can help!" she offered with a little too much eagerness in her voice. Realizing she she probably sounded a little too enthusiastic to offer her assistance she added, "that is... if it's okay with you."

Acrucis knelt down on the concrete just a few feet in front of the Eternal Senshi to be eye level with her injured foot. Up till now she only seemed capable of completely healing minor wounds; shallow cuts, scrapes, bruises, slight burns maybe. Judging by the blood stained boot she wasn't entirely sure this classified as minor, regardless if given permission she was more than willing to try. "I'm not entirely sure how well it will work," she admitted outloud "I've only healed a handful of people. The effectiveness seems to vary based on how bad the injury is."

Ganymede looked up again at the other Senshi's offer of help, staring at her a bit in surprise for her eagerness.

“Your magic heals people?” she wondered.

She could not help but think how useful that was, and how much more preferable that sort of magic was to her own. Ganymede would rather possess abilities that had less of a chance of hurting people, but of course it wasn't exactly her choice. She had to make use of what she had and figure out when was the right opportunity to use it, and somehow keep to her principals in the process. She'd resigned herself to it, and was working on growing more comfortable with the idea.

But she still thought her feelings on the war would have been different (dare she think “better”?) if she'd had the ability to help people instead of hurt them.

“Sure,” she finally agreed, adjusting her position on the bench so that the other Senshi could have a better look at her foot. “Anything's better than nothing. Even if it just helps a little, that's good enough for me. I don't want to have to sit out on rehearsals for too long if I can help it.”

Acrucis nodded her head in response to the eternals question, “Yup! Though… I’m still trying to figure out the extent of my abilities.” Up till now she’d only been able to heal some minor stuff, unfortunately quite a bit of those injuries she never actually saw as they were normally hidden behind uniforms. But the small wounds she did see healed over nicely without so much as a scab let alone a scar.

There’s something heartwarming about being able to help others. To be able to alleviate even a little discomfort can go a long way to some which is why she made an effort to go out on patrol and will continue to do so as often as possible. “If need be, I’ll keep trying.” she offered picking up on the worry in her voice at the possibly of having to miss rehearsals

Bringing her hands up, palms facing each other in a prayer motion, Acrucis bowed her head slightly. With her eyes closed she whispered the name of her attack “Prayer of renew!” Opening her eyes she was pleased to see the soft yellow glow of her hands, which she immediately moved so they faced the Eternal's ankle palms up. Though her magic did nothing to mend the stocking fabric, the Senshi of Prayer watched as the small knicks and bruises mended themselves, inwardly hoping the puncture wound would heal as well.

“My name is Acrucis, the Senshi of Prayer” she spoke up while she waited for her magic to finish, not wishing to sit in silence. “May I ask your name?” she inquired.

Sailor Scout Attack: Prayer of Renew
Sailor Acrucis brings her hands together in a prayer motion and whispers her attack after which she holds her hands out in front of her in the direction of an injured individual within 15 feet of where she is standing. Both Acrucis's hands and the individual are bathed in a soft yellow light as a heal over time is cast. Over the next 10 seconds Renew has the ability to fully heal minor cuts, scrapes and bruises and can be cast 3 times without wearing her out. In order to mend a moderate wound it would take 2-3 casts on the same individual but will not fully heal the wound**. Her target must be in front of her or to her sides, it cannot be cast on someone behind her.

**After using all 3 of her Prayer of Renew's on one individual who has suffered a moderate wound OOCly please follow post 1 to determine the number of days for reduced recovery here

Ganymede tried not to look too amazed as Acrucis used her magic (as an experienced Eternal should she not be more jaded?), but as the yellow glow enveloped her and her wounded ankle began to heal, she could not control the look of awe that crossed her face.

“Ganymede,” she said, somewhat distractedly. “Senshi of Lust. It's... really nice to meet you.”

It was difficult to focus on the niceties when she was so consumed by what Acrucis's magic was able to do. To someone else it might not have seemed like such a magnificent skill, but to Ganymede it seemed incredible. She knew such magic existed, of course. Was there not a place at the Surrounding where one could go to encourage rapid healing? She thought there was, and yet this more present ability so close to home seemed greater to her in comparison.

Through the rips and tears in her hose Ganymede watched at the smaller cuts closed and some of the bruising began to diminish. A couple of the deeper punctures from the youma's teeth remained, but as Ganymede rolled her ankle to test it, she found that most of the previous discomfort she'd felt in it had abated.

“It's a little tender,” she admitted, gently pressing along her ankle with her fingers, “but better than it was. It'll probably be alright in a few days. I might even be able to dance on it so long as what's left isn't too deep. I think most of the damage is superficial. Thank you, that's really amazing,” she added, and looked back up with a smile.

The look of awe on the Eternals face didn't go unnoticed. A part of her actually had to wonder how many senshi or knights were out there that had a similar ability to her own. The reaction she was receiving made Acrucis swell with pride and helped motivate her desire to continue to seek out people to help. "It's nice to meet you as well!" she said, her voice quite cheeerful.

She watched as Ganymede rotated her ankle, satisfied that her renew had indeed alleviated some of the discomfort and subsided some of the worry she had previously felt at having to possibly sit out of dance practice. It was reassuring to know that it had instead filled the Senshi of Lust with a bit of optimism about being able to still participate in her rehearsal . "If you'd like," she spoke up "I can try again." she offered, more than willing to use her renew one more time. After the battle with the shade queen, the Senshi of Prayer had learned that she was not limited to just one use of her renew, rather she could use her attack up to three times

Ganymede cautiously rose to her feet to further test the state of her ankle, keeping most of her weight on her good foot at first before slowly allowing more pressure onto her injured one. There was still some slight pain, but nothing that seemed to her to be terribly concerning. She'd certainly felt worse.

Still, if it could be healed even more... what was the harm in that?

“It works more than once?” she wondered. She put a little more weight on her injured foot until she was almost able to stand naturally. “Uh... I mean... would it do anything a second time? I know a lot of people can use their magic multiple times, but... is there a limit?”

She didn't want to get her hopes up for a complete recovery. Then again, anything was better than nothing, and Acrucis had already gotten her to the point where the injury was bearable. (Not that she wouldn't have stubbornly tried to bear it anyway.)

“Knock yourself out, though,” Ganymede said. “It can't hurt to try, right?”

Still knealing on the concrete ground in front of the Eternal, Acrucis watched as Ganymede tested the effects and extents the renew had on her ankle. It pleased the Senshi of Prayer greatly seeing that she was able to put some, though it looked like not all, of her weight on the injured leg.

When asked how many times she could use her ability, Acrucis brought her right hand up, her thumb and first two fingers straightened while her pinky and ring finger were bent, sign language for the number three. "I can use my renew a total of three times. Though I haven't had too many chances to try it more than once on one person so I'm not entirely sure how well it will work. But it's worth a try!"

Mimicking the motions once again, Acrucis spoke the words of her attack and watched as both her hands and Ganymede were bathed in the soft yellow glow all the while hoping that it alleviated some of the remaining discomfort. "How does it feel?" she asked once the ten seconds was up, "Does it feel like it did anything?"

“That's pretty handy,” Ganymede said, and waited patiently while Acrucis used her magic again.

Once the magic had come and gone and the golden glow had faded, Ganymede gave her ankle another quick look-over before settling a little more of her weight onto it. There was still some mild tenderness, and she could still see some remnants of the more moderate wounds, but she was able to stand normally. Her sense of relief grew stronger and she sighed in satisfaction as she showed Acrucis another friendly and appreciative smile.

“Seems alright to me,” she said.

To make sure, she leaved over to begin undoing the fastenings of her other boot, sliding it off and tossing it to the side to join the mangled one before straightening to stand upon her stockinged feet. She switched her weight back and forth, from one foot to the other, before testing how her ankle held up in a couple of the basic ballet positions.

“It feels fine,” Ganymede concluded. “Much better. Thanks a lot,” she said, and help out one of her hands to Acrucis, intent on helping the Senshi to her feet as well as executing the proper welcoming shake. “So are you new then? I mean, if you haven't had many chances to use your magic I just assumed you'd just be getting the hang of this. You'll have plenty of chances from here on out, trust me. Magic like that'll turn out to be dead useful. People'll want to have you around in a crisis, that's for sure.”

With a satisfied smile on her face, Acrucis stood up from where she sat kneeling on the ground and watched as Ganymede performed some ballet moves. She clapped her hands in an applause once the Eternal finished testing out her ankle, “You’re very graceful! How long have you been dancing?” She inquired. Aside from the Nutcracker movie her parents use to own, she had never seen a ballet in person so it was quite a treat to have met someone who actually danced.

Taking a seat on the bench she replied, “I powered up for the first time a few days prior to the Shade Queen’s appearance, a few days after the Eclipse began. I started out helping people who had rough encounters with their clones. But with them gone now I just kind of wander around looking for people who might need help.” The thought of people wanting her around made her both happy yet concerned. “Are there not many people who have the ability to heal?” she wondered aloud. If that was the case, then maybe she should consider staying out a bit later than normal just in case someone else might need her.

“Thanks,” Ganymede said, and managed a look of bashful modesty, though the praise usually tended to go to her head. “I started dancing when I was really little. Before I can remember, honestly. I think I might have been two. If all goes well, next year I'll start my apprenticeship with the Destiny City Ballet.”

It was not the most impressive news, in her opinion, certainly not ABT, NYCB, or the Boston Ballet, but circumstances being what the were she wouldn't exactly feel right seeking her fame elsewhere. She was needed here. Even should she try and make an escape elsewhere, she new Destiny City would call her back. She could certainly do much worse than DCB, in any case, and in the event that the war finally ended... well, she'd figure out what to do then when the time came.

She performed a few more moves while Acrucis took a seat upon the bench, partially to test her ankle a bit more an partially to show off. “Wow, you sure picked a good time to awaken,” she said with a friendly amount of sarcasm, smiling even as her eyes looked on Acrucis with sympathy. “Big battles like that are a pretty serious introduction. Kind of intimidating. It's good you're figuring stuff out, though. It'll get easier.”

Though, in Ganymede's opinion, it never felt completely right. “If there are any other Senshi or Knights who can heal, I've never met them. Anyway, even with those clone things gone, I imagine there're a lot of people who could benefit from a little healing with everything else still running around the city. How many contacts do you have in your phone?” Ganymede asked, and lifted a hand to call her Senshi phone from subspace. “That's usually a pretty good way to get in touch with people, or let people get in touch with you in case they need you.”

It came as a bit of a curious surprised at the mention of Destiny City Ballet. Even after living here for all her life save the last two years, she had never known there was a ballet school here. Note to self, ask parents if we can see an actual ballet sometime Smiling at the eternal as she continue d to perform, Hannah watched as the red drape skirt followed her movements almost like it was an extension of her instead of a hindrance to her movements. “Maybe, someday I’ll get a chance to see you perform on stage.” Though she may never know it is actually the Eternal that danced before her on stage, it was still a pleasant thought to think about

“To be honest it almost didn’t happen, if Shangri-La had his way and there wasn’t an evil demon cat clone I don’t think I’d be sitting here right now.” Though just because it may not have happened when it did, didn’t negate the possibility that it would still come to be sometime down the road. It was a bit worrisome when Ganymede confirmed that ‘healers’ seemed to be rare which meant people were either covering up their injuries and neglecting them in lieu of lying to family or friends or they were going to the hospital to be treated.

Acrucis brought her hand up in a “peace sign” in response to her question “Three so far; Maia, Chaldene and Phact.” Her list of contacts was unfortunately frightfully small especially in comparison to the number of senshi and knights that worked together to bring down the Shade Queen. But she was working on it, little by little. “So far nobody has contacted me which I guess is a good thing” Mimicking Ganymede, Acrucis summoned her senshi phone as well “I might not be able to do a whole lot, but it’s something.

“Every little bit counts!” Ganymede insisted.

She was certainly impressed, but then she was also terrified of getting injured, so the fact that there was someone out there who could heal injuries was reassuring to her. It was a power she thought was desperately needed by a lot of people, and one she expected would give Acrucis a lot of experience once people realized what she could do.

With her phone aimed at Acrucis, Ganymede scanned the new Senshi into her contacts. “Out of those three, I only know Maia. We're friends outside of all this Senshi stuff, but I didn't know she was a Senshi, too, until this summer. Chaldene sounds kind of familiar, but I don't know if that's because I've met them or because I've heard the name somewhere before.”

No face immediately came to mind, so Ganymede was left assuming she'd simply heard or seen the name somewhere, or else hadn't encountered them enough for the memories to stick.

“You can add me into your phone if you want, so that'll make four,” she offered. “You'll get more as you go along. Sometimes patrolling gets a little lonely, and being on your own can be dangerous sometimes, so if you ever want or need some company I usually go out a few nights a week after rehearsals. I'm not really the best person to go to for information and stuff since I tend to keep to myself a lot, but I think I make for good company! I was alone a lot when I first started out and that was a really awful time, so I'd hate to see anyone else feel like I did.”
